Not having to pour every single thought of my head and activities; also I like having days where I go out alone, binge on netflix, do nothing.

I have a list, but only because I've been single all my life! Never had a serious relationship (dates here and there, just nothing long-term).
Pros:
Being able to sleep like a starfish in my double bed!
Not having to tell anyone where I'm going or what I'm doing.
Can stay up late/get up early without having someone complain.
Can use up all the hot water in the shower if I want to!
If I want to live off just Ramen noodles for the week, I can (Not healthy obviously, but can't be arsed to cook).
Can hog the tv remote as much as I want!
Can sit in front of tv for long spurts (e.g. tv marathon) and not give a damn.
I can wizz with the door open!
Pass wind...and not care! I like not having to hold it in at home. (Yes, us women do pass wind)
Ummm... I am not single and I still "pass wind". Does anyone really ever hold it in at home??? Even if you are in a relationship? Sorry, that might have been too much information. :laugh:0 -
On vacation without an itinerary and just got stoopid lazy between the ocean and the couch for a few days, pure bliss... and no one to say a word to the contrary.0

Best parts about being single:
- Traveling alone to adventurous destinations (I could still do this, but now I'd rather take my husband with me)
- Talking to/meeting new people (used to do this more, but I think marriage made me less interested in meeting more people since my opening line usually needs to include "by the way, I'm married" if I'm talking to a guy)
- Wondering if I'd get married or stay single (something about the mystery there was always kind of fun)
- Not having the title of "wife" -- it just makes me feel old!
Best things about being married:
- Always having a buddy to push me to go to the gym, run or sign up for races, etc.
- If I do something really cool, I have someone there to witness it (likewise for when I do something really stupid...)
- Having the best backup alarm clock ever (for all the times I don't hear the three alarms I set on my iPhone, the backup alarm I set on my Blackberry, and the regular alarm clock)
- Never having to ask a friend to call me at specified times in case our date doesn't go well0 -
My married and in relationship friends are all stressed out about launching their careers and money. I have the freedom to work on my education in peace without feeling like somebody else is invested in it.0

The best things about being single.... Everything!
I can't think of one good reason to be married or even in a long term relationship. In my experience relationships (though they start out great), end up with anger, possessiveness, restrictions, and abuse.0 -
I really appreciated being able to eat whatever I wanted.
For some reason my ex and I had a difficult time figuring out what to eat for dinner, and it turned into bickering often.0 -

Any you couldn't do this when you were married why?!? Maybe that's why you are divorced0 -

5. Saving Money
She’ll max out your credit card for insignificant things like her dog’s manicure, eyelash lengthening and buying the entire department store in a single visit. Not to be sexist, but the only task women perform with perfection is spending money!
Truth.
When my ex left me I thought I'd be in trouble. She mad half the money and I was scared I wouldn't be able to afford my house payment. To my surprise I was actually able to save money every month and even buy myself things for a change. That's when I finally realized all the non-sense she bought was bleeding us dry. I recall one of her worst nonsense buys she spent close $200 on "tarts" over the course of a month. That is, small wickless candles that you melt to stink up the house. We had to have one of every type. It was very important for some reason.
^^ Exact same!
I was terrified of flying solo on one income... but now I can afford nice things like a new car and extravagant trips with less than half of my previous income!0 -

Ah...wonderful divorce! I just got one last month as well. Best part of being single? Rekindling the romance with self0 -
truth
And yes!! This too!0 -
I don't even know. Been separated for about a year and a half but never really took a minute to think anything good about. Probably will change once divorce is final which should be soon hopefully. I just hope I won't end up broke.0

It can be nice being in a couple, but dear lord I love having my bed all to myself and being able to make decisions about things like what to have for dinner, what movie to watch, what tv show to watch, how much money I spend, etc. without having to consult with another person first! It is awesome. Of course, I blame myself for choosing the wrong guys. Most of my past relationships have been pretty similar to raising a teenager even though most of them have been my same age or older.
^^ This so so this!
Also, I've noticed that all my men have spoken derogatory of my house cleaning, but when I'm solo it's a sparkling effing castle.
The trend?
I love only having to clean up after me because I don't make messes!
If the house is clean Monday morning, it will look almost identical Friday night less a load of clean laundry on the bed!0 -

The ability to pretty much do whatever I want and go wherever I want whoever I want : )
This pretty much sums it up.
So most single people have f buddies on their phone in which they can pretty much rely on at most times? I'm being genuinely honest/curious here.
This sounds like some bull ish
I'm going going to leave this here:

Independence.....servicing self.....!
Can you not service yourself in a relationship?
Probably not with the young, hairless boys in pink drawers that he likes.
Jesus dude.
I just laughed LOUD in the office. Dang!0 -

why were you not doing that as a couple?
I almost always roam my house in my skinny mini's and dun-dundah's.
If he's there are or not. granted- when he's there we get a lot less done.
You people as couples are weird- I'm pretty independent and value my long distance relationship.. means I don't have to shave regularly- I can stay at the gym till 10 PM on Friday night, I go to all my dance events with out judgement.
Long distance is awesome LOL.
What I miss- flirting at the bar. I do miss that.. something about it is hard to replicate.0 -
I guess I have it pretty good? I am married and my husband doesn't mind if I sleep in, he lets me do what I want and go where I want. He trusts me. He lets me have bad days and eat my junk food. There are days I dont shower (he as well), there are times I go without shaving for a little while, I go without doing the dishes for a couple days sometimes. He doesn't care what I spend my money on. I like to watch t.v. in the evenings in my bedroom so I can watch whatever my heart desires. HE cooks me dinner 90% of the time, he washes dishes, and helps pick up. He does make messes and I feel like I have a kid to clean up after sometimes. But I am thankful for him. I don't know how much better it really could get. I dont feel like being with him his holding me down at all. Maybe the ones that are single and happy are happy because they were not with the person they were meant to be with?
I always figure that people are secretly not that happy if they seek out others to rub it in their faces.
Yeah, she was on here earlier this week posting that she can't get pregnant because her hubby won't save up his allowance and she never spends money because she's saving for IVF but he spends too much money for them to save up for it.0 -
Being single is only awesome if you were in crappy relationships. In a good relationship you'll be able to do everything you did as a single person and more! There's nothing better than sharing those experiences with a significant other.0
