YEAH CASS!!! You go girl :drinker: :flowerforyou:

HEHE THANKS GIRL!! Nice job on your 2.6 pounds...ROOOOCKSTAR!!!!

Oh and guess what! HEHEHEHE!!! My hubby is FINALLY on board with losing weight! I love my husband, and he loves me very much!! I am saying that because we have both TOTALLY let ourselves go.

    Weight when we met:
    Cassidy 148lbs
    Shane 190lbs

    Weight 3.5 years later!
    Cassidy (highest) 193lbs----today!! 188lbs
    Shane....................................................257lbs!

He calls himself a "big fat guy"...and I know he is very self conscious. He wants to lose 16 pounds by Thanksgiving. I totally know he can do it if he just drinks more water and watches his portion sizes. So I think it will be easier for me to stick to the plan since he is going to be in it with me! He even wants to try some of my workout videos...he thinks Turbo Jam and Shred look fun!! LOL

I have the same issues with my daughters father... he is very uncomfortable at his weight, but uses comedy to hide it. He eats like double of everything at meals, and eats all the bad stuff and isnt active at ALL! I can barely get him to take the trash out! Ive tried to include him in my weight loss efforts but he wants NO part of it :frown:

Ive found one activity he likes- tennis- but only if he is in a good mood and feels like going outside. It makes me sad that I cant encourage him, he takes it as criticism. For example- the other evening I made a full meal and he ate 2 huge servings of everything..he then sat on the couch and watched tv for 2 hours, then got up and made him some chicken nuggets with wing sauce and cheese..I tried to put it nicely, but I asked him if he was already hungry again after a big dinner..He got mad that I asked that and tried to make me feel bad the next day by not eating anything but toast :noway: Its frustrating!
I want him to be here for our daughter for many many more years to come and with his habits now, I dont see that happening.. :frown:

I am SO happy that you have been able to encourage and support your husband with weight loss, COngrats and keep it up Cass! You are doing him, your children and yourself such a wonderful thing!!!! Good Luck and I hope he makes his goal :flowerforyou:

I have a question . . . I've been reading everyone's posts and seeing what they're eating, etc. I think I do pretty well with my food choices, bar today when I had some Hershey's Mini's @ work and am going to have clam chowder at lunch (it's 98% FF, and the cal's aren't too bad, so I guess it'll be alright), but . . . the calorie-counter on here says I should get around 1400 cal's per day and it seems like every other meal schedule I've read on here is soooo much less than that! Why is that? lol, I know I could easily eat 1000-1200 calories and be alright, but, should I?

MFP set my calories at 1200, because unless I'm at the gym, I'm not super active. I almost always hit it, although I do sometimes find it hard to eat more than I used to. When I exercise and get extra calories to eat, I enjoy peanut butter on my fruit or in my protein shake, otherwise I never would be able to eat that many! I do agree with you though, that when I read some peoples foods for the day, it seems like they can't be eating enough. But, so many people on here say "EAT YOUR CALORIES", and now that I am, it really seems to be working.

I understand your pain! My weight when my hubby and I first met... 150. Two and a half years later, when he proposed, I was 175. 8 months later when we got married, I was back at 154. Three years later, I was at my highest ever of 206. He was about 170 when we met, about 190 when we married (after not taking my hints while I was working out--he hates our wedding photos now), close to 200 a couple of years ago. After he saw pictures of himself in Disney, he started cutting back and got down to a little under 180. He's up over 200 again now. It's hard, we're both foodies, and eating is something we enjoy doing together. Only now, I'm starting to share my healthy experiments with him...

    Week 1: 167 pounds
That leaves me with 29 pounds remaining to hit my goal weight of 138 pounds.

Goal: 20% of 29= 5.8 pounds (so we will say 6 pounds or 1 pounds per week).
Goal weight in 6 weeks: 161 pounds (final weigh in will be November 25th).

I weighed in at 163.5 today
    Alright, super yay!! :drinker:
Although I must admit... this is what I weighed 2 weeks ago :embarassed: before my ulcer started to act up, before my bad eating habits crept up, BUT this is my lowest weight in almost 10 years!

    Awe Cathy,

I feel bad for you. You have come a long way in losing so much weight. This sounds like an issue you have to face and find another way to deal with instead of giving in to that temptation. I wish I could go with you. Is there something you really enjoy doing; reading a magazine, bath, etc. that would make you feel better? Feel Better:heart::flowerforyou:

    Hey all,

I know I posted already today but just wanted to add a couple things!

Cathy - BIG hugs and much love from your MFP Sexy Sixers. From someone else who knows how to bury those bad feelings with those yummy treats, I know how you feel!! I've been trying to work out at those times rather than eat even though it is sooo hard to do!! hang in there!! :flowerforyou:

Also, to those of you who encouraged me to get the Shred DVD, it came today, I completed level one for the first time, and I swear....I thought I was going to FALL OVER DEAD!!! But as soon as I thought I was about to give up the 20 minutes was over. What an AMAZING workout!!! I cannot wait to do it tomorrow again!!! Thanks for the suggestion.

although I will admit I cussed out Jillian when she made me do jumping jacks again during the third circuit!!! haha.

best wishes for sweet dreams to all of you!

    Hey ladies,

What a long day today!! I stopped to get snacks for my little ones and get my son down for his nap, but otherwise I was literally in the kitchen all day. I had to wash, peel, core, chop and cook 3 shopping bags worth of apples from my in-laws' apple tree and now half of it is in my slow cooker becoming apple butter. Tomorrow I'll can the apple butter and the apple sauce. We'll keep some and some will go for Christmas gifts! But WHEW... long day standing in the kitchen!! Tomorrow needs to be an outdoor day!

Here is my meal plan for tomorrow:

    1: homemade whole grain porridge
    2: broccoli spears & a protein shake
    3: homemade porridge muffin
4: cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread w/ 1 tbsp apple butter
    5: 1 apple w/ 1 tbsp peanut butter
6: 1 bowl homemade split pea sweet potato soup
7: protein shake (after the gym)
8: whole wheat tortilla wrap w/ grilled chicken, salsa, savory cabbage, skim milk cheese, red pepper
9: homemade porridge muffin w/ raspberry fruit juice-sweetened jam

Exercise: advanced choreography step class and possibly a small run on the tread mill. Depends on when I get to the gym!

Hi to everyone - personals are a whole new ball game these days!

thanks for the (((((hugs))))). i didn't eat. i was aware of the fact that i wanted to for this. and was surprised at my thinking that it would hurt DH. he wouldn't see it on the scale or feel anything from it. i would, so who does it hurt ME.

anyway now i am struggling with my mind. i am feeling guilty that i won't get in a workout before i leave. but, i do have this afternoon to do it. i am trying to understand why on that one. maybe because i have more excuses in the afternoon. one day isn't going to kill me. there will be days i just can't get it in. i am feeling that the scale won't move if i don't. again a new mind thing to deal with as the weight comes off. GUILT was a powerful thing!!!

so, off to shower and get ready to go the the expo, by myself. gee, it's happens to be at a mall. maybe i better balance the checkbook before i go. do a little retail therapy.

    check back later.

P.S. please help me name my horse (shes in my pic.) i just got her this weekend, shes 5 years old and just a little teddy bear, follows me around like a puppy dog and just wants to be loved on! almost all black, and has a really pretty, elegant face.... i was thinking Aubrey, or Dixie, or Winona, or Phoebe.....not so crazy about any of em.....PLEASE HELP!

Ok, so I like a few....I don't know what you're looking for but here are a couple suggestions from the peanut gallery lol....

    Roxie
Layla <= means "night" in arabic
    Bella <= means "beautiful"
Brenna <= means "little raven" in Irish

Roxie is perfect!! I really like that! Layla is cute, but i love roxie! she came with the name "peppermint twist" but Roxie is so perfect!! Thank you so much! Seriously I love that! You rock eHarris!

today i'm feeling a little defeated, it seems like my clothes aren't fitting well, and even when i watch what i eat and exercise i don't lose weight. I know i just have to stick to it, and that it takes time, but I am far from a patient person.

Do any of you guys do fad diets? like the Abs Diet or South Beach or anything? Are you just limiting your calories? What seems to work for you all?

Have a great day! We're half way to the week end - woohoo!

Amy, good job sticking it out through the entire workout and not giving up!!

Pedal, I am such a wuss in the kitchen. You are my kitchen hero! Taking the time and making all these yummy goodies. So cool!

Katy, congrats on meeting half your weight loss goal!!! It's all downhill from here, baby! You can do it!

Chipper, sounds like you were having one of those days. :frown: Hoping today is much better!!

Lynn, I cannot do the fad diets. I restrict calories but still eat what I like, although most of what I like requires too many calories so I am denied large portions of it. For example, last night I had two corndogs for dinner with my daughter and a slice of birthday cake  . Healthy? No, and I know that, and this was an unusual meal, but it stayed within the constraints of my daily calories!!

    Good morning Sexy Sixers!
Got my birthday gift early from my hubby- He gave me a Timex Heart Rate Monitor. He was sweet and was going to let me sleep in, but the kids wake me up in the morning anyways, all that dumb bickering over cereal and the toaster and who was the last person to use the peanut butter so they have to put it away. I think DH thought that because I got up, I would drive the kids in like always, and go workout, so he gave me my box early.

Unfortunately for him, he told me I could sleep in, so I'm planning on going back to bed... I'll just try my monitor out later!

Have a good day my peeps!

Mornin' Sexy Sixers!!!! Happy birthday Robin! Yesterday was a GREAT day! Didn't do the workout I had planned, but I did get in a 5K run...preparing for this Satuday. Burned almost 500 calories. Tonight will be some light cardio (I'm laying off the weights this week and any high intensity cardio to help prevent any possible injuries). But, next week will get back to normal. Today we have a work lunch at Hu Hot...YUM! But, calories might go over for the day. I'm just gonna try and load up on veggies! Not too terriblly worried. But, it's a rainy day, so might be lazy this evening. AFTER my workout that is. Anyways...gotta get to some work. Have a FABULOUS morning friends and I'll be back later!!!

T-minus 2 hours until my first Zumba class.
I hope I don't make a fool out of myself. :ohwell:
Doesn't matter... all that matters is I get a good aerobic workout.
(I'm going to keep repeating that in my head as I trip over my own feet in class today:frown: )

Good morning to all my fellow "SIS"!

Amylou-Shred is great! I dont do it enough. I will make that my goal for today! Do Shred!

Katy-Congrats on the half way mark!!! That is wonderful!

Cathy-Have good at the Expo- Your doing this for you and your health so a day of non-exercise is ok!

Lynnmarie-If you do fad diets, eventually you stop and when you stop....back on comes the weight. It is much better to get your caloric intake and exercise plan into action. I am doing Weight Watchers but it is still caloric intake. When I eat all my points then it matches up with MFP's suggested Caloric intake most of the time.

Pedal- Apple Butter is my favorite but I never thought to make i myself! If you wouldnt mind I would love your recipe!

    Robin- Happy Birthday!!!!:drinker:

Kristin- Good luck on your 5k! And for supporting a good cause at the same time!

Well, today is walking day. Should get in 6 to 7 miles. Want to get in Shred tonight if possible before bed. Have the kiddo's on my own this week. DH is hunting. I have not planned my food but it will be good! Alot easier to eat well without DH here. He doesnt discourage me but for some reason I make bad choices because I am trying to please both of us! Its my issue to resolve!

Everyone have a nice day. It is supposed to be Sunny and 70 here today which is hard to believe as it is 41 right now!

I finally feel better. Good-Bye Sickness!!! So, today I am back on track for eating healthy AND excercising. It's been so long since I've excercised - I'll be sore tomorrow...but it'll be worth it.

Wow! There are a lot of posts on this thread. I tried to read through them all but I just don't have time right now. Hopefully, I'll catch up later.

Katy, 1/2 WAY!!! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: That's so great! Yay for the half way club!!
    Robin, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :flowerforyou:
Cathy, don't beat yourself up about 1 day. You are extremely diligent
Kristin, you can make your lunch work, I'm sure! I'm excited for you that you're doing a 5k!! I have some knee issues but I hope that as the weight comes off I can start running and do a 5k then work up from there. Sounds like a good plan this week for keeping yourself injury-free
Lauryn, everyone can cook!! It does take time but it's SO worth it
Amy, a lot of times I don't really use a recipe, I just make stuff  I make most of our stuff from scratch, more and more all the time. I'm really particular about what's in our food and everything is better when it's fresh! For apple butter I first make the apple sauce by peeling the apples then boiling them down with a little water and cinnamon (if I'm going to keep it as apple sauce I use organic apple cider not from concentrate rather than water). Then I put the apple sauce in a slow cooker for as long as it takes (sometimes 12 to 16 hours!) along with a little agave nectar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ground cloves plus a little lemon juice. That's as close to a recipe as I've got!
LM, Roxy is a great name! In fact, one of my best friends' little ones named Roxy has her first birthday today!

Well, hi to everyone else  I need to get outside and start my day!

I did a steps and abs class this morning. Then I just spent a fortune on camping supplies. I had to get us new sleeping bags that are for cold weather. $40 a piece. I have enough cushion maybe I dont need one of those LOL. I didnt work out Monday or yesterday and I felt it today while I was doing my class this morning. Last night my hubby was late and by they time he got home I just didnt want to go. I cant do that again. I need to make sure that I go. Since I gained 2 lbs this week now I need to lose 14 instead of 12. I hope I can do it.

    Hi Ladies,

Cathy, Glad to hear you didn't end up eating to get your DH mad. I know where your coming from, I've felt the same way many times, but usually end up eating lots of junk. You have inspired me to think first next time that happens.

Robin, Happy birthday hope it's a good one!:flowerforyou:

Pedal, Your meal plan looks delish. I wish I could eat over there for a day or two!:drinker:

Kristen, Wow, you are really burning up some calories.

Katy, Congrats on the 1l2 mark. You are looking marvelous!!!

    Welcome Sugarplum

Amy, I got my walk in today and want to Shred tonight too! I'll think of you as I'm trying to get myself to do it.

    Today:
1; oatmeal, splenda, & dried cherries, coffee skim milk, & sugar free flavor
    2: apple
3: Lunch w/daughter at Chili's We split a burger & fries and had a side salad the cals. were high, but I will still be within my cals for the day.
    4: handful popcorn
    5: veggies & chicken breast
6: skim milk & 1 piece Lindt 70%dark chocolate (they say it's good for you)

Got my walk in which works out good for me lately since I can listen to my lecture from class over again. I will try to do shred tonight too. Still feeling stressed and can't wait for it to let up. I have not got much water in today. How are all of you about drinking water? Do you always get all your water in? How much do you drink in one day?

    Have a good afternoon:happy:

Hey gals! Lunch was SO yummy...Hu Hot. And I ate a TON of food and it was around 550 calories. Which...yes is a lot, but with a workout, I should be able to stay within my calorie limit for the day! Oh! And I forgot to post my meals for today. Here it is:

B-Wheat English muffin with 1 tbsp. natural PB and 1 wedge laughing cow light swiss, 8 oz. Light cran-grape juice, 1 multivitamin, and 1 small apple.
S-2 c. coffee, 2 tbsp. sugar-free creamer, Kashi TLC breakfast bar, 100 cal pack banana streusels.
L-HuHot (1/2 c. chicken, 3/4 c. Yakisoba noodles, 2 c. mixed veggies, 4 oz. Samurai Teriyaki sauce, and diet coke).
S-I have a granola bar with me, but I may not even eat it. Still full from lunch.
D-A nice big green salad with some shredded free cheese and spritzer dressing. If I'm still hungry, I'll make myself a sandwich or have a yogurt or something.

Workout plan-Light cardio of some sort...still haven't decided. Either a brisk incline walk on the treadmill with some running intervals or elliptical training. We'll see what I feel like at the gym!

Well...I'm going to finish up some things at work, and hopefully be out of here around 4. Then to the gym. Have a great rest of the day my girlies and I'll be back either later tonight or tomorrow!

How are all of you about drinking water? Do you always get all your water in? How much do you drink in one day?

Hey Deb! Happy Wednesday! I have not been getting as much water in as I used to. This new job makes it tough. But I'm still getting lots in. I LOVE the stuff! So I try and drink it whenever I drink! I used to have a water bottle that was 3 servings (24 oz) and I would make sure to have one throughout the morning (before lunch), one throughout the afternoon, and then one while I worked out. Then I'd usually end up drinking more water in the evening...although I like tea in the evening as well. But either way, I was always getting all my water in plus some. I kind of made it a rule that I had to finish my whole water bottle before I could eat my lunch...that way I always got it done. The afternoon and workout water was never a big deal, it was just the morning. I'm sure you can figure out something that works for you. Good luck, my friend! :flowerforyou: And let me know how it goes!
