Can men and women maintain a platonic relationship?

My best friends are guys...women can be sneaky and back stabbers! Men FRIENDS keep it real!0

I have more guy friends who are true friends than women. In my experience, most women are nice at first then stab you in the back or are extremely catty towards each other. Guys are less drama. Women need to support one another instead of tearing each other down....I just don't understand it.0

I say it depends on the individuals. each person is different and acts and feels differently. i have male friends and my husband is fine with it as I'm fine with him having female friends. its all about respect and boundaries.0

Yes, support each other. Just like you did here.0 -

Yep, men are definitely all one good way and all women are the other terrible way.0 -
I mean there are good and bad in both sexes but as far as being "friends" men win!0

CaptSpatz: So just curious on what the general consensus is here. I strongly believe it can be done. I've done it on many occasions and feel a platonic relationship can exist between a man and woman.
Absolutely! With men, the friendships have an effortless ease about them and are always uncensored. Amongst women, one has to be measured.0 -
I feel like men don't understand what women deal with when being friends with OTHER women! It's a battlefield honestly. Men are friends with men and that is cool because they keep it honest.0

About 90% of my real life friends are males (since most of the people in my circles of interest are males). It has never been anything but platonic, except with one of them who is my ex. We split in peace and maintained our friendship for 11 years now, completely platonic.0

Couple of my best friends are men. But then I am basically a dude with boobs. My husband is totally cool with whoever I hang out with, because he trusts me. And vice versa. He can be friends with whoever he wants. Unless she's really hot, then I'm gonna kneecap her if she so much as looks at him.
Just kidding...0 -
I'll repeat myself. Yes and no.0

If you are a woman: yes
If you are a male: probably not0 -
my best friend is a man0

Of course they can, my best friend is female and I've lived with her for 6 years.0

I think it CAN be done, but probably easier when you're happily married to someone who isn't jealous.
I agree with this... I have a platonic friendship with my best friends husband, but my husband is the jealous type... The type that thinks that there is no such thing as being just friends with another guy without there being anything sexual.. and I mean every single one of my guy friends he thinks that about.. I have been friends with guys for years with nothing going on.. Especially during my go kart racing days... ALL of my friends were guys and nothing sexual going on at all.. but if the tables were turned and we were talking about him being friends with girls.. then that would be ok in his book... its a double standard..
Bwahahahaha0 -
I think so. I've had male friends who I had no attraction to- I can't say if they've been attracted to me, but I've had entirely platonic feelings for males. It depends on when you met, how you met, etc.0
-
Of course they can!0

I Believe it's possible and some of my friends are guys but the point is always one person have crush on one another that don't show ..0
-
I was reading an article the other day about this and nope its not possible. Maybe for a little while but eventually one of the two would want more.0

My first wife and I did for over a year.0

Yes, they can, at least for a while. But if there is any kind of sexual spark between them, even if just on one person's side, it can be very tough.0
-
It can be done if at least one person is not attracted to the other. If 1 person is attracted to the other, he/she will remain in the "friend zone" if the feelings aren't mutual.0

I'm friends with someone who has feelings for me at least I know but I don't feel bad he is like my bro and I told him that0
