We broke up :-(

and all I want to do is eat chocolate.
I would love some help and support on avoiding comfort foods... please.
Omg, do you realize what this means?! Sweet freedom!!! Go forth and live life. There is NO reason to seek out another relationship, right now. Break ups are THE BEST for finding yourself, again...and doing whatever the hell you want to.
I know. I've been married, twice (currently married), and I just know that men and romantic relationships are overrated. Don't tell my husband that. haha!
I'm a man and I'll agree that we, and relationships, are generally overrated.
As has been said ... get thee to the gym ASAP and wear yourself out with weights and/or cardio.
As for chocolate ... indulging in some dark chocolate (80-85% stuff) is not terrible if you keep it within reason. And the chocolate endorphins are still there. It can be a bit high in fat, but there's just not as much sugar so it's a little more "friendly."
^^Yep!!! Good words here! :bigsmile:0 -
Try a piece of 98% cocoa...that might turn you off chocolate! And it's not bad for you, in moderation.0

I don't have a gym membership and i don't want one. I have every workout DVD imaginable in my house. I think kick boxing will help.
I also have a treadmill.
I wish the weather would get nice so I could for for walks outdoors.0 -

All this. I was depressed as **** in the spring/summer after my divorce -- I drank a lot, stopped counting calories, etc -- but now that it's a year past I've come to realize that my marriage held me back in a lot of ways. (The same is probably true of my ex-husband, but it's not exactly a topic we discuss often.)
You now have total control of your life. You get to make every decision without having to wonder how it affects someone else. You are going to be awesome and there is nothing to hold you back.0 -
Because avoiding things you enjoy is sustainable....
Best advice: Get a bar of dark, dark chocolate. A little will satisfy the craving and you won't blow your calories/macros.0 -
Muster up some strength, put yourself together, and go to the gym. 20 or so minutes in, you'll start feeling a little better. Put some loud music on (no taylor swift or sad songs) and GET LOST in what you're doing. Escape it all for a little bit.
Break-ups suck but i hope you feel better soon, girl0 -
Try comfort exercising. The endorphin rush will do you good. I also recommend spicy food, but in moderation since we're all trying to loose weight...0

It may sound stupid, but when having relationship issues, I lift weights. I picture pushing out the negative in my life with each exhale. Sorry to hear about your break-up, but food will NOT make you feel better. xo
It doesn't sound stupid at all. That's a great idea but what do I do while at work?
Look at inappropriate things on the internet. Laugh loudly. *kitten* furiously.0 -
I'm so sorry to hear about your break up *huge hugs*
Honestly if you feel like comfort eating try to do it with healthy foods like some fruit and try some angry exercise like some mentioned lol, punch / kick some bags, even scream into a pillow if you need to. It's alright to cry
Good luck getting that revenge body, and you will0 -
Eat your feelings. I eat mine in the form of Cheez Its and Mello Yello Zero. It's 0 cal, so it's ok.0

I always super deep clean my house when i'm mad. It seems weird but it makes me feel better (I'm not a neat freak normally so my daughter can always tell when i'm mad haha). if you don't want to go to the gym, maybe seek out alternative activities. We have a pottery painting place here where you buy a plate or something, then can paint it. Or maybe a painting class? Go to a play or a museum. Any way to channel your emotions. You can friend me if you'd like. I'm good at lending a good ear0

Exercise is the best and 100% natural anti-depressant there is. Get out there!

I switch from comfort eating, to comfort drinking.
Haha  Great. I'm not much of a drinker.
Great time to start. I suggest Skinny Girl mixers, and/or captain & coke zero. About 60 cals per serving and carb free!!!0 -

He's a smart man.
I would suggest taking your hurt out on a treadmill or any other piece of equipment that will get you moving. Or go run and start sobbing while you do. It helps tremendously. Not only are you helping the mental part, you are doing your body a lot of good. I'm sorry to hear that, but you have to keep going. And you will. Just takes time. Been there so many times, done that. :flowerforyou:0 -
It is always a downer to lose a relationship around one of the most couple related holidays out there, but all in all, vent. Don't intake, out take. Write it out, or draw it out, scribble out the stress.
When you get the chance, go walk. Walk, walk, walk. Get some fresh air. If you have a dog, they are your partner in crime and they can feel that you need it and will be at your side--maybe even do something silly to distract you; my dog likes to keep me on my toes when I'm stressed. He'll try stopping right in front of my feet to see if I'll notice or trip. lol
When you have time, go to a gym, and lift weights. Don't injure yourself, but push a little further than you've gone before. Use that pain and frustration to fuel it, and you'll find it leaving you along with your hard earned sweat.
Then you can finish it all off with water therapy. Take a nice hot shower to relieve the taught in your muscles, relax your nerves, and let the stress you sweated out go down the drain. Then, start focusing on what you want. Think of your goals and imagine reaching them. It isn't so hard if you put your mind and body forward together on it.
Everything happens for a reason. Perhaps they just weren't the right piece to the larger puzzle, but you learn a little of what you did or didn't like about them, and it helps you realize what is more important to you when finding your true other half. It isn't the end of the world, just the end of one single chapter.0 -
I lot of people would suggest taking a vacation to Hilton Head, SC and having a rebound fling with a handsome and very mature man. Seriously, sorry for the break-up, and use it as motivation to show him what he is missing.0

Crochet a blanket. Your hands will be busy, and by the time you finish, you'll feel a lot better and have a lovely blanket!0

okay, so we have intense cardio/running/lifting/ and QFT..... I don't know what that is
QFT == quoted for truth
I thought it meant Quite F-ing True!
AND I agree, a good workout beats chocolate, BUT if you must indulge it is 20 Burpees per piece (Burpees must be done before each piece)0 -

this.
sorry luv. treat yourself to the chocolate. but log it and avoid bingeing. then go exercise or lift weights or take an angry class to work off some steam. and the chocolate.0 -
When my boyfriend and I broke up a couple months ago I worked out to get through it. It relieves stress, PLUS you can think to yourself how dumb he will feel when you are looking like a million bucks in a bikini...I'm just sayin LOL0
-
That sucks! My suggestion is a chocolate herbal tea, like David's tea coffee cake flavour (smells like heaven!) or how about hot chocolate? Good luck0

When you run while sobbing, do people look behind you to see if someone's trying to get you?
You're right, though, exercise makes me feel a lot better!!!0 -

I've discovered I can't lift heavy weights and cry. I can walk and cry, I can run and cry, I can't squat heavy and cry. That's my place where everything melts away and all I can focus on is getting my *kitten* down and back up again. Find your place where you have to give your entire being to that and that alone. Afterwards you will feel fantastic.0

So, you're available now?
Yes, why? Are you interested?0
