Love this thread. Been lifting since February, really pleased with my progression far.
Although, I've had a pretty indulgent weekend so it feels like I'm back to square one!
Looking at all the amazing results definitely makes me want to hit the gym in the morning, so thanks for that everyone!

thats amazing!! I will be 61 in Sept and just started doing kettlebell routines, I live in the country and not near a gym, wondering about doing some other weight training at home.

Me with 10 months of weight lifting, moderate cardio, a small calorie restriction, and no "off-limit" foods. I've got a long ways to go, but just love weight lifting, the slow & steady results, and the way my body is changing. Sure beats the yo-yo dieting, hours of cardio, constant hunger and cravings of the many other attempts I've made to lose weight in the past. I just keep showing up at the gym, logging on MFP, stay off the scale, and just trust the process will eventually work. I'm going to wear this fat off with persistence. :)

Wow... you all look Amazing!!! Thank you ladies for posting your great successes!

Nur_spass, it's so awesome that your trainer has helped you!

I'm having difficulties with my trainer.. he insists I do cardio and only a bit of circuit using body weight or light weights. I keep telling him that cardio is ALL I've been doing for about two years. I lost some weight at first, but lately I've been stuck.

1st day of training I told him that I wanted to do heavy free weights and wanted to learn correct squat form, etc.. He completely ignored me and did this stupid routine using bosu and 8lb weights, which really didn't challenged me...

I may just ditch him and do it on my own. Too bad hubby doesn't want to help me, he says he's too self-conscious to workout @ the gym. :(

i'd be inclined to find someone else to help you with lifting. There are Stronglifts videos that you can watch to help with squat form, but I don't think I could have done it without help. Maybe have a search online for someone new or ask your gym if they know anyone? I was lucky in that my trainer trains at my gym and he helped me one day and let me know that he does training sessions.

You are paying your trainer good money and he should be helping you achieve the goals that you want to achieve!

It's changed over time. Previously I ate at about a 20% deficit from what I should maintain at. Currently I am at about a 10%. The number I maintain at has gone up because I went through a bulk recently and added some lean mass. I maintain around 2400 calories currently.
