Getting lots of responses to this one! I'm in the club, so I get buy one get one fee deals every now and then. The worst part about that is that you have to buy a medium, and then you get a medium or smaller free. Well, I like to get all I can for my money..............0

I look at places like Dairy Queen just like I would a drug pusher. If I'm not careful, it will ruin my health. Even worse, Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbin's is literally across the street from my apartment complex. :frown:
Yeah, what is a drug pusher? That jerk that works for Pfizer? He's always pushing drugs, but never gives enough Viagra samples. :ohwell:0 -
I don't care because Peanut Buster Parfait > Blizzard!
Peanut Buster Parfait = Best. DQ. Evah!!0 -

Oh that's my favorite.....0 -
Whenever I do a presentation at work, a mini blizzard is my "reward". I know we are not supposed to use food as a reward, but this helps me get through it. 400 calories is typically low enough that I can easily work it off with a good workout, and it counts as my splurge for the week.
Not using food as a reward is just made up by people with food issues. Maybe mom made them eat their veggies before they could eat dessert and they resent it? Do it if it feels right!0 -
Hmmm well, all I have to say about this is - a hot fudge sundae at Dairy Queen has less calories than some sandwiches at Subway. and taste better!0

They're not whipped up ice milk. They're whipped up oleo product. It's just flavoured fat. Literally.
Sorry to disappoint, but DQ does NOT use oleo. Where do people come up with such nonsense?0 -
Haven't been to a DQ in years, don't even know where one is but I will go to the local handmade ice cream shop and get a Death by Chocolate concrete. It is probably a good 800-900 calories as there is no small size.0
-
Now I want a Blizzard. Mint w/ oreos. Mmmmm.0
-
My Doctor told my wife I could have Diary queen when ever I wanted. The was only one stipulation I need to ride my bike to the DQ.
I have a DQ only 5 miles away which is good for a small cone. A blizzard requires I take the 9 mile ride to the DQ two towns over.0 -
The small ice cream treats at McDonald's are tasty and have less calories.
Dairy Queen is waaaaaaaaaaay tastier than McDonalds though... I like McDonald's burgers but their ice cream is pretty disappointing
my favourite dairy queen right now is their chocolate chunk frozen yoghurt (and no I'm not deluded by the fact that it's called frozen yoghurt I expect it has just as many calories as any of their other frozen desserts........... but it's oh so delicious!!!!)0 -

And hey, if you want an easy-breezy chocolate fix, the DQ Fudgecicle is only a fat-free 50 calories! :drinker:0 -
Isn't the "serving size" of ice cream ridiculously small?A medium blizzard is about 12 ounces of softserve, I think. Maybe 500 calories for just the softserve. Then add the candy, etc. That's a lot if you're comparing it to a serving of icecream you'd get out of your freezer. It's like sitting down with a pint of icecream and eating 3/4 of it. It's going to add up.
I LOVE Blizzards (esp Georgia Mud Fudge), but I agree. I've made a perfectly lovely sub for a blizzard by just getting some Breyer's vanilla bean (lighter than a lot of ice creams but with simpler ingredients and still really delish), measuring it out, and using my own mix-ins (oreos, nutter butters, even storebought cookie dough). I get more volume and the calories are usually lower than a mini. Two servings of Breyer's, a "cup" if you will, although I weigh it, is 260 calories, and then I can add in two smushed up cookies, a fun-sized candy bar, or a square of cookie dough for about another 100, and it's WAY bigger.0 -
I could easily eat a small or medium Blizzard but found a mini is good enough to fulfill the craving. I don't eat a lot of this kind of stuff anymore but good to see I could likely fit it in if I really wanted to. Fortunately I live where there aren't a lot of DQs anymore (Toronto). And the Tim Hortons near me will be discontinuing Coldstone Creamery. In my area, that leaves McD's for ice cream...ok for a quick treat but not nearly as decadent.0

There's a lot more to them than you realize. Here are the ingredients for a child sized soft serve (no cone, just the ice cream). I'd guess the milkfat and cornsyrup have something to do with the 140 cal per 92g. Add in candy, hot fudge/caramel syrup, flavoring etc and the calories are going to add up pretty quickly.\Dairy Queen Vanilla Soft Serve: Milkfat and nonfat milk, sugar, corn syrup, whey, mono and diglycerides, artificial flavor, guar gum, polysorbate 80, carrageenan, and vitamin A palmitate.
Here's a link to their nutritional info so you can do your own research:

Ah yes, the old completely designed and manufactured product made from various chemicals that achieve the goal of a certain flavor and mouthfeel at a price point that maximizes return on investment trick. It's depressing when I begin to think about how many of us are not even really eating real food.
...pink slime anyone?
all food has chemicals in it…0 -
Now I want a Blizzard! Cookie dough please!! I feel a cheat day in the near future...:devil:0

Sorry to disappoint, but DQ does NOT use oleo. Where do people come up with such nonsense?
I don't know. I know that my mom told me that if a recipe calls for oleo, then just use margarine. Wikipedia says it is either oil or margarine.0 -
yep.. the Funfetti Blizzard....my kids love that one... I looked up just the mini blizzard and it was 500 cals! So i get them the small ones. My 10 yr. old took it home the other night, ate dinner real quick and then got her blizzard and flipped it upside down like they did at Dairy Queen.. and it splatted all over the tile floor. So i guess he got the equivalent of 1/2 a mini blizzard with what was left on the side and bottom of the cup.0

can't be serious…

"Oleo (album), a 1962 album by jazz guitarist Grant Green"
Maybe that's what the Blizzard is made from!0 -
Isn't the "serving size" of ice cream ridiculously small?
I just had a serving size of Ben & Jerry's...the 4 ounce mini one. It was great, I think. I probably could eat two of them, but four ounces was fine.
I wish there was a DQ near my job, but Ben & Jerry's is not a bad substitute.0 -

Are you sure the poster meant crack dealer? From my experience, only *legal* drug sales reps are actually *pushers* of drugs. Drugs like crack and meth tend to sell themselves, no pushing needed. :laugh:0 -
Give me frozen yogurt from sweet frog any day! (With reece's cups and butterfinger...mmmmmmmm)
I...may have had that for lunch today. *looks around guiltily*0 -
I need to incorporate some Blizzards into my diet.
Even better than my weight gainer shakes and DQ has achieved maximum calorie density...a wonderful achievement for bulkers everywhere.0 -

DQ is actually made with milk and buttercream, not froyo. (That's why it tastes better than most other soft serve.)0 -
You obviously don't have an addiction to such things.Isn't the "serving size" of ice cream ridiculously small?

yea, but you still have someone on the corner "pushing" them …I just wish people would not make blanket idiotic statements like this ….oh well...0 -
