    Maybe because they dont see anything evolving from conversation with you? Most married men like to talk to women just to gain perspective or to get another womans point of view. Cant go to the bro's for sensitive topics or you just might get a bro answer.

    When I was married, I wasnt really "allowed" female friends even if they were previous strictly platonic relationships.
    I would avoid someone I felt attracted to , just to avoid any issues on either side.

    I get this, I don't talk about it because people think I am either flirting or being vain.
    I am a *kitten* magnet, it has left me with a distrust of all men (I know it's not fair)

    I think half my problem is that I have no idea I am being hit on until it's too late and then it's awkward.

    I feel like this is my issue as well. I'm just a very friendly person. And I am highly sensitive and compassionate. I feel maybe that could ignite mixed feelings. :(

    I have been hit on in the strangest of places, once at the gym mid workout, all sweaty and minging and once while dressed as Sadako (Samara) from the ring!

    This may be your issue... Finding someone who will be good to you and treat you well has nothing to do with how "hot" he is. Don't be so worried about whether he's "hot" or not and get to know the person. Looks will always fade as we get older. The average looking guy might be the ONE guy who treats you better and understands you better than anyone else has. I don't mean any offense by any of that. Just stating my opinion, based on experience. I've dated girls just because I thought they were physically attractive, and ended up getting burned EVERY time... But then, I've dated girls who weren't initially physically attractive as some, but once I got to know them, they became more attractive than the most physically beautiful ones. I'm not saying you definitely do this, but don't keep going after the same type of guy that you know is bad for you. Try a different type... You may be pleasantly surprised. :)
