TGIF!
@Tanya~Incredible steps/mileage on your Fitbit this week!
@Tracy~I still have boxes in my garage that I haven’t gone through, when I bought my house 5 years ago! I probably should just toss without even looking in them, but what if I find something I didn’t know I was missing?! Your plank time has really improved, awesome!
@Laurie~I’m sorry for your problem student and that administration didn’t take your word over the students, that doesn’t make sense – sounds like the student needs some one-on-one tutoring time. I hope some calmness can return to your classroom – the good news is that the week (and school year) is almost over! Enjoy climbing tonight.
@Laura~Glad you kept your doctor’s appointment, you’re doing all of the right things – I hope your knee/leg improves so you don’t need to see the orthopedist. Thinning hair can be the result of cortisol levels, which is the result of the stress you’ve been under this semester. Good idea to have your thyroid and adrenals checked to be on the safe side. Your semester is almost over, hang in there!
@Kaye~I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s daughter. Its hard to know what they need at such a tough time, but I know she appreciates your friendship and providing dinner.
@Aimee~Hooray!!! :flowerforyou: You definitely need to celebrate that achievement.
@Laurie/Karen/Susan~When is the T2T again? My cruise may fall thru since the friend I’m going with won’t be able to take vacation time in Sep/Oct – still need to verify but if she can’t go I want to do that with you all.
AFM~Met my trainer for running drills last night, he’s really testing my endurance and pushing me (need to shave off some time) – it was warm, but not humid and there was a nice breeze. All-in-all, good session. Not much happening this weekend – quiet night tonight I think, gym and meeting my mom at Ikea tomorrow, then session with trainer on Sunday.
Exercise Goals:
Sunday~Trainer DONE!
Monday~Cardio/Agility DONE! (3 mile run/agility drills)
Tuesday~Cardio DONE! (4.4 mile walk)
Wednesday~Cardio or Trainer NOT DONE!
Thursday~Cardio or Trainer DONE! (Running drills w trainer)
Friday~Rest Day
Saturday~Cardio
Have a great Friday!0 -

Just a quick post, very busy morning.
I got called for an interview for Monday at 1pm! I am crying happy tears. I didn't see my boss yesterday. However I texted her to let her know about the upcoming interview. She said one of the higher ups contacted her and asked what she thought about me having a summer position!!!! She gave a glowing recommendation!
I am so excited!0 -
Friday fitness – Boy was I heated! :explode:  I walked to the gym yesterday only to get to the front door and see a sign that read, “Gym closed today and will reopen at 8PM”. There were drop cloths everywhere and a handful of painters were inside painting away. Now, I appreciate that they are maintaining the gym and keeping it looking nice, but they COULD have and SHOULD have had a sign posted all week with their plans to close the gym on Thursday. I mean, it’s the courteous thing to do, right??
Waiting until 8PM to hit the treadmill just isn’t in the cards for me. I need to work out as soon as I get home from work because once I sit; it’s over, I am done for the night. Beside, working out in a freshly painted gym doesn’t sound very appealing. Sucking those fumes… :noway:
I opted to walk outside in the fresh, hot and humid air! I walked for 60 mins and met my Fitbit step goal, but it wasn’t consecutive mins (necessary bathroom break!) and was at a slower pace than what I would have done on the treadmill. I still got my sweat on, so I guess it’s all good.
@Laurie – Great time on your run on Monday! Unless I misunderstood something you said; this young man will be removed from your class and will be going to a class where there is a boy that was previously removed from your class? Are these two boys friends? If so, this latest boy surely played the administrator like a fiddle to get into the other class with his buddy! If that is the case, I really feel sorry for the other teacher!
@Robin – Now that the weekend is here, I hope you are able to relax before your surgery on Monday.
@Kaye – I'm so sorry to hear about your friend’s daughter. A parent just isn’t supposed to bury a child!
@Nettie – SO, SO, SO glad to hear the good news about the interview on Monday. :drinker: Woop Woop!! :drinker: I’m with p1xy, did I miss pics of your new floors? Or have you not posted yet?
@Brandy – Welcome to the thread, come on in, take a seat and get comfortable. This is a great thread! It has sure helped me stay motivated. The guys and gals in here are awesome!
@ushkii – I was wondering where you had been. Sorry to hear about your ankle. Don’t let it derail your efforts, you’ve been doing so well!
@p1xy – Welcome back! I can relate to falling behind on the thread and it taking so long to catch up. That happened to me a few weeks ago. I think it took me 4 days to catch up on 3 days missed!
@Tracey – great job on the planks! I haven’t even attempted those or the wall sits yet. Maybe the next time they come up as a challenge. Have you seen the story floating around Facebook about the teenager who set a world record for doing a forearm plank for EIGHTY MINUTES?? Yes, I said MINUTES! And I surely DO NOT mean to tarnish your accomplishment because it is AWESOME and more than I could do! But, I’m just saying… 80 minutes??? Ah, to be a teenager!
@Tanya – I am happy if I can come even close to you and Heidi on my Fitbit friend’s rankings so I was ready to scream about all the steps I would have missed if I didn’t think of a way to manually log my efforts when I forgot my Fitbit. The pedometer on my HRM watch just really sucks. The whole gadget just really sucks. It’s basically a watch and timer at this point. So, using it wasn’t an option. Logging time and distance from my daughter’s Fitbit seemed to do the trick as close as possible. It was funny, I made her walk step for step with me, even when I went to the Ladies room I made her follow me to the stall door! :blushing:
@Rain – Like Kelley, I am glad you are doing the right thing with your Dr appts. I know you miss your running and are concerned about losing everything you’ve worked toward, but just think how bad it would be if you injured yourself even worse. You could potentially put yourself out of commission for a much longer period of time. Your body is telling you to slow down so make sure you listen to it!
@Aimee – Congrats on your latest goal! You have to be so incredibly proud of yourself and with such great reason! Keep it up and you will be at your goal weight in no time!
Treadmill times:
Tuesday, 3/25 - 2.53 miles in 60 mins
Thursday, 3/27 - 2.70 miles in 60 mins
Tuesday, 4/1 - 2.88 miles in 60 mins
Thursday, 4/3 - 2.35 miles in 60 mins
Tuesday, 4/8 – rested the shin splints
Thursday, 4/10 – 2.62 miles in 60 mins
Tuesday, 4/15 – 2.54 miles in 60 mins
Thursday, 4/17 - skipped the gym.
Tuesday, 4/22 - 2.98 miles in 60 mins.
Thursday, 4/24 – GYM CLOSED!! :explode:
Until next time; wishing everyone peace, love and weight loss! :flowerforyou:
And….
Don’t sweat the small stuff, just SWEAT!!0 -
@tanya949 and @robinB012: Thanks for the welcoming. I really need a group to keep me motivated and I'm very excited about a challenge starting for May! Exciting!
Fitness Friday: I started the "Ease into Couch 2 5K" program yesterday. I've downloaded the app previously and gave it a half hearten attempt. But my goal has been to start running more. So day one is completed! I know alternating between running and walking for 45 sec increments doesn't sound like much to most people but for this girl it is a huge deal. About this time last year I could barely walk for 15 mins straight much less run. I had severe knee issues. So to have an average pace of 15:19 of run/walking a mile is a major accomplishment for me. Even last year when I was walking a few times a week, my best time was usually 17 mins a mile. I am determined to to this! I don't really care if I'm ever the fastest runner I just want to say I CAN run!
I feel like I've been doing pretty good at getting my cardo in, but I really think I should probably try to do more strength training. I can pretty easily motivate myself to go walking/ running/ biking etc. But right now I can't afford to go to the gym, so my only strength training comes from DVD workouts, my hand weights and resistance bands. And I have a huge problem motivating myself to really put more effort into that. So that is where I need a lot of improvement.
To stay on track this weekend is not going be easy, but I am determined! Tonight my mom wants to cook for my family- steak and potatoes. Sounds yummy but I may love baked potatoes just a little too much. So portion control will be what I have to focus on. Tomorrow will be an even harder day to stay on track. My son has an early morning soccer game then we are leaving to go to my in-law's house- in the "country." Which should be fun, but I think I heard BBQ ribs is on the menu. OMG really people? j/k I plan on bringing some healthy snacks for everyone to share and hopefully since we will be outdoors most of the day I can get plenty of activity in. Also I hope to get up bright and early in the morning and go for a walk/run. Saturday's focus will be on not snacking and getting in lots of activity! Sunday is a pretty routine day for us, so I shouldn't have too many troubles staying on track! (as long as no one invites us to go out to eat after church on sunday...lol)
TGIF everyone!!!0 -
Good morning everyone. Today is a slow kinda day here. I went to go get the kiddos off to school and found out my nephew is nice and sick so no school for him. I bundled him over to my house after we dropped off sissy and he is in my sons room watching cartoons. The doggies are NOT pleased since this means no walk today. I am going to get out the WII in just a bit so i can get in a little something today. I made a yummy roast yesterday so with the leftover meat and broth I am attempting a beef pot pie today. We will have to wait and see how it turns out I invited my sil to just come here after work since their daughter has a sleepover and my brother is working a 12 today. Her and Austin can try the pot pie with me and my son. Other then that not a whole lot going on in Tammy land. I have been having some issues with feeling wozzy off and on for a little while. I think my blood sugar levels are dipping down. For some reason when the women in my family get older this starts to become an issue. Well I asked my daughter to grab me a soda for a quick sugar kick yesterday and she brings home this monster huge code red Mt Dew which is my favorite. Yes I drank it all:blushing: Thank goodness for exercise calories:laugh: Well everyone have a great day and remember to go grab some water:drinker: :flowerforyou: :drinker: :drinker:0

What a great group! I'd love to join! I started off my day on the elliptical for 25 minutes, which is only a third of the workout I'm scheduled to do today. I have a hard time motivating myself with exercise and really let myself off the hook so I made a vision board of inspirational sayings and motivation to help me stick to it!0

I stumbled across this post in another thread and thought it was worth posting here:This is from fitness blogger Vic Margay.http://www.vicmagary.com/blog/fitness-motivation/
“Motivated, motivated, hell yeah I’m motivated. Ooo Ah, I wanna kill somebody. Killlllll!!!”
As part of the Army’s brainwashing process (better known as Basic Training), mantras like the one above shouted in unison by a platoon of young men with shaved heads often made Basic Training feel like some sort of twisted psycho cheerleading camp instead of preparation to become Infantry soldiers.
But we were motivated.
Or were we? If you include fear of punishment and peer pressure as motivation, then the environment at Ft. Benning was certainly motivating.
But were we self-motivated? No, most of us standing in heel-to-toe lines and referring to our new Army buddies by last name only at Ft. Benning, Georgia in the autumn of 1998 were not self- motivated. And it is acquiring and maintaining this self-motivation that I am often asked about in the realm of diet and fitness. But here’s the thing…
Lack of motivation to follow a healthy diet and commit to consistent exercise is a myth.
You are going to die. And neglecting your health and fitness is more likely to hasten your departure. Furthermore, the days you do have will be spent with less energy and more pain if you choose to eat crap and be sedentary. The motivation, the “why”, to exercise and eat nutritious foods in appropriate quantity is present and strong. The bigger mystery is why we choose to ignore the need for proper diet and exercise in the face of obvious requirement.
We do not need motivation. We need decision.
We need unwavering non-negotiable decision. And yes, I know that the pic above was not taken during Hurricane Sandy (although I thought it was when I posted it to my Facebook page). But it was taken during a torrential down pour at some point in recent history. It absolutely captures the fortitude and decision of those soldiers to stand by their post no matter what hardship may be encountered.
If those soldiers can decide to endure the elements, then we can decide to put down the damned pizza and beer.
Or forgo the free bagels at the office. Or wake up a half hour early to exercise. Or keep a food journal everyday. Or what ever else we know we need to do but keep failing to commit to because it is “hard”.
Enduring chemotherapy is hard.
Hitting a fast ball in the major leagues in hard.
Negotiating nuclear disarmament from a hostile nation is hard.
Saying goodbye to a loved one in the hospital or the veterinarian’s office for the last time is hard.
But putting down the cookies and picking up the spinach? That’s only as hard as the story we tell ourselves.
What is often called lack of motivation is actually lack of discipline and lack of habit. I’ve posted about discipline and habit before – those entries lack the sexy headlines such as “1 weird trick to lose belly fat” and often do not get more than the cursory glance. And that’s unfortunate because it is discipline and habit that hold the keys to not only losing weight or getting strong, but to anything that we want in life.
You already know what to do to lose weight and get in shape. The smaller details will vary but the big picture is always to eat real food in appropriate quantity and move in a manner that is continually challenging. The problem is not lack of knowledge or lack of motivation. The problem is lack of decision.
Decide. Now.
Share your thoughts on motivation, decision, and the mental/emotional hurdles we face when it comes to diet, fitness, and weight loss in the comments below.
Stay strong0 -
Finally the woosh!!! I weighed in at 204.4 this morning! Thats 100.6 pounds lost Goal number 3 met! 4.5 pounds til oneder land
Congrats! That is so cool, glad you are part of our group.
I am logging again but can't go for my walk, I am walking around again on my own, no crutches.
Today went to wendys and had a grilled chicken and side salad with diet coke, nice, good choice. But then one person we were with got the wrong burger and offer the othe to me, I split it and then ate some fries, oh man it is so easy to mess up.
Well keep on keeping on. Half my water is done and going to refell now so that should be good.0 -
"Move in a manner that is continually challenging"... I LOVE that! Thanks for posting that RobinB.
@Nettie... Awesome news about the interview, so very happy for you. It sounds very promising!!
I've been talking about fitness all week it seems, so I'm just gonna lay here on the couch... Every muscle in my body aches from all my exercise this week. I'm not overdoing it, just getting back to it after a break last week. Tomorrow will be a rest day I think, plus I have to do my taxes. I will post my final fitbit stats for the week tomorrow.0 -
Trying to find somewhere to kind of join up in on MFP...I'm kind of in a different situation. I have a looot of weight do lose. About 200lbs. I've lost 54 so far. I had a weight loss surgery on Jan 22nd called Duodenal Switch. I've had to alter my diet in a crazy manner due to the malabsorption of the surgery. I have to eat 100g-120g or more of protein on a daily basis because I don't absorb almost half of it. I only absorb 20% of the fat I eat, so I have to get in like 100g a day to get enough fat for basic body needs. I can't always get that in. My stomach is half the size it was, so I have to have more nutrition with half the space! It's a crazy adjustment. I eat low carb, high fat, high protein. I drink protein shakes daily.
The weight is coming off slowly but surely. I log every single day - I have to, to watch my protein, carbs, and fat. Calories are mostly irrelevant because what MFP shows is not what my body actually absorbs.
I never thought I'd miss veggies so much. All I get to eat is meat and cheese, meat and cheese. Ugh.
I'm trying to start getting out for walks, but I don't have as much stamina as I did pre-surgery. It's getting better, day by day.
It's just hard to find anywhere on the MFP forums that isn't people just looking to lose 20lbs or get "cut" or whatever - not as many who need to lose 100lbs+.0 -
Hi everyone! I'm new to this board. I am hoping to get encouragement and support. I am on a road that is much needed. I need to do this for my health. I am already feeling great and look forward to continued success and staying on track using this app. Hope to hear from some of you soon!0

Bump again - I want to catch up on everyone's weeks, but since we're about to flip over I probably will not do personals and just pick up from here. Glad to be back.0

Rain-Great job on keeping your doctors appoint. It is tough not being able to do something you love but giving your legs a rest from running will be good for them. Running is a great exercise however it is one of the most demanding exercises for putting stress on your joints.
Robin B- That was bad luck with the gym today and they should have posted a notice all week. Kudos for getting outside to take a walk. I am not sure whose class he is going to but I have already warned the teacher where his friend is to say no to the transfer. My class was nice today without him there. I guess he is sitting in the office doing nothing so he still gets his way.
Nettie- Yeah, to the job interview and the recommendation from your boss, it is great when the administrations recognizes what a great asset you are to the organization. :flowerforyou: :drinker:
Kelley- The T2T is September 28. We are arriving in NYC on Sept. 27 and staying until Sept. 30. I hope you will be able to join but sorry your other vacation may get cancelled.
Aimee- Congratulations!!!! 100 lbs is a huge accomplishment. :drinker:
Kaye- Sorry to hear about friend’s daughter, I pray that the family finds peace in this situation:sad: . Great job on getting in 3.6 miles today and to put it in perspective that is more than a 5K-Whoo-Whoo.
Brandy- Welcome, It is a smart idea to start out running in short increments, you will be amazed at how quickly you will build endurance for running.:flowerforyou:
Tammy- Have a great weekend.
LIckityspit-Welcome. This is a great group of people. Weight lifting is good for your muscles and helping to strengthen the muscles you use during various exercises. :flowerforyou:
Tanya- We all need a rest day or weekend from time to time.
Catecholamine-Welcome to the group. You have found a wonderful network of people. We all have different amount of weight to lose so we understand the challenges of losing weight. Hope you come back and visit with us often. I am sure you will rebuild your stamina quickly with the walking. 54 pounds is great in only 4 months.:flowerforyou:
Jezz94-Welcome, you will find encouragement here. Hope you check in often and get to know all of us.:flowerforyou:
Susan-Welcome home. Hope you had a great trip.
I hope my weeks will start to calm down from this point forward. I was so busy this week that I did not have time to think much less relax. My body responded by giving me a sore jaw so I have been worrying all day if I was getting tooth ache. Now, I realize that is most likely due to stress or the night guard pushing against my mouth. I tend to sleep on my side and it is not always possible with that thing. The other possible answer is that TOM is starting and the weather is warm, humid and rainy today-pressure systems moving through the area do not make me happy.
This weekend I will be helping at Special olympics so my exercise will be walking to and from the games about 2 mile round trip. The best part is that I won't be eating a lot of snacks since they are not around. I will not bring much with me since it is not easy to carry bags onto the Naval Academy.
Have great weekend and I will catch up with you all tomorrow. Now, I get to sleep for a few hours.  :bigsmile:0 -
I hope you all have an excellent weekend and a lovely weekend ahead. I apologize for not keeping up with the thread this week but I have been running from appointment to apppointment and have gotten them all done, plus a few extra tests and CAT scans that got ordered along the way. I am nervous as a high strung cat about this surgery and am surprised by the reaction of my friends - they are so lackadaisical about it - it just surprises me. Well, I guess thats on me!
My brothers never returned my call when I left messages that I was having surgery - its just behond them caring. One of my other friends cancelled on picking me up the day I'm discharged so I had to scramble and make new plans. Quite frustrating.
This is my last evening on line. I won't be back until surgery is over and I am feeling better and ready to be back to business.
So you all take care and watch out for each other I should be back around Thursday or so.
God Bless You All! Robin0 -
Robin-best wishes to you. I hope that all goes well.
Aimee-congratulations on losing 100#.
Laurie-enjoy the Special Olympics.
Welcome to the newlings. If you will come often and participate, you will get lots of support.
Today was kind of different. I had to make a trip to Costco (out of town, of course) to get some final supplies for tomorrow's luncheon. The only walking I got was an hour at a slow pace while shopping. We chose to eat at a favorite Japanese restaurant. I chose tempura udon. It wasn't as high calorie as I was afraid it might be and it was sure good.
I don't like to wish my life away, but I will be glad when tomorrow is over. I hope that I can get things done early enough to get a good walk.
Enjoy your weekend. Onward and downward. Kaye0 -
Whew. . . I read pages 12-19 because I had to know what's been going on with each of you.
Vacation was so good and I completely disconnected. I didn't use the Internet Cafe once. The ship, ports, beaches and people were just lovely. The first day leaving Ft. Lauderdale was drizzling, but by the time we landed in the Bahama's on Monday it was all sun and we enjoyed a day on the beach. Tuesday we were at sea. Wednesday we landed in St. Thomas. Our excursion was visiting Devil's Bay, which were these really cool caves we walked through and it opened to the most amazing beach scene with crystal blue water and we played there too. On Thursday, we were in St. Marteen. We ended up doing a very touristy helmet dive, but Cyrus thought it was totally cool and got to snorkel as well. Friday and Saturday were back out to sea heading back to Ft. Lauderdale landing Sunday AM. I allowed Cyrus to check himself in and out of the Kids Club, which he loved having the freedom. I had to chuckle though because every time I saw him he had either a plate of pizza or two ice cream cones in his hands.
I did have a "little" melt down on Friday night. It was a formal night and I was going to go, but I put on the dress I brought and felt totally fat. This led to me being depressed about being single and lonely and blah, blah, blah. Thank goodness Cyrus wasn't around because I wouldn't want him to see me. It took awhile to cry it out, but I pulled myself together and really tried to get myself refocused. With that said, I only gained 2 lbs on the cruise - Woo Hoo!!!
Work this week has been completely insane. I've got so many projects, problems, new initiatives, etc. . . it's been a bit overwhelming to be honest and I just haven't had a chance to check in. Thursday was a huge NSV for me. We actually had the company Sweet Street Desserts present a dessert program to us. I'll have to post the picture, but I did not have one single bite (seriously). Salted Carmel Cheesecake, Molton Lava Cake, Blondies, Rice Krispie Treats, Cookies, Brownies, 7-Layer Bars, Chocolate Raspberry Bars, and the list goes on. It was INSANE, but I have not had one bite. SO HARD, but I did it.
This week I have gotten myself refocused. I've been reading a book on metabolism and going to mix things up a bit. I've also stopped Diet Coke cold turkey too. The last one was on Sunday, which is a shocker for me since I was totally addicted. Needless to say, I've had some major headaches and serious withdrawal. As I was looking back on my journey, this is one thing that never changed and I just wonder if this was one of my obstacles. Who knows? I haven't really exercised, but just focused on eating clean and drinking 120+ oz of water each day. I weighed in on Monday and will get my 1 week total this coming Monday. I feel pretty good and it's been good flushing my system of all the toxins. I also adjusted my weight so I know exactly where I'm starting.
It's good to be back and I missed my friends!!!!0 -
@robin--I'll be thinking warm thoughts and sending good vibes in your direction!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
@kaye--so sorry to hear about your friends' daughter--how awful. I'm sure they appreciated your kindness.
@aimee--congrats!!! :drinker:
I have had a crazy week. All kinds of drama at work--I'll fill you in later. I'm waiting now for my friend to pick me up to go spend the night at her house in Lake Geneva, so no time for more personals.0 -
Saturday - I am still hanging in at 217. My sodium has been a bit high lately and I have not been getting in my water. This morning Brian went to the movies while I stayed home and cleaned the turtle tank. When he got home we went out to get some supplies for the garden then went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was really nice because the rain cleared and the sun came out for a bit. I really enjoyed the fresh air.
Welcome Newbies! Jump right in and join us. It is always great to have new members to our group. :flowerforyou:
ushkii - Sorry to hear about your sprain. Glad to hear you no longer need your crutches. I hope you are feeling better soon.
p1xyn1xy - I never got around to posting pictures of the reno. I really should do that so you all can see.
Sorry to hear your kids are struggling at the moment. Please don't blame yourself and know that you and your husband didn't do anything wrong. I hope everything goes well with your middle's testing.
Laurie - I am sorry to hear that you were having trouble with one of your students and administration didn't seem to address any of the real problems going on. I would be very irritated too. I hope it all works out.
Rain - I am glad you were able to seek medical advice for your leg. I hope you continue to heal.
Kaye - I am so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter.
aimee - Congrats on your loss and meeting another goal!!!
RobinB - Sorry to hear your gym was closed for renovations. I would have been irritated too. I agree that they should have had signs posted all over the gym to let everyone know of the closure.
Brandy - That is great that you are doing C25K. I started it as well but am taking some time off due to discomfort in my knees. I wanted to start it again this week however after running around with my students this week I can feel that slight discomfort again. :ohwell: I cannot wait until I am 100% and can get back to it.
Robin - Thinking of you. Hoping the surgery goes well and you are back to yourself in no time.
Susan - Sounds like the cruise was amazing. LOL to Cyrus and the food in his hands. I am very impressed that you only gained 2 lbs on the cruise.
Skinny - Sorry to hear you are having some work drama. Hope you have a great time with your friend!0 -
I just lost my post... grrr... will have to make it short and sweet now. Taxes took 4 hours to complete from scratch this morning, and for all my hard work I actually got a refund! I was able to claim a portion of the price I paid for my new vehicle last year (I use it for work) and that made all the difference.
I am finished my "diet break" and am now back to eating at deficit. I went from 215 before my exercise break 2 weeks ago down to 211, then up to 217. Today I was 216.2... based on what I've read (I've gained 5 lbs of glycogen stores/water), I should drop those 5 lbs again in the next week or so. I sure hope so! I'm really not hungry today, so the transition from 2800 to 2200 calories was not as hard as anticipated. I got a good long walk in today, despite needing a rest day. I wasn't that sore this morning and I wanted to make my fitbit goals. Then I went grocery shopping, forgetting the celery I needed to make lentil soup.
I did end up making my fitbit goals this week (Tues to Sat), I hope to keep up this pace, I'm going to try and see what happens. I am still itching to try C25K, but was crazy sore this week. Maybe I could replace it once a week instead of a walk/hike.
This week's Fitbit goals:
1. 12,000 steps
2. 8km distance
3. 45 active minutes
4. 2500 calories burned.
Tues: 14,737 steps, , 9.9 km, 68 AM, 3687 cals
Wed: 19,060 steps, 12.8 1km, 56 AM, 3230 cals
Thurs: 15,059 steps, 10.2 km, 94 AM, 3524 cals
Fri: 16,885 steps, 11.4 km, 66 AM, 3460 cals
Today (so far): 13835 steps, 9.42 km, 82 AM, 2517 cals0 -
Robin Good luck with your surgery. Sending prayers your way.
Susan- Glad you had a wonderful cruise. Congrats on avoiding the deserts.
Kaye- Walking around Costco is always a long walk no matter how fast you go.
Special Olympics was fun today and I get to do it again tomorrow, since I do a really great job keeping it organized and running as smoothly as possible. As much as I like handling awards on Saturday it is not my favorite job on Sunday. However, I do have a plan for tomorrow to keep the awards moving. I will manage to keep the running heats together to present those awards then the field event we will have separate sections set up for each event. Then the kids can pick up their awards and take them to the announcer to have them presented. We don't run the field events by heat but on a first come first serve basis since the running events take priority. It is very difficult to get the heats together because the kids are all over the place. The other bad thing about is that I will not be getting in a lot of walking but I will walk home tomorrow so that will help some. The best is I will not be eating snacks throughout the day.
Hope you have a great Sunday.0 -
Saturday Success: First of all, I've not had a Diet Coke since Sunday. This is truly a huge accomplishment since I am addicted. I can't even tell you how much I drank in a day. I've also been drinking at least 100 oz and closer to 120-140 oz of water each day. I've never gone potty so much in my whole entire life. LOL!!! Second, I've been focused on eating clean and making better choices. My food dairy has been really solid all week. Third, on Thursday as I posted already, I did not have one single bite, lick or anything of those amazing desserts. This was huge for me. Forth, I made it through the first week back from vacation, which was very, very long. Overall, I would say the week was solid. Not easy, but I feel satisfied.
@ Tanya - Your daily steps are amazing. WOW!! You go girl!
@ Laurie - Thank you for volunteering with Special Olympics. My uncle has cerebral palsy and some of his fondest memories were participating with SO. He had the biggest smile on his face crossing that finish line and getting his award.
@ Nettie - It sounds like a productive nice. Always nice to check things off.0 -
The event that I was serving lunch for was very successful. We had enough food left over that I am sure everyone had all they wanted. Those who helped with the event took the leftovers home. Everyone was very appreciative of the meal. So glad it is over.
This evening Cathy couldn't walk at the start so DH started out with me. He dropped off and I went to meet Cathy. Then Nicole decided she wanted to join us, so we met up with her and kept walking. I walked 6.24 miles this evening. That on top of being on my feet all day in the kitchen doing the lunch, I am really tired.
So glad for all of the successes I read about. My brain is a bit too foggy tonight to do any personals.
Enjoy your Sunday. Onward and downward. Kaye0 -
Friday Fitness: I really need to get going on my steps. I'm hoping to start walking at my lunch time. I'm not a fast walker, but just getting out would be good. I get half hour lunch but since I work from home, I can really eat anytime, so if I used my half hour for walk and ate while working it should work. Just not sure about skipping my main break during the day. We'll see.
@Laurie...I've never worked the Special Olympics, but I've heard it's very rewarding.
@Kaye...I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter. Life is a mystery at times. It's not fair that some people have to bury their own children. I'm sure your friend is thankful for you and your help with food. Hope your event went well today.
@aimee...Congratulations on 100 pounds...onederland is calling!!
@Nettie...whoo-hoo on the interview...that's step one!!
@RobinB...Make sure you say something to the gym management. I agree that there should have been signs earlier -- some people really work their calendars around gym time and that's not being very respectful of people's times. I can't imagine anyone being able to do 80 minutes of a plank...wow!!
@Brandy...45 second increments is a great accomplishment. Keep at it.
@Tammy...poor nephew...hate being sick but hate watching kids be sick more.
@Ushkii...wishing you fast healing with your ankle.
@Susan...sounds like a great time and I laughed about Cyrus' pizza and ice cream cones -- Jacob was the same way. I'm sorry you had a tough Friday night, but like you said -- 2 lbs on a cruise is great!
Saturday Success: This week's workout includes 4 flights of steps and 1 lap at my gym (4 times). I chose to do the steps first and then the lap but wasn't able to complete the entire lap without slowing to a walk. Well today, I decided to try it the other way and while it took me 45 seconds to jog the lap, I was able to go the whole way without walking. Quick 15-30 second break (15 on the first time -- 30 by the fourth) and then I did the steps. I wasn't able to do them as quickly, but they still did their job and I just felt better to be able to do the laps. I also was able to do more "toe" push ups this week than I have in the past. I don't get very far down, but got 15 done the first time and 10 done the second time.
Had a good day today...slept in and took a nap (I feel like I finally caught up on sleep). Did the gym and then spent 5 hours babysitting my two nephews (and my daughter). The 2 year old loved me today and I even got cuddle time (he used to cry 10 minutes every time he was left with someone other than his daily babysitter, mom or dad). Met my calorie goal and with a few more gulps, got my water in. Now to hang out with my husband and watch an episode of the Americans.
Have a good night and a wonderful Sunday.

Bump. Sorry I haven't been on the site, but I am going thru some heartbreaking times. Havent been eating, hardly at all, but don't seem to be losing and measurements appear to be up. Cant focus on that at this point in my life. Goal for today is to eat at least something,

Kaye- Great walk today on top of the luncheon. Amazing!
Katrena- Hope things get better for you, sending you positive thoughts.
ushkil- Glad to hear that your ankle is on the mend.
tlh-I love special olympics and seeing the look on the faces is priceless. It is my favorite event every year.
Special Olympics was great. I did make it clear that I don't want to do the awards again on Sundays. I prefer the field events. I must say we did get the awards done by 2:30 which I think is a good time. It is always confusing at the end of the event trying to get all the awards out to the athletes before they go home. The hardest part for the awards is that the track event take priority over the awards so we get ready to announce the awards and everyone leaves to go to the running event. Of course they don't come back for a while. It could have been worse today so not to bad.
This week should be a little calmer for me, I hope.
Sunday- Rest- but spent most of day standing. walked home but stopped for ice cream on the way. The treat was needed today.
Monday- Trainer workout
Tuesday- gym
Wednesday- Pool ( I hope)
Thursday- Trainer
Friday- Climbing
Saturday- water aerobics and climbing0 -
tlh: great job on the planks!
aimee! Congrats on hitting your goal!
Nettie, that's awesome about the position!!!! YAY!
Robin... best wishes... see you when you get back!
Susan, I'm glad it was a lovely trip. I'm sorry about your melt down. Most of us have been there. :frown: Congrats on shaking it off.
Also... nice job on kicking the Diet Coke habit. I'm down to 1 can a day. But wow the headaches were vicious.
Kaye, sorry about your friend's daughter... that's just horrible. Great walk today though!!
Laurie, it sounds like you had a great time this weekend. So much fun!
I'm so tuckered tonight. I'm just going to do my exercises and hit the hay. NIGHT EVERYONE!!!0 -
Laurie - I'm glad the special olympics were a success! Enjoy your relaxing now that it's over.
KJeffries - I am so sorry you're going through a difficult time. Hugs and good thoughts coming your way. Don't worry about your eating right now, just do what you need to do to get through this hard time. The rest will come later.
Ushkii - glad your ankle is healing up!
tlh - good job on the stairs - that is something I hate with a passion but it's such a great workout. Really gets the heartrate up!
grandmakaye - great walk again today, you're doing so well!
Susan - awesome job with the coke, that is such a tough thing to give up. I love my diet coke too but try hard to limit it, along with other things that contain artificial sweeteners. And bravo for passing up the desserts.. you're on a roll!
Tanya - sounds like your diet break was a success. I'm glad the switch back to your deficit wasn't too hard! I need to set some better fitbit goals for myself as well, especially now that training for the 1/2 marathon is winding down. Love my fitbit!
Jnettie - sodium is a big one for me, too. I'm supposed to be low-sodium due to my blood pressure but I take a pill to help with that, so I tend to ignore my sodium intake more than I should. It definitely makes a difference! Love turtles, I used to have one as a pet - his name was Miles. Don't ask me why.
Robin - best of luck with your surgery! I'll be thinking about you.
Welcome to the newlings, dive right in and you'll find this to be a very supportive place.
AFM - it's been a bit of a down week up here in the frozen tundra. We had snow again, which just made me mad. I had to go on NSAIDs for my ankle, which causes fluid retention, which means my weight is up - which also makes me mad! So basically, I'm just one mad chick at the moment. Also, it appears my family has forgotten that it is my birthday tomorrow, so that's also a bummer. A few positives though - we did a 10 mile training walk today and KICKED ITS BUTT. Our average pace was 4.0 mph (fastest mile was 14:12) and it felt amazing. My ankle is about three times its normal size tonight and so sore, but the rest of me is doing pretty well. I was very proud of my bestie and I for pulling that one off, in the cold weather and off-and-on showers. The other thing is not about me at all, but my 12 year old son. He went on a trip with his science club last week, and one of their stops was a prominent medical school. the assistant dean of the school was very taken by him, picking him out of the crowd of 27 kids and saying how advanced he is and how much potential he has. My son has asperger's and adhd, and has always been completely fixated on science, so this trip was very much his "thing". Anyway, things are not easy with him these days, between puberty and the other issues, so it was nice to have a proud mom moment.
Sunday Share: for the newlings, and maybe I'll think of some random tidbits for the rest of the crew as well. I'm Heidi, from eastern canada... 35 lbs into my 100 lb journey. Racewalking is my exercise of choice and I'm getting ready for my second 1/2 marathon in the last 6 mos... it's on Mother's Day. I have two boys, 8 and 12. I work in a daycare - cooking/cleaning for 60 kiddos and spending some time in the classroom as well. I adore coffee and chocolate. Have a photo retouching gig on the side, helping families who have lost babies to stillbirth/prematurity/neonatal complications. I am currently battling a very angry ankle and my physiotherapist just shakes her head in exasperation and tapes me up so I can keep training for this 1/2 marathon. Expect I'll be taking a break after it's done, hopefully long enough to heal up for the next one that we're registered for in October. Last week I got to pet an absolutely gorgeous reticulated python, and a super cool chinese water dragon, when a reptile zoo visited the daycare where I work. I think I was more excited than most of the kids, I love reptiles! :laugh:0
