Congrats to you and your success with your health. I have been lucky enough to lose the weight without much issue. Even at my age of 41 it has been a wonderful journey. I have been told I don't look a day over 60! Great thing that age is only a number because I know I look and feel 30 years younger than that. Here's to our long wonderful lives of looking and feeling great.0

Wow! Way to go! I also have PCOS and am having trouble conceiving. next step is the Metformin but i have heard some not so great things about it. I remember a doctor of mine just told me i was too fat to have kids and go on a diet. Well I am on a diet now for my self and my health but have since got a new doctor!
Xena I have PCOS and have recently visited a fertility doctor. I'd say I'm about 15-20 lbs overweight. At no point during our visit did the doctor even mention my weight! I eat healthy and try to stay active. I'm not on Metformin because I'm not insulin resistant, but I've heard that it can have adverse effects on the fetus if you do become pregnant. I honestly recommend seeing a doctor that specializes in fertility. I'll be starting on clomid (to stimulate ovulation, which is one of the most common issues in PCOS) and they'll be making sure there's no blockage of the tubes or anything else. PCOS doesn't mean you can't conceive, it's just harder because of lack of ovulation most of the time. Don't let misinformed doctors make you feel helpless.0 -

Metformin is a Category B drug for Pregnancy, which means animal studies have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus, however, there are no adequate studies in pregnant women OR animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus. I took BOTH Metformin ER and Byetta from day one of my pregnancy until the day I delivered my daughter. Granted, I did a year's worth of research on BOTH drugs before we even considered pregnancy, and I weighed the benefits and risks (as Byetta is a Category C drug for Pregnancy- meaning you should use if the benefits outweigh the risks, and from what research I did, and everything I was able to gather, and see, I was on the lowest dosage possible, and the lab mice and rabbits were given almost 200X the maximum daily dosage to get any type of effect, and those were irregular skeletal ossifications in the fetus. So, I figured, I was a 299lbs woman, using the minimum daily dosage, and they were injecting something that wasn't remotely CLOSE to my body size, and injecting it with 200 times the maximum daily dosage to get a defect to show up.) With all of that said, I do encourage every woman to weigh the risk and benefits for herself, do research for herself, and work in tandem with her doctors/endocronologist/fertility specialist to decide what is best for her.
I knew that there was no way I would be able to go nine months and be healthy without my treatments, AND I wanted my child to be healthy. I knew if I could possibly avoid gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, or any other complications that women who have PCOS tend to face or have a higher risk of developing, I wanted to do my best to prevent it. Savannah was born, full term, at 38 1/2 weeks, with no ill-effects or defects, and I, for all intents and purposes (other than having PCOS) was not high risk. No gestational diabetes, no pre-eclampsia, or other pregnancy related complications. (It was the labor/delivery/aftermath that was unfortunately not so good.)
Jojo, I do wish you the best with the Clomid, I hope that it does the trick, and I fully agree with you-- don't ever let these doctors bully or tell any cyster, or anyone otherwise, that we can't have children because of size- too small or large. It's a matter of being in the best health you can be in. If your numbers look good, things are under control, there is NO reason why anyone wanting to start a family shouldn't be able to! Best wishes to all!0
