Why 72 grams of carbs? Like, where does that number come from?0

I think I already said I don't agree with all of what Dr. Oz. says, I don't agree with a lot of this, in fact Dr. Oz has gone to the level of "quack" for me after reading this, let me give this post a review:1 - The adrenal glands handle all stress and they can't distinguish between physical and mental stress. Being stressed releases cortisol which makes you store belly fat.2 - Fat burning only occurs during your deep sleep at night.3 - Sugar is bad.....awful....Wheat bread should be considered a dessert because it is a 71 on the glycemic index4 - Actually.....all grains are bad. It's a worthless food group and every grain should be considered a dessert5 - You have to eat 25 apples today to get the same nutritional value from one apple in the 1940s.6 - Cereal companies take all nutrients out of the grain and then spray it with 6 synthetic vitamins and minerals....that's what enriched and fortified means.7 - You really need to watch carbs and sugars. Calories don't really mean anything. All the good doctors (like Dr. Oz) say your body doesn't really know calories....It just knows hormones.8 - You should only eat a max of 72g of carbs and 9g sugar per day.At this point he did a really cool demonstration where people pushed their pointer finger against their thumb....and he would not be able to pry the two apart.....but then they would touch a processed food and he could pry their fingers apart.....This is because of the negative energy floating through these processed foods.......The only one it didn't work on was me.....He said that the Luna bar I was touching must be pretty good and it must be because of all the soy in it that I didn't lose as much strength. Amazing!!!He also did another demonstration where someone held up their arm and he couldn't push it down.......he touched on his chest (heart) and it was still strong but when he pushed on his abdomen (liver) he could push the arm down so he must have a liver problem.........He brushed his hand down the patient's back a few times and then repeated the test and could not push the arm down.....His liver is on the way to recovery.9 - Everyone needs 5 supplements....He went through it so quickly I didn't catch them all but they included multi-vitamin, multi-mineral and fish oil....along with two others.10 - All supplements are not created equal....Vitamin Shoppe/GNC/ETC are cheap supplements and don't realy make a difference. He sells one in his office though called Standard Process and they are amazing. The others are made from oil/tar and are petroleum based products but the ones he sells are from real foods.11 - Joint pain is pretty much always caused from poor nutrition.12 - Detoxing is great but only if you are up for it. You need to eat right and exercise first before starting your full body cleanse. He did a detox once when his body wasn't ready and ended up with hyperthyroidism. He started eating right though and it fixed itself.13 - You should only eat 3-4 oz. of protein at a time. Any more than 4 oz. and the remainder is immediately stored as fat instead.14 - Juicing is great....watch the fruits though. Only 3.33 C (max) fruit per day and 10C vegetables per day (min)15 - If you are trying to lose weight eat your fruit late at night before you go to bed so you can burn off all the fruit sugar while you sleep.....Otherwise you have to burn the fruit sugar off first when you exercise.16 - You should do a parasite protocol every year because 9-10 people have parasites inside of them.
OK, overall I give this post a way way way way thumbs DOWN! What a bunch of unscientific and unsubstantiated bulldookies!

I don't know. I am not a doctor. Who am I to question a doctor. I'm sure like 70 or 75 would be OK too. At least I think so.0 -
Are you sure he wasn't a stand-up comedian?
Lmao0 -
I don't get you guys. Usually people post information from doctors and you say "Doctors aren't nutritionists....they know nothing of nutrition" Now I give you information straight from a doctor and nutritionist and you're all like "Well he's not a real doctor.......that is ridiculous.....he's only trying to sell you something" You guys are never happy. You didn't see the demonstration. The processed foods made people significantly weaker....just touching them.....imagine if they are actually inside your body.
No. You said he was a Chiropractor. Any legitimate MD will tell you that Chiropractors are NOT DOCTORS. I know. I've grew up in a family where both of my parents are medical professionals and know tons of other medical professionals through them. I had many years talking with these people and hearing their stories and work experience. NONE of them would ever call a Chiropractor a legitimate doctor. Trust me. This guy's nutritional "knowledge" is about as valid as those vegan PETA women that wrote Skinny *****. I can't believe people buy into this bs.
EDIT: Did it really just censor a book title? I'm surprised there's a language censor on a site meant for adults.0 -

He is ALSO an ACN....DO you guys even read the whole post or just the points you want to tear apart?0 -

"All the good doctors (like Dr. Oz) "
Can't stop laughing  :noway:
Me too ! Good Dr like Dr Oz. PUULLEZE !0 -

When the words "All the good doctors (like Dr. Oz)" come out of someone's mouth, that's your cue that it's time to be somewhere else.0 -
OP are you from the Buffalo area?0

This is the same trick (and yes, it is a trick) that those "magic bracelet" people use. Go look up applied kinesiology.

This reminds me of the hilarious Dr. Oz "demonstrations," which basically consist of him playing with toys and not proving anything.0 -
Thanks for sharing. Your comment about the apple made me curious. I found this article you (and others on here) may find interesting about how we have been breeding the nutrients out of food for thousands of years -- and a few ideas for recouping some of these phytonutrients. I realize it's the NY Times, written by an author who wrote a book about the topic, and not a science journal, but it is interesting.

That was the thing I was curious about. Thanks for posting that. The other thing I want to know, is what you took for lunch, Jac. I can only imagine how boring your lunch would've been if they had provided it for you.0 -

Love it0 -
I feel very cheated. I slept 8 hours last night and didn't lose an ounce.
And I bet you ate more than 9g of sugar yesterday......your argument is invalid.0 -
How da hell are people allowed to stand in front of an audience with no apparent knowledge of the subject at hand? I'd be fired from my job in a hurry if I did that.
He's a doctor.......and a nutritionist.
A "nutritionist" is like saying your a toothist - it doesn't mean anything. A dietician is a proper thing, a nutritionist, no.0 -

Wait a minute... I thought the op's post was making light of this self professed expert. It wasn't serious, was it?!0
-
DO you think OP is joking? Maybe this is a prank thread?0
-
Very interesting and it goes along with what I have been reading from other metabolism specialists. Thanks for sharing. Have you seen the specials on PBS... I think if you "search" PBS diet and exercise you will get the program name and link... can't remember the guys name but he finds researchers in the area of diet and exercise... then becomes their guinea pig to test their program.0

OMG... you really need to ignore the negative posters... talk about bringing ya down!! Who needs that kind of negativity . yuk.0

Joint pain is from your diet?? I have lupus which is a auto immune disease that attacks your joints causing painful joints, I don't think my joint pain is caused from my diet.
Another Lupus sufferer here also. My Dr put me on an anti-inflammatory diet as what you put on the inside of your body directly affects your immune system and the Chronic illnesses attached with it.
I have no joint pain as long as I eat no grains and severely limit sugar. I also have to severely limit night shades for the same reason.
When I do have anything of the above, I have a flair and feel horrible for several days.
Same for my aunt. She actually went full on paleo/ancestral/something-or-other and has been asymptomatic as long as she sticks to her diet.0 -
It's funny to me that you all think you are smarter than a doctor........Tell me what kind of medical degrees you have please.....
It was a huge sales pitch, don't fall for it!!
He wasn't trying to really sell anything. In fact I think he was trying to keep people from wasting their money on junk vitamins. He said you should take really good vitamins....like the ones from standard function or whatever......but didn't say to buy them from him.
...like the ones he has. At his office. ...and they're for sale.0 -
That was probably the funniest thing I've read on the boards in ages.
Though I am left with wondering where you work that would have such a speaker.
Where I work relies on customers for entertainment value.0 -

You must be logging incorrectly. Perhaps you are measuring instead of weighing?0 -

Met-Rx collossal peanut butter pretzel bar and an orange. I should have had 10C of spinach instead.0 -
If I have parasites, then it seems like I should be losing weight at a much faster rate than I currently am. Lazy *kitten* tapeworms.
The mentioning of parasites ( and there are 100s more than just tape worms) in the OP's list, is the only thing I actually believe. Many people have them ( parasytes in general, not just tape worms ) and are unaware. Not all parasites cause weight loss like the tape worm does.
I have a MA in Nutrition from a respectable US university and have worked more than 30 years in the field all over the planet and apart from the mentioning of parasites, I have never heard of the other points within serious nutrition focussed circles. Some of it is just plain wrong ( like fat is only burned at night ) and the rest sounds really New Age.......with no scientific back up that I am aware of.0 -

I am a lifelong whole food eater and also have active systemic Lupus. I am ok with natural foods ( including nightshades, grains ans legumnes), but found out that avoiding most sugars and white flour keeps the swelling in my joints down also.....it does not diminish the pain to any great extent however. I am ok with all other foods. I couldn't say anything about processed food and snack or junk food, because I have never eaten them.0 -
What exactly is an ACN? According to this article, it doesn't exist. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-03-21/health/ct-met-nutritionist-types-20130128_1_medical-nutrition-therapy-food-and-nutrition-nutrition-professionals0

Ohmigod, this is funny. Did he also wave 10 lbs of fat around repeatedly?
For his next trick, I really hope he sawed a woman in half and then used magic vitamins only available from his office to render her whole again.0 -
One of my massage instructors was a chiropractor. He was constantly trying to push stuff like this on us. So, I went to the dietician on base, with the info he had given us. She gave me resources, more info, and explained the partial truths to me when it came to diet and what he was pushing. I took those things to him. His response "well, that kind of medicine just lies to you, trust me, I know what I'm talking about."
Just because he's a Dr. of Chiropractic Medicine doesn't not make him a dietician, or make him credible on ANYTHING other than the joints and bones of the body. Period. I wouldn't trust my optometrist to advise me on physical therapy.0
