Yes it is difficult at a woman to put on some muscle! It has taken me years to put on the muscle I have and I try and train very hard and heavy in the weight room. Also make sure that your getting enough protein and nutrient dense foods! Weights are the way to shaping your physique!1

Lifting 5x per week on a deficit and working with a trainer. I killed it every single session.

My middle might not look it, but it's benefited the most from my lifting! But I'm extremely proud of my arms.

How do I lift with a significant neck problem? I can lift about 50 lbs, when I move soil or feed bags, but doing it causes a lot of neck pain hours later.1

Wow! what was your weight routine ? How many days/amount of time per week? What exercises and how long to lose your 52 lbs? You look amazing.:-):smile:
Me? I lift 4-5 days a week for about 40 minutes and do almost no cardio. It took me 3 years to lose it all. I have a custom plan, but it's a traditional bodybuilding routine customized for my weak points.1 -
I do not have any proper before pics as I was very very camera shy due to the weight I had gained. However, I did find one taken on holiday just before I started on MFP at the age of 44.
I lost 37lbs through a reasonable caloric deficit and lifting over the course of a year. Since then I have done a bulk and a cut and am now reversing back up ready to bulk again. A couple of my most recent pictures, now at 46 years old:

All of you ladies did a fantastic job with your before and after.
My only reservation about weight training is it won't reflect on the scale.
Any tips on why I should begin now my weight training? Or if not why so?

Hey all
I haven't been lifing very long - only 3/4 months and have only lost 4/5lb. There isn't a massive difference yet... but my clothes are certainly fitting me a lot better. Still a long way to go and a lot of baby weight to shift but i feel as though i'm heading in the right direction!

This was over year ago at my leanest, after 4-5 months of xfit and weight lifting; previously I was a cardio bunny with NO upper body strength.
The biggest change in my body that I have noticed was in my shoulders/arms not fitting into blazers/jackets/blouses. It's a rather expensive result of weight training. but I am otherwise pleased with the results.0 -

The biggest change in my body that I have noticed was in my shoulders/arms not fitting into blazers/jackets/blouses. It's a rather expensive result of weight training. but I am otherwise pleased with the results.

Just a few recent shots. I am a former anorexic, then I was simply normal weight, but somewhat flabby and unfit. I also have COPD and only 68% lung function. I do a combination of weights, boxing, circuits, cycling and running.
Now 14% bodyfat and a healthy weight. Always working on my fitness.
