We got hit hard by the snow last night, here in South Bend, Indiana we got 23 inches! I helped my husband's younger brother shovel snow and in 90 minutes burned 744 calories!! Could not believe it, so I retyped it and sure enough 744! Talk about getting a workout, I should help them shovel more often. Just wanted to share that.....
Got my work out in for today just from shoveling the snow....0 -

LOL That's why I mow the lawn in the summer......the burn is phenomenal0 -
Living with my inlaws, they don't normally ask us to help out with mowing the lawn or shoveling, but the f.i.l. got the car stuck in the drive way, so we needed to bail him out and he was pretty ticked off when we stumbled into the house after getting the car stuck, so like I said, looks like there was no other need to exercise today, got that unexpected workout this morning, lol.0

Wow, what happened to everyone? What happened to our weekly challenges? Hope everyone is doing ok.
I just bought Jillian Michael's 30 day shred, lose up to 20 lbs in 30 days!! Been hearing great things about it, but a little nervous...lol, wish me luck!0 -
Been a busy week for me.....hoping for a loss this week on Friday - I post my results to my non-MFPers every two weeks on Friday....YIKES, that's this Friday so I'm nervous....need to show my family a loss again.0
-
I totally forgot about this week's challenges! :ohwell:
Worked Sunday, came home and crashed! So Sorry!
I'll make up for it this week! :flowerforyou:
Hope you all are having a great week!0 -
Did Day 1 of Jillian's 30 day shred, feeling great, a little worn out and can tell I'm out of shape....then my MIL was getting ready to go out and shovel snow (she should not be!) bc the FIL complained about the driveway, so I helped shoveled the driveway after doing the 30 day shred, and boy, am I ready for a nap!!!0

You're forgiven! It's not like I jumped right on it either. I've just been so exhausted lately, and I can't figure out why. Grumpy and overwhelmed... I'm so ready for my vacation!:grumble: Hubby goes for more blood tests on the 24th, and if he's back to normal, I'm taking 3 weeks off!0 -
Happy FRIDAY!!!!! Weigh in day
2011 SW: 241.8
Week 1 EW: 236.1 ( - 5.7lbs)
Week 2 EW: 236.6 ( +0.5lbs)
Tough week for me this week weightwise, but it was TOM so I won't feel too bad. I realized earlier this week that a) I'm almost at my halfway mark of 60lbs lost (just over 5lbs to go) and b) if I don't get pregnant this year - which is the plan, it's possible for me to get to my goal weight in 2011. That boggled my mind. The fact that I'm no longer the biggest person in my family, the fact that I no longer weight what my husband weighs....all of that boggles my mind.
I'm starting 2011 fresh because although I need to celebrate my achievements, I tend to rely on them to get me through in sticky spots....enough is enough. I'm not feeling sick anymore, I have the weekend off with my hubbie. Going to get outside (if it's not too cold) and take the dogs for a hike and feel positive about the future!0 -
Pam, you're doing GREAT! I'm so happy for you! Almost halfway is a great feeling, I'm sure.
As for me, I didn't lose weight this week, but I didn't gain weight either. I guess that's a win.0 -
Wow! Just completed day 2 of Jillian's 30 day shred....a little tired from the lack of sleep, otherwise I'm feeling great!!! Now I'm just gonna sit back and wait for hubby to call me, so I can go pick him up.
Weigh-in day, can't wait to check the numbers out0 -
I forgot to post my results, I lost 2. 4 lbs this week!! Woo hoo!! I like that number! WTG to everyone on their weight losses......I'm ready for next week!0

I'm excited too! I've been wanting to check out the Zumba, but was a little nervous about it! Thanks0 -
Just did the first Zumba video. It was fun, and I was actually disappointed when it was over. I really hate Shakira though, so that part was a bummer for me. I'll keep doing it all week and see what I think.0

I don't know what I would have done if I knew it was Zumba for weekly challenges. I love it and wonder if any are ones I have used before. I had an exam today and have been studying. Also I got a free week pass at Curves to try it. So I have been caught up in that and my regular aquafit. I seem to be able to fit in more exercise with this quarter schedule. We set up my old stationary bike in a basement room and I use that if I can't fit anything else into my schedule. I think I will get caught up with the Zumba challenges tomorrow. I don't have any classes during the day on T, Th. I lost a pound last week after not losing during the holidays but I didn't gain. Congrats on all your success last week.
My feeling on Curves is that for now it would be good for me but it is too much for what you get. I pay the same amount for my gym and get a pool, classes, cardio and weight machines. Not to mention a locker room, sauna and hot tub. I really don't know how to use the weight machines that well hence my interest in Curves. After awhile I think it would not be enough of a challenge for me though.
I have finally started to drink more water up until today with the exam. So guess what I am doing now.0 -
I had the same experience with Curves. My MIL was down for the holidays and was happy to take me as her guest. I was pretty shocked when I saw the monthly charges. We have a 24 hour gym in town that is almost half the cost (it doesn't have the pool, but it's a pretty small place and there's always someone around to help you learn a machine. There's also no contract - it's month to month. Curves does work for my MIL though - she's late 50s, disabled (fibromyalgia) and has never done "exercise" in her life. I think she's exactly what Curves needs to cater too. She has a set routine within the centre - so even when she travels outside of her own town it's the same set up. They give you almost 1:1 attention, which she needs. Good for some, not for me. I'm more happy to do activities that get me moving (hiking, biking, swimming) than sitting on the machines.....although I might get to that point sometime.
Tonight is Aquafit for me!!! Yippee skippy - it's Tae Kwon Aqua......0 -
TAe Kwon Aqua! love it!0
-
Went out and bought a new suit - it's a tankini and skirt. The bottom is a 3x (I found the 2x fit, but sat right at one of my rolls and so was not flattering in the least) and the top is 2x. I know now these won't last through the summer, but I figure with 2 pieces, I should be able to switch them up as I need them instead of having to get a whole new suit.......
Tae Kwon Aqua - here I come!!!0 -

There will definitely be a better weigh in next week. I'm determined to see 2 lbs lost on the scale. I think part of my problem is mental again. As a teen, my heaviest (and longest held weight) was in the high 220s so I'm thinking my brain is thinking I'm almost at normal, when I'm actually far from it......changing the brain is harder than changing the body.
Tae Kwon Aqua was good last night - more jumping than in the normal class. I'm happy though. I'm not sore today and I didn't hurt last night....means I'm stronger. Today my team at work is going to an all you can eat Chinese buffet so I'm hoping to do well - planning on one salad plate, one main plate and one dessert plate of mostly fruit. Wish me luck0 -
Weigh in day!!! I'm DEFINITELY walking on sunshine today!!!! I hit the 50-lb mark!!!! YAY ME! Now, my mom has to quit smoking, and my hubby is taking me out for a hockey game and date night this weekend!!!!0

Awesome - I love that you're using your losses to inspire others to improve their lives too.....Enjoy the game!!! I'm guessing it's the Penguins?0 -
No, not the Penguins...lol. I don't live in PA... I am in Rockford IL. I've just loved the Steelers since I was four years old. We'll be going to an Ice Hogs game... they are the farm team for the Chicago Blackhawks.
I'm actually feeling pretty lousy today. Tonight is supposed to be date night, but I don't even know if I want to go. I told myself that when I hit the 50 lb mark, I'd go out and buy myself some jeans. Well, I went, and NOTHING FIT!!! The size 20's I'm wearing now are practically falling off me, but I tried on FIVE different pairs of size 18's and NONE of them fit. I found one pair that fit me in the hips and belly, but they were too short ( I have extremely long legs and have to buy longs or talls, and this kind only came in average). I told the lady at the fitting rooms that I guess fat girls aren't allowed to have long legs.
I actually cried on the way home from the store, and I'm still in a funk. I am angry, and feeling worthless. I have a overwhelming urge to just bury myself in ice cream and then go to bed. Shopping used to be fun... now it just makes me feel like crap.:sad:0 -
Awwww - I know how you feel......jeans are one of those things that should fit perfectly....the designers are all spacey - not really designing for bigger girls - just keep extrapoltaing out their measurements......Frustrating. I find that the stretch jeans are good for that - you get the length you need and the waist can get bigger, if you need it to. I bought a pair on non stretch jeans and found I could only wear them 2 weeks out of the month - and they were never comfortable. My stretch jeans are always perfect.0
