Liver function tests LFT is a fairly standard blood test.

Many people, myself included, have perfectly good results without ever doing any liver detoxes or essential oils cleansing or any other sort of cleansing.

( mine were tested as a standard over 45 check up which included things like glucose level , thyroid, Cholestrol etc )
LFT is a standard check up test, similar to checking Cholestrol levels.

I didn't say that the cleanse improved my liver function i just said that it has not harmed my liver.

Actually, that's exactly what you implied on a number of occasions in this thread.

I am still very confused as to how essential oils will do this.

You guys are super mean!! What is wrong with restarting your body? I don't have an eating disorder, thank you very much. I don't think being 15 lbs over weight, 150!!! After my second child is classified as an eating disorder, neither is starting with a light cleanse and 50% raw diet to try and lose the weight. If you are so terribly against it then that is your issue, which I can see you have many of. Forget this community, because it seems to me that you are a bunch of small minded people who are emotionally messed.

    And there it is!

Our point is you don't need to cleanse anything from your body, as your liver and kidneys already do that. If you want to lose weight, all that is needed is eating less than you burn. Any special diets like this will only help you out temporarily, if at all. They don't teach you how to properly feed your body.

Actually if you want to be exact, it is not a bad idea to cleanse your liver, it doesn't always do a perfect job or liver disease wouldn't be a problem, i Myself use an essential oil mixed with lemons and peppermint to cleanse my liver, and their are many study's on this that say it is a very wise idea, so really your just being judgmental when you do not have all of your facts correct. SMH

That will not cleanse your liver in any way.

    Liver Clearing Blend
Health-Essentials.info recommends a mixture of three essential oils called the "Liver Clearing Blend" for improving liver health and function. This blend consists of ledum essential oil, which contains high antioxidant properties for detoxification, celery seed essential oil, which helps to rejuvenate the liver, and helichrysum essential oil, which is a natural anticoagulant and antiviral. This essential blend helps cleanse the liver and protect it from disease.

Name one toxin being removed from your body by cleansing. Specific to the cleansing, not one that your body removes naturally. A toxin that our bodies cannot handle, necessitating a cleanse.

You are doing the Lord's jof's work here, good and faithful sister. Blessings to you.

oh well if that is all you are saying, I dont think many people would disagree. :s

Let me get this straight - what you are really saying is that lemon water and peppermint oil or whatever it was, are not harming your liver.
    -
I doubt anyone would say such benign and everyday things like lemon water and peppermint oil would be harmful (unless taken in ridiculously high dosages)

But of course same could be said about just about every benign and everyday substance, unless taken in ridicuously high dosages.

say, strawberry jam, rose hip tea, grapefruit juice, cinnamon flakes, just to pick a few random items.

Saying something is not harmful is hardly the same as saying it has cleansing or detoxing effects - or indeed any beneficial effects.

In short, seems a silly and pointless claim.

Ya know what it makes me feel good bottom line end of story.

I had some food poisoning a couple of weeks ago. Does that qualify as a juicing and cleansing?

Do what makes you feel good, absolutely.

But there are no scientifically proven medical benefits. That's all people are saying.

Huh... just looked at my numbers from my standard blood tests from earlier this year... while my liver function didn't come back "fabulous" it did come back "normal"... and without all the essential oil and detox voodoo that you do so well... Thank you my liver!

This is you saying that lemons and peppermint improved your liver function by insinuating that your liver doesn't function "optimally" without these oils since it doesn't always "do a perfect job".

Yup pretty much... but essential oils peeps will believe anything when it comes to oils... In my church we have A LOT of people sell the stuff... and some of us have such disdain for those that sell it (we are fine with these people as long as they keep the oils to themselves)... I have some friends that deal with fairly severe medical issues... and according to these sales people essential oils can cure them.... no matter that only a literal miracle from God can cure these things permenantly... and I'm not talking Benny Hinn style either....

I have heard that it has cured strep (never mind that this person didn't even take her kids to the doctor to have them diagnosed)... and this lady tried to tell me peppermint oil would help my 3 year old with her constipation (raisins and prune juice did the trick... quite explosively)... I could go on... but I'll stop here.

Fine - and if all you had said at the beginning was that lemon water and peppermint oil are harmeless to the liver (nobody disagrees with that) and it makes you, individually, feel good to take them - no-one would argue with you.

Just like me saying, a cup of coffee and a shower with lavender shower gel makes me feel good in the morning and does no harm to my liver .
    Also a true statement.
But also silly in terms of any scientific recomendations to anyone else.

The liver is the gateway to the body and in this chemical age its detoxification systems are easily overloaded. Thousands of chemicals are added to food and over 700 have been identified in drinking water. Plants are sprayed with toxic chemicals, animals are injected with potent hormones and antibiotics and a significant amount of our food is genetically engineered, processed, refined, frozen and cooked. All this can lead to destruction of delicate vitamins and minerals, which are needed for the detoxification pathways in the liver. The liver must try to cope with every toxic chemical in our environment, as well as damaged fats that are present in processed and fried foods.

Liver cleanse does not work on it's own but your liver does get overloaded with toxins from everywhere, you can't sit and name every toxin that your body dispels, so yeah i think aiding your liver in it's job can only be helpful. I am very educated but thanks for assuming that I'm not.

I rarely follow the educated advice of people who don't know how to use apostrophes. Also, still waiting for a toxin name or a scientific study published in a real scientific journal.

The doctor told me I had great levels, which he was surprised by for how badly I was hurt, I have been doing the liver cleanse as it is called for years so it is not effecting me in a negative way and if it makes me feel good and it not hurting me then why not. I understand tthere are some scams out there, but there are some legitimate practices also.

cleansing = a way for snake oil salespeople to part you from your hard-earned money

    want to cleanse?

    1. don't eat anything that doesn't exist in nature (eg: manufactured)
    2. drink plenty of water
    3. exercise

assuming you have a liver and kidneys, you'll be fine
