I disagree, it has its place, really good nutritional value for that 200 calories

I think "cuties" are not worth it. They are listed in the MFP database as cuties or clementines, but they are oranges about the size of a ping-pong ball -- and 40 calories -- each. Are you kidding me!

    beer
    take outs
    eating out

    or simply put drunchies

I also find dairy cream not worth it.

These are the blackest of beasts but I did cut down more items than that. Not overspending and sticking to my macros budget.

I am a people pleaser - always have been.

When eating dinner in other people's homes (friends or family) I always eat what they serve so their feelings won't be hurt. But I don't really like potatoes or rice or beans or their homemade dessert! What a waste of calories to eat all that food, that I don't really enjoy!!

Or eating items in a restaurant my hubby takes me to - it pleases him if I eat foods that he thinks I enjoy. He gets annoyed if I always order salads and chicken. But what a waste of calories to eat food just to please other people!

Club crackers. I spent 200 cals on them today, just eating them with my salad out of habit, not really thinking. And since they're not at all filling I went over by a good bit, but I'm still at less than 1,500 so I'm not too upset.

Dressing is either a fountain of calories or "healthy" and icky. I stick to vinaigrette.

BTW if you like club crackers try using a few to eat yogurt. It's a salty sweet DREAM.

Plain yogurt with fruit. I greatly prefer the Fage no-fat with real fruit- takes seconds to make and tastes so much better than that syrupy stuff.

YES!! Co-sign on that, you are so right

Tortilla wraps. I just can't justify like 200 cals for one.

Yes! We call them wraps here but even the paper thin Mountain Bread lite wholemeal ones are 72 cals each, and they are so tiny you need at least 2. Better to just make a sandwich and be done with it.

Rice, some potato dishes, PB&J sandwiches, most bread, granola bars, juice, soda, a bunch of stuff. Basically if I wouldn't miss it then I'll swap it for something that I like better. I'm all about eating what I love over what I don't really care for.

High fat/cal dressings. You have a few drops only and it adds hundreds of calories to your meal and leaves you starving for the rest of the day.
Chocolate as well, but hey you sometimes just need that chocolate bar :/

no drinks except pure juices are worth the calories!! i would NEVER waste my calories on things like pepsi, ice tea, coffee with sugar, etc...

water, unsweetened tea and fresh fruit/veggie juices all the way <3

also: water is free, why would i spend money on a drink? :p (at least here it is, the tap water comes straight from the mountains)

    Food that tastes bad.
Any food I like, I eat.

It's a question of *how much* you like it, though, isn't it? You only get so many calories a day, give or take. So if you're going to eat something worth 500 calories in one go, that means you have to eat less of something else. If the 500 calorie thing is awesome, I'll go for it. But if it's just 'sort of nice', it's not going to make the cut.

Funny thing, I find I am happier drinking water in a fast food place, as the fizzy drink just seems to tip the whole meal into 'not-worth-it' territory. I could do without fries, but that makes me sad. Burger+pop = deprived, burger+fries+water = happy, burger+fries+pop = too many calories for a 'not-worth-it' meal.

However, if I'm eating in a proper restaurant, I'm sad if I don't have my fizzy pop (I don't drink alcohol so that's my alternative), and I'm quite content to have three courses plus pop and take the consequences. It's like the overall quality of the meal pushes up the "worth it" threshold.

I feel a bit sad for everyone who's saying "I love love love it, but I can't have it!" - that sounds very different from "I like it, I could have it, but I don't feel it's worth it." You can have anything you want, and if you love love love it, are you SURE it isn't worth it for you? If your diet makes you sad, you won't stick to it long term.

You guys are gonna hate me now but...bacon. Never understood the love for it. It's not gross but not worth the hype, either. And especially not worth the calories.

Yay! I hate bacon. I think it is gross. The smell makes me feels ick, the taste and texture is just horrible.

    Bacon haters unite!

I don't like to drink my calories, so soda, juice, sugary coffee drinks are not worth the calories when I'm in a caloric deficit. When I'm in maintenance I think I'll have them more often though. I miss Starbucks

Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese is real tasty @ 160 Calories. It can be found refrigerated in the Produce Section. Marie also has a "light" version made with yogurt which drops it to 130 calories but it's "runny" and the taste suffers.

Nice green leaf salad @ 15 calories and 160 calorie Blue Cheese dressing = 175 Calorie meal.

    Can't be beat!!

So true about peanut butter! :D also, someone said about McDonalds burgers & co... totally!!!! I enjoy a good quality junk... a first class burger with good meat, veggies... yum!

Also fruit juices,..why why why?! kill a nice fruit, squize it smash it... get a ton of calories? I always drank water and never soda or fruit juice. Unless in a cocktail, but always sour, not sweet...that's another story :P

Trail mix. I can't stop at a serving. It's just that mindless goodness that is easy to rationalize because it's nuts and dried fruit, and a little bit of chocolate. But to enjoy it to satisfaction means more calories than I want to (or can!) spend.

Case in point- last night my husband and I nearly ate an entire container, snacking on it before dinner, after dinner and watching a movies. Didn't even realize it happened until 2/3 of the jar was gone. Ridiculous.

Pissed that I squandered my deficit on it. It's not *that* good...:grumble:

Have you tried almond butter? way more filling, less calories and instead of eating it in a sandwich I eat a snack of apples and almond butter to satisfy my sweet tooth.
  • Coca-cola or any regular soda. They regularly have around 330 calories at least, which is about what I eat for lunch. (6" Subway Club w/Cheese on 9-Grain Wheat)

I am not saying it isn't worth the calories, but I just found out that one of my favorite beers, Golden Monkey by Victory Brewing Co., is 270 calories per 12 oz.

    :brokenheart:
