I totally agree! I want to add something here also, you are on MFP to lose weight not to go eat ice cream cakes with your toddler. Those people at work did you a favor by not bringing up your birthday. This way a big lunch and the obligatory cake are not in the picture. Find the positives in life and you will win all you set out to do!

I've bent over backwards to make the 30th birthday of several of my friends amazing. I got stupid phone calls for my birthday. Seriously? A phone call? Bump that. I want money and expensive tequila. I love birthdays and I am so sad all of my coworkers now would rather forget they are a year older than celebrating at work.0

I didn't get a card from my dad this year, and I'm his only living biological child... but he gets a free pass because he's dealing with his wife's serious health issues and I'd rather he forgot to send a card than forget a doctor's appointment or forget to give her her meds. I did get kind of a "hey... umm..." feeling at the empty mailbox, but no harm, no foul.
My boss stopped observing my birthday a couple years ago... and I'm his only employee. Last year he skipped Christmas too. But I think his wife found out.... in mid-February I suddenly got gift cards for both occasions. My birthday is in September. Whatevva.

Try having a birthday 2 days before Christmas! No one ever remembers my birthday (except my awesome hubby). I get a call on Christmas Eve from my mom wishing me a late birthday and early Christmas. Even when I was little, no birthday celebration for me, my friends were all on vacation/with family. But honestly after 21, it's just another day anyways, nothing special IMO.

Yeah. This. My birthday is within a week of the holiday, when a lot of Christmas parties are going. I've learned to celebrate on my own time, although my husband always remembers as well as my closest gal pals. My parents have forgotten it from time to time as have my brothers.

Same sentiments here in regard to workplace birthday parties. I was in a department that used to do the celebrate everyone's birthday. Seems every week, we had cake and crap at odd hours, or for lunch, and had to donate cash for someone's card & gift.
I didn't want card, cake, party, congrats, and was willing to spare everyone the pain of collecting cash, etc. So I had my name off the list for a long time until someone somehow found out the date and then I was included in the cycle. Fortunately, later I changed jobs into an area that either never had or lost the tradition of doing this.
Now family forgetting is a different thing altogether! That doesn't seem too nice, unless you aren't on speaking terms.0 -

Or the day after Christmas for that matter. I guess I don't really care about birthdays because they were never a big deal for me when I was growing up, kinda a let down after Christmas. The worst part was getting all my presents in two day and then 363 (364 on leap year) days with nothing.
My wife works at a small company of 40-45 people. She is on the Sunshine Committee and has to do bday cake once a month for all the people who have bdays that month. Last month the person with a bday is gluten free so she did ice cream sundaes instead and a couple people actually complained about not having cake. uuuggghhh.0 -
My birthday was on the 8th, if it wasn't for fb I wouldnt have even remembered it was my birthday thats how much fan fare was given for it. I got my usual sweet text from my mom but thats it. My cousin is pretty much my best friend, forgot and we talked that morning. She had to text me later in the afternoon because she forgot lol! Oh well, I take it as a sign of getting old.
