    if it is genetics i think (and i hope too ) it's a problem because i'm a pear shape.

    Just a thought....

    Why not just be the best version of yourself that you can instead of obsessing over a stranger who you know nothing about and who has access to more tools than any of us?

    I've been actively working on getting what is conventionally known as "bulky" for going on 2 years. still not bulky.

    It also takes an amount of androgens that is difficult for women to obtain with administration of exogenous male hormones. Most women cannot get bulky even if that is their goal unless they are bulky due to obesity. Building muscle is difficult, even for men.

    This. Body composition goals are one thing, but you can't change your body type. Embrace what you have and make the best of it.

    edit- just to be clear- it makes me sad because it means even getting 1/4 of what they have takes SO much work. not because I want to be Ms Olympia (not that that is wrong- just not my goal)

    I just want to be a leeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttllllllllllllle bit bigger- and a leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttttttllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeee bit leaner. - which in conventional senses would push me into "bulky" territory.

    Then you just have unrealistic ideas of what people look like. That woman doesn't really exhibit much hypertrophy at all.

    But Beyonce is very different from you as well. She probably exercises for more than 2 hours a day, probably has a strict diet and a lot of other things that you aren't factoring in.

    There are a lot of women whose bodies I admire but I never once thought that I could look like them because, well, I can't.
    Seriously, stop obsessing over what someone else looks like and just start exercising.

    OP has a point though personally in life with some girls I talk to, did it right this time, will think that she looks bulky because you see muscle on a small body.

    I once read on MFP you just have to do crossfit, and you get huge.

    If you aren't eating above your maintenance calories and doing some pretty strict/intense resistance training, you aren't going to get too muscular.

    If you haven't already figured that out from the numerous times it's been said in this thread.

    Think of things like lose/gain weight, lose fat, show more/less muscular definition, gain muscle mass/size, etc.

    Okay, either way, saying something like "improve hips" isn't helpful in giving her an answer and I was hoping if she starts thinking in more quantifiable terms that she could better express her goals and find an appropriate answer. I didn't say she wanted to do any of those things, those were just better examples of explaining weightloss or fitness related goals.
