@erienne (ebailey)--it stinks that you still haven't gotten a definite "yes" on that promotion. I know shoes are expensive, but I would urge you to go buy new ones now. Don't wait for a little bit of soreness to turn into a serious injury.

Trust me, I would, but I honestly only have $15 until Friday. Hubs had to give me some money for gas and lunch for a conference tomorrow.

Skinny- I am training for the run but I need to develop a better plan. i usually do 2-3 runs a week a couple of short ones 1-2 miles then a long run. I need to increase the distance. I have been walking more so that should help as well. I think the water stop at the 1.5 mile mark is normal for a 5K. I will be upping the runs while working on increasing my speed at the same time. Now, I am trying to figure out how to balance the cardio with the strength/weight training that I have been neglecting lately. Your mileage was changed, good job on the walk.

Welcome to all the new members, you will find a very supportive group of people on this thread.

Don't forget to update your miles for the challenge. We are heading into the last 3 days of July. I believe that we will achieve our goals.

I spent most of my day traveling to visit a cousin. The trip took longer than expected because traffic was slow on the bay bridge due to road work. So I did not get to go for a walk while visiting. Then my brother and I ended up going out again so he could pick up some baby supplies. It was literally arrive, go back out, come back, eat lunch/ dinner (early around 2pm) leave to return home. Luckily the trip home was faster than the trip down. Then I had a great session with my trainer with plenty of strength and weight training plus did 14 miles on the spin bike. I had to much excess energy to just go home after a 1 hour session.

I am getting use to being more active, now the challenge will be to find ways to keep it up after the school year starts. It is ending to soon- I wish the back to school commercials would stop for a few more days.

Mileage for 7/28: 4.7 miles (2 water aerobics, 2.7 walking). Its really hot here again. We didn't get much of a break.
GrammyWhammy, welcome back. We will both benefit from the August challenge.
I'm so pleased to see so many folks checking in. Please keep coming back. There's lots of help and encouragement here.
I got the credit card cancelled and a new one ordered. Glad that is done. Only 3 days until the washer is fixed.
    Onward and downward. Kaye

@laurie--yes, the route map for T2T says there is a water station right after we come through the tunnel, but it's hard to tell if that's the halfway point. I guess it doesn't matter that much. Also, I've been doing some research and it looks like the packet pick up on Saturday is at the Conrad Hilton less than a mile from our hotel from 10-5, so we can certainly swing by to get those Saturday rather than waiting for the morning of the race. Also, the race provides transportation to the start line via water taxis that also look like they are in walking distance from our hotel. Yay!

    @marsha (grammywhammy)--Yay!! :drinker:

@erienne (ebailey)--that stinks that you can't get shoes yet. :ohwell:

I’m sorry I was MIA over the weekend, I had a lot on my plate and had to go out of town—so lots of driving, and then I was off yesterday to take care of some things.

@tunetut~There is lots of advice online to help you create a path for yourself in terms of eating healthy, but mostly you need to find what works for you—unfortunately its though trial and error. Most of all you don’t want to starve yourself of deprive yourself of foods that you enjoy; doing so will derail you quicker than you started. Nutritionists can be expensive ($150/hr on average) but sometimes is worth it. You might look into reading books by either Bob Harper or Chris Powell, both have very successful diet plans—I’ve read books by both and developed my own plan. I do not go by MFP guidelines for macros—it’s too high in carbs and sounds like you may be sensitive to carbs. I would suggest taking your carbs down to around 40% with 30% protein and 30% fat—definitely watch your sodium intake as well, that will help with all the conditions you’ve described. You will receive lots of feedback here, so just ask questions. Feel free to friend me or PM me if you have any questions.

@Karen (skinnyjeanz)~What a great way to reword the journal questions for your students next year, bet they think twice about the sources they use (at least I hope so).

@Marsha (grammywhammy)~Glad to see you back!

@Kaye~Yikes, how frustrating about the credit card fraud—glad the bank caught it.

AFM~Busy weekend but saw my trainer on Sunday and made it to the gym yesterday for a two mile run and some additional weights for hamstrings/quads. I’m signed up for a 5k in November with a bunch of people from work (and my trainer), so preparing for that. I’m behind in mileage, due to time constrictions probably won’t make my goal. Had a weird night last night--woke up at 3am hot (typical) with a song in my head, no idea why. Of course, when Zoe realized I was awake she decided she needed to curl up and purr in my ear until my phone went off at 5.

    Good morning all.

    Happy International Friendship Day
July 30 is International Friendship Day, time to recognise your friends and their contribution to your life. Friendship helps to bring peace and positivity to the globe - a great reason to celebrate!
Friendship Day occours only once a year - so make the most of it! :) Friends come in many shapes, sizes and guises: school friends, work colleagues, siblings, partners, parents, pets and neighbours. Pull out all the stops and let your friends know they are truly appreciated!
International Friendship Day was traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday of August each year. However, in 2011 the United Nations declared July 30 to be the new International Day of Friendship. The Friendship Page strongly supports this great United Nations initiative honouring friendship and peace. So let's celebrate!

“You can’t cross a sea merely by standing and staring at the water.” ~Rabindranath Tagore

Just checking in. I had a moment on Saturday where I stepped on the scale and cried. I saw a 2-3 lb gain. It was shocking. Then I was horrified with such a big gain considering my doctors told me to gain 15-20 lbs. 2-3 lbs is a big number when I still have 2 more trimesters to go through. I didn't weigh on Sunday because I was devastated. Monday I check in and noticed I was back to my normal weight. I am assuming it was just some lovely extra bloat and so happy I am still back on track for the 15-20 lb gain. I just entered week 13 yesterday, 2nd trimester is here. (technically another day or two) I am expecting to have a huge jump this trimester as the baby gets much bigger. I have to say, I am in love and obsessed with my pregnancy apps. I have a bunch loaded on my phone. Every week they tell me how big the baby is and what is going on in terms of development. It actually is quite fascinating. This week the baby is the size of a lemon, the organs are no longer in the umbilical cord, vocal cords and teeth are beginning to form, baby can open and close fists and mouth, nails are beginning to develop. 26 weeks and 6 days left!

Lives - I am so sorry. I dream for the day I go down in a bra size so I can see my feet again. It's been so long since I have been able to see them when I look down. Now with Babycakes on the way I am doubtful I will ever see them again. I cannot wait until February so I can get back on the weight loss train. I miss it.

Robin (Ellen) - Awe thanks. I am failing to see how so many women have that pregnancy glow and say they loved being pregnant, it was the best time of their life. No glow for me, just acne. Thanks hormones! I will spare you the rest of the details. My newest symptom is itchy skin and I can feel my abdominal muscles stretching (round ligament pain - :ohwell: ). It feels like I did a ton of crunches and hurts if I move the wrong way. Sadly, I didn't. I have a follow up appointment tomorrow morning with the next doctor in my practice. I am assuming she will review the results of my blood tests. I had the glucose test done for gestational diabetes. I am going to go out on a limb and assume it came back fine or else I would have heard from them instructing me to do additional testing by now.
I love the idea of using the screen name as well as their real name. I still get confused from time to time with some names. LOL

Skinny (Karen) - Yes, we are definitely finding out. Due to my age I had the Maternit21 test done (tests for Downs). It is a newer test and is so much safer for you and the baby than other tests such as the amino. It is a blood test and they look at the chromosomes. They are able to determine the gender a lot sooner than the anatomy scan (18-20 weeks). We decided we will find out sooner from the test but not share the news with everyone until the anatomy scan.

April - One thing I found was helpful was to take body measurements along with pictures once a month. You would be surprised but even though your weight may stay the same your body is changing and getting smaller. Maybe that would be something that works for you so you don't get so stressed out over what the number says on the scale.

Kah (Kelley)- Congrats on the loss! That is fantastic.
My doctor actually called the baby a peanut last month. She said the baby was approximately the size of one. Then went on to clarify just a single peanut without the shell. LOL

jtconst - I am glad I am not the only one who doesn't know everyone's name!

Wildwest - Why don't you feel like you are doing a very good job? Looking at your numbers, 7 lbs is fantastic! I think you are being too hard on yourself. Try to remember weight loss is a long process. It doesn't come easy. You will have to work at it. There will be times you don't feel successful. But most importantly, never give up. Take the good with the bad and stick with it. You CAN do this!

aimeemarie - I love your list. Congrats on getting to 187. You still always amaze me. Thanks for being an inspiration. You left me in the dust. LOL

Pamella - I live in NY too. LI though.

Skinny and Laurie - Obviously I won't be participating in the T2T. Sorry to bail. If I am feeling up to it that weekend I would like to come and cheer you on!

Wow there are a lot of new faces popping in! Welcome to you all. Jump right in and join us. Feel free to post as much or as little as you like. You will certainly get a lot of great advice here and make a few friends. Welcome again!

    Hi!
I am new to MFP and this is my first post here. I was tracking with another site but I really didn't seem to be finding the support I needed from that community so I thought I might try here. I have lost weight before but I am down to the weight where I always got stuck before and gave up. I am hoping to find some friends who are in a similar situation with lots left to lose.

    Lost sheep reporting in.

Took a deep breath and got on the scale so I could reset my weight and begin again. :embarassed: The truth hurts.

Long ago I promised to take a friend to the Cheesecake Factory for her birthday lunch tomorrow (which happens to be on Nat'l Cheesecake Day!). Planning now how to handle this. Order from the Skinnylicious menu and only eat half a slice. No bread on table. Only drink water. Going to research the lowest calorie slice now. I think I may need to pray first...and not eat breakfast.

I have an MFP buddy and her encouragement is helping a lot.

Halfway through the day and hanging in there. I will check in later.

Thanks for the welcome back, all.

Doing a quick check in. Yesterday was an insane day at work, got here at 7 and left at 6. Had a working lunch - I have made it a point to pack my food for the day so I'm not tempted to go downstairs to the deli. Today has been another busy day. Hopefully it'll slow down.
