=o/ Sorry to hear that, I'll be praying!
    Prayer changes things!
I was told my son had a hole in his heart etc, but on a Sunday night prayer meeting he was healed in the womb and the next ultrasound I went to they said he was FINE! =o)

My nephew was born with a hole in the heart, he had open heart surgery at 4, I think, he's 13 now... I think he still has a heart murmor or something like that...glad your boy got better!

    Thank you! =o)
There have been MANY times where prayer has changed my life, my kids' lives...=o)))

Update......My nephew was born Sunday morning. They did one surgery but couldn't get all of the baby's intestines inside. His name is Chance Michael and he was 6 lbs. 4 oz. They transported him for surgery right away. His intestines are in a bag hanging above him. They say as time goes by they will shrink (as right now they are swollen) and go back inside him. He may possibly need a couple more surgeries but only time will tell. His heart and lungs are strong and he is not in pain. He has been sleeping peacefully. The doctors say the survival rate is very high. He may be in the hospital anywhere from 1-8 months. No one is able to hold him and only the parents and grandparents are allowed to see him. This is a very tough time and all of your prayers are appreciated. :flowerforyou: :brokenheart:  But if he's anything like his dad and mom he's a figher and a tough little guy. He'll pull through. :flowerforyou:

    Thanks all  :smooched:

Thanks all.......it's just so hard. I mean the poor little guy is so small and going through sooooo much. :brokenheart:  And I couldn't imagine how my brother and his girlfriend feel. Not even being able to hold your baby. Especially when he's going through so much. :frown: But he'll pull through. Thanks again for the support. :smooched:

kellch...you already know I'm praying. I talked to your mom and dad last night and just wanted to reach over the phone and give them a big hug:cry: I told them to tell Jeff and Amanda if they need any help w/ Chloe to let me know.

Garrett and I have been busy all morning making them some bread, cookies, and such. We are going to head out and get some a gift certificate to a local restaurant later today as well. The mom in me just wants to hold little Chance, but obviously that is not possible. So the baker in me is coming out:wink: Yes, it is hard to not hold your baby. I didn't even see Parker for 3 days following his birth and didn't hold him for 5 days...I cannot imagine what Jeff and Amanda are going through considering their circumstances.

(((hugs))) to the aunt and congrats on your new nephew!

I will be sure to pass on the (((hugs)))! I'll probably just try and drop the stuff off to your mom and dad today/tomorrow and let them get it to Jeff and Amanda. I just got off the phone w/ my mom and she had just talked to your dad...said he had a long night and couldn't sleep. My heart just aches for them. Before you know it my 3 little guys will be teaching little Chance all sorts of evil wrong doings lol (don't hold me responsible:wink: ).

Ok......that works. You're not allowed in to go in and see him anyway. And even if you could, my dad said it's a tough thing to see. Probably better to just do it that way. Yes my dad was pretty tore up. Oh, I'm sure your guys and Chance'll be getting into all sorts of stuff together.

Just like we did

Hi! I'm Kathy, a Newborn Resuscitation Nurse. I've been to several deliveries and looked after babies like this a lot of times! It's called Gastroschesis, and it's more common with young Moms. Sounds like the baby is doing well. If he is a term baby he'll do a lot better than preterms too. The method they are using to reduce the bowel is a newer method, at least here in Winnipeg it was just being started a year ago. But from all I've heard from the Neonatologists is this is a much perferred method than just the surgery. There's a less chance of infection which is usually one of the major complications. If the heart, lungs and all are working well, that means there is good pumping and delivering of blood to these organs- so there's less chance other complications. It's hard to see and breaks your heart for those family involved, but these babies usually do very well. Unfortunatly he can't go home with his Mommy and Daddy, but the Neonatal Nurses out there LOVE their babies (we say they're ours when we look after them) and will get the best care in the world. Take care, many hugs to your family at this tough time. Positivity, support and (washing those hands) is the best thing right now!! I LOVE the name! Any questions, let me know, your friend Kath

Thank you very much for that :flowerforyou: He was only two weeks early, so pretty close to full term. They said organs are all working well. So I'm glad to hear that betters his chances. It is very hard to see. Of course I can't see it and I'm 10 hours away anyway. I was going to go home for this but they told me not to. I know he's in the best place to be for great care. The nurses are all wonderful there from what I've been told so far. Thank you for this info. I had never heard of this condition. :flowerforyou:
