Our first VD together we broke up, so we've spent the last 3 years trying to make up for it. Right after our first VD, we had a "make up valentine's day" and he took me to Jasper for the day. Turned out to be the most wonderful day! The drive was romantic, the waterfalls were still frozen but absolutely majestic, the mountains were snow covered and beautiful. It was just amazing. What do I want for VD? A little bit of romance. Some lovey dovey romance. I want him to write beautiful words in a card, I want him to hold my hand and tell me he's glad we're together. I want to feel special, not because I look after his kid, but for the woman that I am.

nothing! I hate that day because to me its just an over rated over advertised way for retail to make money---My husband and I show our love for each other ever day---why do we need to set one day aside and make a big deal out of it?

Same here. We've been together for 15 years and have NEVER specifically bought something for the other person that day. We do that all year round, so a day on the calendar telling us that we have to be good to each other is just redundant because we're always good to each other.

I must have a sick mind because I just had a mental image of all the women revving up our romance for each other (since most men don't really understand it) and and men just getting the overflow as in..reaping the benefit of our rapidly beating pink hearts and flushed faces so happily lit with the idea of spontaneous poetry inspired by the sheer beauty of love TWWWEEEEE.

I don't make the rules...I just enjoy them.

My husband and I don't celebrate VDay specifically. We say I love you to each other several times every day, we touch each other every time we pass by, we kiss each other good morning, welcome home (after work) and good night every day. I know how he feels about me, I don't need anything. As the song goes - "You say it best, when you say nothing at all"
