I want an *kitten*!

In my opinion, lunges are more effective than squats in targeting the butt. Grab a pair of moderately heavy dumbbells (for you) and do walking lunges.
a big *kitten* is the sexiest body part in a woman imo0 -
Never mind, I thought you meant Husband.0

I do a combo of bridging, lunges and hip extensions. I saw real results with those (3-4x a week) as opposed to squats.0

Squats.

I am a complete *kitten*. Will I do? Sorry just in a silly mood this morning.
This is priceless! LOL!0 -
Why on earth would you want a big *kitten*???
Right??! People with naturally big *kitten* say they HATE IT. I don't get this obsession with big booties. When I was a teen big booties were "nasty" and too much to most people. Now everybody wants a big booty. I don't get it.
I've NEVER met a woman with a big butt who said they hate it. lol. Not one. Woman have desired curves since forever so this isn't a new "trend" you perceive it to be. Growing up, most girls wanted an ample, round butt and they still do today. Nothing has changed. It's always been a coveted feature for millions around the world and that isn't going to change. But different cultures have different beauty standards. It's clear that a size 0 thin body is the eurocentric beauty standard for the desired body (magazines, runways, tv actresses etc..). I can only speak from a black/hispanic beauty standard and big booties have always been our standard. Nothing nasty about either one though. Thin or thick, both are beautiful, as long as the woman takes care of herself.
You can have some of mine!!!
My views have changed on this subject. I used to HATE HATE HATE it. I thought it drew the wrong kind of attention. I was embarrassed. But now it is what it is. It could be smaller but.......It's "DAMN" status  I'd rather be admired for it I guess. When I was a teen big booties were "nasty" and too much to most people.
Same here though...my cousin and I got made fun of. ::shrug::0 -
here you go! here's an *kitten* :flowerforyou:

^^Um, I can add to this surplus.  :laugh:0 -

LOL no way. I have more than enough! I'm trying to give some of mine away as well. haha. You would have been celebrated rather than made fun of for that if you grew up in a different place. But I can relate, when I first got hips and a butt in grade school I was sooo embarrassed too! I would wear a sweater around my waist because as you said it drew the wrong kind of attention. I was still playing with barbies, so it's safe to say I wasn't ready for all that! lol.0 -

LOL  Yes way! My cousin's used to be bigger than mine when we were little. All of a sudden college hit and I've surpassed her by leaps and bounds lol!! I agree I would have been celebrated otherwise. It was kind of a joke but it really hurt me at the time and made me hate it. Not until recently have I been like "Waitwut? It's a good thing? My family has been wrong my entire life??? ARE YOU SURE?" Now I'm like...

I didn't read the entire thread (I'm on a study break and don't have time), so someone may have mentioned this already. Check out www.brettcontreras.com . He's the "butt guy" and can help you do it right.0

mines smaller... about 160#... lol0 -
l second the squats and deadlifts....!0

Same for me. Except I do a lot of squats still vs lunges. Bridges and hip extensions all the way. :drinker:0 -

Why on earth not?
Nothing wrong with a flat but I guess. Not a huge fan of the long, fat butt though.0 -
I have a flat butt...and I hate it. Does bulking and working the gluteus muscles build a bigger butt? AND When you bulk...how many calories OVER TDEE does one aim for?
You don't necessarly need a bulk to achieve a more sculpted behind. Compound exercises like Squats and deadlifts are great. Also, Hip thrusters, glute bridge, walking lunges......
Check out Bret Contreras for more info...

I followed Bret's workout suggestions and I really like my butt now. It took about a year to really notice a major difference. Lots of lifting and nice roundness that was not there before. Squats (with bar), deadlifts, hip thrusts, walking lunges, step ups and some plyos.0 -

Humm, I think I would try squats with weights, than add lil.cardio in there and refrain from pop, sweets, fast food and also alcohol.0

Squats and deadlifts.
Absolutely this!! I looked like an ironing board in jeans until I changed my workout programme (not diet apart from ensuring I eat enough protein).0 -
When I was a teenager, having a big butt was a disgrace ( of course I had a big butt). I was a constant butt of the joke ( no pun intended). I was chastised by my mother and teased relentlessly by my brothers and other family members. Thus started my issues with self body image. NOW, having a big butt is in style and people actually pay to put implants in their cheeks. - crazy ridiculous. Personally, unless you are beautifully proportioned, having a big butt should not be a priority- it's just a bunch of extra flesh to have to find clothes that fit properly for. Big butts, big boobs, big lips, big hips...all in style, but we want to be thinner. Can we say Barbie? Or KK? LOL0

LUNGE, And do More LUNGES and more Lunges, if you want an *kitten* fast, lunge three days a week and squat one and deadliift another... you'll see an *kitten* in 3 months0
-
This always comes up. You can firm it, make it appear higher but the main configuration of the *kitten* won't get bigger, rounder or more shelf-like.
Like my small t*ts. I can strengthen the muscles under my chest, make it seem higher but I can't make them bigger without implants.
It's mostly genetics. But do the exercises, you may as well strenthen what you have. I think you have to do a lot!!!0 -
Well, since this thread has been re-hashed, I will update!
I continued to do donkey kicks, but found even with ankle weights it to become too easy. I found a machine at my gym "Glute Isolator", essentially allows me to do donkey kicks with MUCH more weight added. When I started, I could hardly do 10lbs. I am now up to 50-60lbs and my *kitten* is looking a lot more attractive!
I also have started doing squats (just with a kettle bell/dumb bell) and from the newer posts, I will try to do more lunges (which I would prefer over squats).0 -
Wow! Great dedication and progress!!0
-
Squats--lots of them!0
-
Yes and no. Genetics will determine where the fat goes when bulking; however, heavy compound lifts like squats and deadlifts will help shape a bigger booty. Bulking is necessary to gain muscle mass.0
-
Exercise can have some effect on shape, but quite a lot depends on genetics. Thanks, Mom, for my really nice backside!0

Yes, overloading your butt muscles will definitely work to make it bigger. It did for me But one thing I quickly realized is if you do a lot of butt exercises that also target the legs, both your butt and legs will get bigger at the same time so there won't be any noticable difference between the two.
If you have a really flat butt, then you want to target just the gluteus maximus, and try to stop exercising your legs as often, because the problem may be that your thighs get overly big and take away from the apperance of your butt. That's what happened to me. And I Iiked having big thighs but I still wanted my butt to be a lot bigger in comparison. So I used to do lots of lunges and squats and that really pumped up my legs and butt, but afterwards I still wanted my butt to protrude out more, if you know what I mean.
Then I started doing the exercise where you lay on your back, with a heavy weight on your hips or pubic bone area. You do a hip thrust for about 30 seconds and clench your butt cheeks, then release. That will target only the gluteus maximus. I even notice my butt sticks out more after doing that once.
So, another thing if you have a flat butt is along with muscle, you also want to gain some more fat.
You might also notice those hip dents and butt dents, those are natural because they are just where the bone crease is, but you'll see them more if you don't have enough fat there. You'll see them if you have just muscle there (just take a look at muscular man butts) female and male butts are exactly the same it's just females tend to have more body fat. So if you really want a big, round butt, you have to gain fat, not just muscle.I have a flat butt...and I hate it. Does bulking and working the gluteus muscles build a bigger butt? AND When you bulk...how many calories OVER TDEE does one aim for?0 -
Im not a professional but um i got booty- go to the elliptical if you don't mind them and increase that puppies resistance to 17+ do that for 2 weeks and let us know..But i am not joking I got a full half circle of a good bottom i can't stop staring when i see my reflection in the mirror LOL Im sorry you gotta try it though. When I'm on the elliptical I go so slow but the sweat is literally falling off me…its embarrassing because I'm breathing so much and my sweat gets blown straight of my head and if theres people in the room-its embarrassing but its so worth it…i had fun sporting my bikinis this summer- i don't starve myself-i built muscle in my gluteus and i look/feel darn good about it too..I am taking notes on the dead lifts..i love my squats so i have to give the credit…doing squats with weights helps but for me its the elliptical and i focus very hard on what muscles are being used…i of course focus on the gluteus and get in bike ride position sometimes to make that focus happen and push myself..when i can't go anymore i wait till the song is over and break…and keep pushing till i can't then wait till the song is over and break…its gotta work for you if you try it…but any mode on the elliptical so as long you get your gluteus to be doing the work and you r resistance is high-so high your moving through mud mān0
