Guys like heavier girls?

  • You're absolutely right about MM; however, sizes were very different back then. A vintage size 14 would not fit a woman who wears a modern 14. Her measurements were 37-23-36.

humm.....is it that they settle for a size 14 and have fantasies of a size 6? :noway:
  • I have always said to any friends that ask, size is never the issue, it is PROPORTIONS. How well does that woman present as a complete package. Does everything look right/natural/appealing together?

Here this might explain it better than I can:

My thoughts on that are that guys do like curves and for some a 6 is curvy, others a 10, others a 12-height is a factor. Also - I have found with myself (and getting older) I have a few wrinkles 10 pounds less than I am now. So I feel like my face looks better now BUT I'd prefer the size 8s to the 10s that the 10 pounds makes

Do you think that's evolution though? bigger women are better "breeders" lol...i know that i've had a big *kitten* my entire life, but it wasn't until i was about 25 that men started to appreciate it...maybe it's maturity too??
  • Am I the only guy on here that likes skinny girls? Haha. Don't get be wrong, there are plenty of girls who I know that wear a size 14 and are extremely pretty. My girlfriend is a size 9, or 12, depending on the brand.

But personally I like skinnier girls? I think it honestly comes down to a matter of preference. I don't think there is any actually science behind this. Different people like different things. Nothing new there.

I do like the comment about maybe being threatened by a size 6? Some guys lack the confidence to go after what they really want, hence they settle for less and start convincing themselves that is what they like. Just my .02$

You couldn't of said it better.
  • Of all the guys I've talked to they like a little meat. Soft curves...normally size 10-14.

My boyfriend says I'm 'thick skinny'. Clever little guy...

I would guess this is most common. My hubby doesn't like women that are so thin they have no hips or boobs. He says that when women are too thin all their curves go caput and they look like a 12 year old. Not hot.

At the same time, as heavy as I was wasn't hot either. So it's kind of finding the right size for you. Cuz you don't want to lose your womanly figure. Skinny people also look bobble-heady sometimes if they've clearly lost too much. I don't consider myself a "skinny minnie" but now that I have curves rather than gigantic speed bumps I definitely get more attention from the opposite sex.

When my guy realized that I was in this for the long haul, he had one request. "Don't lose your curves". So I will not be going down to the median weight on the BMI range. I may even have to stop before I get to the upper range. I will figure it out when I get closer to a healthy or even overweight range.
  • My husband agrees that heavier women look better. He thinks I am fine the way I am but regardless I am going to loose weight. In the end no matter what any man likes, us women need to be happy with ourselves and be able to love the body we are in. I know we should love ourself no matter our size but I know I have a hard time being happy while I am overweight! Besides that our health is at stake.

I think that a lot of this might not be which do they find more attractive, but which are they less threatened by / which do they think will not leave them for another better looking guy?

I mean really - if guys really thought that heavier women were MORE ATTRACTIVE then there would be fluffy gals in all the porn (not just specialty more to love porn) and in all the action movies.

But, which is more attractive and which are you comfortable sharing a relationship with are two totally separate questions. I'd be interested in seeing a study with slightly different worded questions to find if this makes for different responses.

also, key question - who had bigger boobs?

I am also wondering if a guy was asking would it change the answer. Because I know that guys will tell you which ever you are close to as being the best one. Ask which one you would want to be a wife and which one you would want to just sleep with...
  • I keep telling my bf he's gotta be a chubby chaser if he's into me. LOL He says he's not, I still think he may need glasses.

anyways....i just posted the question to my FB status. I'm interested in reading their responses.

I think that you should go for the body that YOU feel comfortable in and what you're happy with, and then your guy should love you for who you are and think you're gorgeous no matter what. Who cares if he likes curvy girls or skinny skinny girls, its sill a projection of what guys think girl's bodies should be, when really it should just be up to a woman what she wants her body to look like.

all the "fluffy" women love my man, he's 6'4 and almost 300lbs...i think it's a sense of security...but he's totally a chubby chaser...i'm not the smallest, or the biggest he's dated though. But because he's such a big guy, he needs his woman to be a little thicker...although I'm not tall enough for him i'm definitely heavy enough lol

lets go ahead and say this....DUDES LIKE CHICKS! who cares!!!! if your man loves you curvy then super!!!! Im sure anyone would rather have healthy and curvy than skinny and sick! and heres an idea..if you are going to continue with your experiment...crop out the faces/hair...so you eliminate that choice...judging (yep thats what we are all doin) on just their bodies.
  • From a guys perspective;

    1) It could be a security thing. If you are a bigger guy, it may be uncomfortable with a very small woman.

    2) Every guy likes different things.

    3) Maybe he would like to 'be with' the bigger girl, but I'm sure he would love to 'sleep with' the smaller girl. I mean we are guys after all right?

    4) Guys lie. Just because a guy says he would prefer the bigger girl doesn't mean he actually does. If the question was coming from a girl who was a size 6 maybe the answers would be different?

I always thought it was something to do with waist to hip ratio, some skinny and some over weight have small hips and a large waist and vice versa.

I think its better to be what you want to be, not what you think men find appealing? i'd rather have a partner who appreciates me for me rather than what shape i happen to be, as your shape changes your entire life.

    0.71 ratio, woo !

I agree with you. I've always had a big bootie and was teased terribly when I was a kid. But as I got older it was more "acceptable" to have. Now everyone want what we always had!

That's pretty much exactly what I was going to say.

There is no "one" type of look I find attractive, I like all sorts of looks. I do have to say though that extremely skinny women, the kind that look like they are just one calorie away from passing out, aren't attractive to me. Same holds true for the other extreme.

Guess you could say that I am attracted to healthy :D

Interesting! I think that guys mostly like me now because of my boobs. =( They are attracted and would want to sleep with me but when it comes to dating, they would choose a skinnier girl any day=(

Totally. Not to burst anyone's bubble, but this urban legend irks the hell out of me. Here's a little info on it:
Part of the misconception over Marilyn's dress size is caused by the fact women's dress sizing has changed over the years (i.e., today's size 10 dress is smaller than the size 10 dress of fifty years ago), so what might have been labeled a "size 16" dress in Marilyn Monroe's era can't be directly compared with today's size 16 dress. Also, many women have difficulty finding dresses that fit all portions of their frames comfortably, and therefore a woman with a proportionally larger bust, waist, or hip measurement might have to buy a larger-sized dress to accommodate that one measurement, but that dress wouldn't necessarily be reflective of her overall size. As well, it's difficult to accurately size the clothing Marilyn wore from her film costumes because most of that wardrobe was specifically tailored to fit her particular figure and was designed to showcase her body, not to provide the covering typical of standard clothing.

and a direct quote from Sara Buys:
Contrary to received wisdom, she was not a voluptuous size 16 — quite the opposite. While she was undeniably voluptuous — in possession of an ample bosom and a bottom that would look at home gyrating in a J-Lo video — for most of the early part of her career, she was a size 8 and even in her plumper stages, was no more than a 10. I can tell you this from experience because a few weeks ago, I tried to try on her clothes.
Anyway, personally, every girlfriend I've had for more than 2 weeks has been a size six. I love sixes. The girl I'm seeing now is probably like a 12, and it won't last too long I don't think. But damn I love big boobs.

I posted the following on my FB: Poll of curiosity (for the guys!) from my fitness group: Do you prefer women who are about a size 14 or a woman about a size 4? Also, is there a distinction between flabby & curvy for you?

There are hard-wired reasons for all this which I wrote about but then lost so I'm not rewriting. LOL it was a long post! What I will rewrite is that women - not men - set the trends of what is considered "beautiful". Men just follow our suit. I can provide more insights on this if someone wants but the the full scope was in that post I lost. grrr.

I'll share the results whenever it seems like the conversation peters out on my FB page! pee heee.... this should be interesting.

I met and married my husband when I was at my heaviest. He never complained when I wore a size 20, but he's certainly not complaining now that I'm wearing a 12. He did tell me recently that he thinks I should stop losing weight now. But I think he's just worried about me losing more of my boobs.

My husband likes "heavier" girls, but he is not complaining about my loosing weight either. In fact, we just talked about it yesterday and he said he would be happy if I lost more, but didn't mind where I was at. Bless his heart!
