5'2" Ladies who have gone from 140-115lbs

Here I was thinking I was in this boat alone.
I am 5' on the dot. Right now I weigh in at 143 but my goal is to get down to 115. I used to be around 120 and was happy at that weight, under-toned but happy.
So, my plan is to tone up and slim down!0 -
I have mine set to 2 lbs per week. The first 2 months that seemed about right. the last 30 days have been only 2-3 lbs. but i think i have adjusted to the life style and need to mix it up more again to get things going.0

Curious to know at what rate everyone has chosen to lose their weight. I have it set for a half pound per week, which is the most conservative option. I wonder if that makes a difference in how quickly we actually progress.
1) If you don't have much fat to lose, a large deficit is a recipe for losing muscle mass. An adequate protein intake and strength training can help with that.
2) Adherence. It's a matter of personal preference. I prefer a slight deficit so I don't even feel like I'm dieting and I have plenty of energy, but some people are discouraged by slow progress and prefer to lose weight a bit faster. Anyway, if you're already at a healthy BMI and you want to get leaner, a 0.5-1lb/week loss is ideal.0 -
I am 5'2" aiming for 120. 115 would probably be great too. I have been stuck at 134-139 for the past 2 years on mfp. I guess I've just been eating maintenance calories all this time (around 1800). I think because my exercise calories are way too high. I am now aiming for a 1400 (gross). I recently started lifting weights and am hoping that will help me achieve my goal of a smoking hot body. I am really discouraged this morning though since my jeans are too tight!0

wow that is great! What types of excercise do you do? I am also 5'3" and at 191.2. Want to be down around 128.0
-
I am 5'3' and I went from 194 to 108 in the last 18 months. Started out by eliminating sugar from my diet then I found MFP about a year ago and I started tracking my food and calorie intake. Been on a maintenance plan for the last few months. It can be done but I find maintenance so much harder than dieting.
That is great..what types of excercise did you do to get there?0 -
I'm close to this story, so I'll chime in. I'm 5'3" and I started at 137lbs. My first goal was 118 and then my ultimate goal became 105. It took me just over 10 weeks to get to 118 and it ultimately took 21 weeks for me to get to 105lbs (a loss of 32lbs). I did this by jogging 5k and doing a few minutes of strength/core training 5 days a week as well as netting 1200 cals a day.
I'm currently in maintenance mode (and have been since 2/10, so over 16 weeks). I weigh 102 at the moment and I net 1460 cals a day. I'm still jogging 5k/training 5 days a week. And, yes, by 'net' I mean I eat my exercise calories back on top of the 1460/day. Hope that helps! Keep up the good work and you'll get there OP!0 -
I am 5'1 and my starting weight 8/1/09 was 143lbs. My goal weight was 118lbs and I reached it in 12 weeks. Cardio 7 days a week, weight training 4 days a week and a 1,000 calorie deficit per day!
Ok ive been reading alot about calorie deficits.... How do I do this? I have no idea how many calories I was eating prior to 2 weeks ago to be honest. So based on that information how does one calculate a deficit? Working out more?
scooby
or look up "TDEE" on google and do the calculator and calculate your deficit from there according to the guidelines.0 -
I'm not quite at 115 (119 currently) and I started at 137, but I am 5'2! I ate around 1400 for most of it and lost steadily when combined with bodyweight training and a lot of walking. At my current weight, I'm finding it a lot harder to lose so I've dropped my calories to around 1280. I can't say if it's working or not by the scale, I'll check again at the end of this month. My upper half is definitely getting smaller, though.0

5'2".. I went from 180 to 124.. Kinda bouncing between 123-128 atm. Been maintaining for a little over 2 years now.
Ii did Cardio 2-4 days a week and been doing weights 1-3 times a week. Only 30 mins cardio (it's BORING)
Mostly it was my diet.. less empty carbs, more veggies, protein, and fruits.
I've cut NOTHING from my diet.
Want ice cream.. go get ice cream. Want half a pizza.. got half a pizza. Not all in the same day, but like a treat every 4-5 days... FATurday is my holiday:laugh:
Every time I restricted, I just wanted the bad food more.
But today is National Doughnut Day.. so I'm getting on that train when I get Dunkin in like 20 mins :happy:0 -
amazing! This is where I am trying to get to...0

bump to read later
This is totally me...5'2, started at 140, currently at 130 and at a bit of a stand still.0 -
EDIT:
Realized this is an old post I have already responded too *head desk*0 -
I am 5'2" and weight about 148. My goal weight is 135. I am a more muscular female (according to my doctors... who all say my weight is fine), but I don't feel fine in my clothes or a bathing suit. I am starting the Body Revolution on Monday, and am excited about my weight loss journey. I got to about 138 about a year ago, and looked/felt amazing! I know this was started a long time ago, but thanks for starting it. Short people have a harder time losing weight, I think. Good to know that it didn't take to long for some people.0
-
In for the responses! I'm bouncing around 139 lbs right now after (reluctantly) maintaining 130 lbs for over a year. Last summer I actually got all the way down to 122 lbs by doing Insanity and Chalean Extreme at the same time. Once I got there I got so excited that I celebrated. One thing led to another and here I am. Bleh.
Anyway, time to do this for real now! PS once you get to your goal weight, research how to maintain, because as you can see it's easy to do a **** job at it (if you're me at least).
Feel free to send me a friend request. (: :flowerforyou:0 -
I am 5'1
SW-191,
Current Weight-138
GW-120 or so
I think my fear is, is that I will get too thin. To get all my water in daily is easiest if I make them into protein shakes...its a win win situation. By having 3-4 18oz protein shakes and one solid meal a day with, 3 days of zumba works for taking the weight off for me.0 -
I'm 61". When I was in my twenties I lost about 15 lbs, down to 105. I haven't weighed less than 120 in the past 20 years. My goal is 105. I know I can do it and I need to for my joints.
I started this journey at 158, my highest ever. I suffered a set back with joint disease this year and between not working and wheelchair bound my weight exploded.0 -

This is all wonderful info, as I myself am 5'2 and am currently at 143 lbs. Mystarting weight was 165 lbs back in January. My ultimate goal weight is 115 lbs, but I guess we shall see the closer I get and better I feel about myself.0

Similar story here! I am 5'3", and from January 2012-July 2012 (wedding!) I went from 143 to 126, which was a size 6/8 to a 2/4, for me. The biggest thing for me was weight training, combined with HIIT. Check out New Rules of Lifting for Women. I did not follow their diet plan (or their somewhat anti-cardio spin, as I do love to run!), but the weight program is great and easy to follow. I'm back up to 134, but at this point I'm just trying to firm back up. Cardio only did NOT work for me! I trained for a half marathon in 2011 and hit my highest weight on race day!0

Back in 2010 I was around 140-145 and when my husband deployed overseas I counted my calories(1200-1500 a day.) In the 7 months I went down to 118. I didn't work out at all. Keep in mind I was skinny but had no muscle tone lol. Now i'm trying to lose weight again after giving birth and i'm currently down to 132. Ive been doing 30DS and counting calories and i'm seeing a big difference overall since starting level 3.0

I am 5'2" I started at 143 in Dec of 2012. I ate less and moved more. In August of 2013 I was down to 113. I maintained at 115 briefly until things shook up at work and I got a new boss in March 2014. I gained a quick 10 pounds stress eating and maxed out at 125. I am now at 120 trying to keep my stress eating under control to get back to 115.
I feel good at 115. That is my long term maintenance weight.0 -
I am 5'2" and 3/4 [not quite 5'3"]. My starting weight last September 2013 was 155. I am now hovering around 115. I was at 140 by November, 130 by New Year's, and 115 by April 2014. Relatively slow and steady from 140 to 115 over 6 months.
I recently shared some thoughts on my journey here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1313459-success-beyond-the-scale-my-journey-to-health-wellbeing0 -

this is great! in the past two years i have bounced around from 143 at the highest, to 124 at the lowest (that initially took 10 weeks). i was 118 in highschool and felt great. i am currently hovering around 130 (took four weeks to get from 140-133). I would love to support any of you if you'd like to add me!0

I'm 5'2 and about 140 pounds and I'm trying to do this right now so in on this.
I've made that jump in the past and it took me 3.5ish months, which was too fast, really. Left my metabolism very slow and if I'd gone slower, I think my body fat percentage would have been lower by the end. I ate around 1200 calories, kept my protein high and did a combination of cardio and weight lifting 3-4 times a week.
140ish, oops, awkward posing
115ish.
Well done all :flowerforyou:. 115 is my happy weight too.0 -
i am 5.2 ft and i started at 142 and i am not 117.6 i got as low as 116.4 but that was in dec and i have struggled to get under 188 until this am.. not sure if it is sticking around,lol.... it took me a year to lose 20 lbs, it was a very slow process but so worth it in the end! i started at 1200 cals and now i eat 1370 plus any exercise cals...
Thanks for posting this. I've been at this religiously for 8 months and only lost 10lbs. I'll be thrilled if I can ever get to -20lbs. I'm 5'4, 140 and aiming for 120.0 -
YAY! ok so I just went out and bought the fitbit! Im very excited about this, anyone have suggestions or helpful hints?
-Also how does it know when your sleeping?
Tap on the battery continually until it vibrates, then it will go in sleep mode. You will see two lights. Do the same thing to "wake it up".0 -
Well done everyone, you should all be very proud!0
