Struggles or successes of the week 12/8: I have been sick with the flu bug since Nov 26, So my work outs have been tough. Coughing through them, but not giving them my full 100%. I am getting a bit better, so hitting the gym tonight. Have not been eating alot due to not feeling well. Lets hope this week will get better
Struggles or successes of the week 12/15: All week I had to study for a very important exam I had on Monday morning the 15th, so I did not work out as much as I wanted to, and Christmas parties started last week. Drinking more alcohol than I usually do in the week.
Successes: I did work out 4 times during the week. Seeing a nutristionist on Wed, can't wait to see the outcome of that!!
Struggles or successes of the week 12/22: Still sick, going back to the doctors today. Work outs were tough due to not feeling well. Still tried to get them in. Ran aroung all week end to get things ready for Christmas eve, cleaning was a work out by itself. Now have to finishing wrapping those gifts.
Thought that sweating out this bug would help, but made me more sick!
Struggles or successes of the week 12/22: Finally started working out, even if my doctor told me to take it easy due to my anti-biotics. Feels so good after all this turkey eating. I went easy on the wine due to the medication, and I rested alot. So more energy, better training. Now one party left to go on the 31st!!0 -

Struggles or success of the week: I don't even know why I lied to myself about being good on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. I was terrible for 5 days straight. I'm shocked that the scale doesn't say otherwise. I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm not going to make it to 205 in 2 days...maybe I'll lose some water weight and get down to 207. That'd make me happy.
I definately feel like we need to do this weight loss challenge for the month of January! If nobody else wants to start the post over in January, I'd happily volunteer to do it.0 -

Struggle/success:
I _knew_ that Christmas week was going to be tough one! -- the bad news is that over Christmas week, I gained 4 pounds. The good news is: since, I've been able to drop 2 of those 4 pounds. So given I have 5 pounds to lose to close the gap to my goal, I'm going to exercise my *kitten* off today and tomorrow and see if I can actually attain my net 5 lb lost goal. It's VERY unlikely but I can try. And staying away from bad/empty calories can do me nothing but good.
In addition, a week ago Sunday/yesterday, we lost a very much loved family member. I went to the gym last night and on my way out asked when the last time I had been there: the previous Sunday. So between Christmas and losing a family member, it was a tough week to "focus" on losing weight. So I have no problem with giving myself a break on not focussing on weight loss. I also had success in "splurging lightly" -- that is, having some excess food but not going "all out" like I normally would over the holidays.
In hindsight, I wonder if my real goal should've been to just maintain my existing weight over the holidays. Hmmm... I just don't want to look like I'm pregnant anymore...I *just* saw this thread today 12/8/14 so for me it'll be a 3-week challenge; I hadn't really set a goal so this is great! That being said, I must be realistic given Christmas. Over Thanksgiving I gained a whopping 6 pounds! So I've yet to lose that weight and then combining Christmas and parties with that, I'm unsure what's achievable... So I'm going to shoot for a 4 lb loss.0 -

Struggles: Still having trouble getting back to working out, eating poorly nutritionally for several days despite never eating above maintenance even on the holidays. One day I ate popcorn for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Successes: Losing weight despite the struggles, nice to see more movement on the scale!0 -
Name: Tanisha
Height: 5'7"
Starting Weight (12/1): 255.2
Goal Weight (12/31): 245.2 adjusted from 249.0
12/8: 251.8 - down 3.4 lbs Not a bad week.
12/15: 247.2 - down 4.6 lbs YAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!
12/22: 246.2 - down 1.0 lbs I will take it!
12/29: 246.2 - No change (but I understand why)
12/31:
Week of 12/1 - Struggles or successes of the week: This is the first week of this challenge. My goal is to maintain a daily average of over 10,000 steps.
Week of 12/8 - I did 10,000+ steps every day last week. I am so proud of myself!!! I plan on doing the exact same thing this week. Wish me luck!!!
Week of 12/15 - I managed to do 10,000 steps every day last week!! Even when I was in bed for 2 days of last week. I was determined and made myself get out of bed. Again, I am striving for 10,000 steps everyday this upcoming week.
Week of 12/22 - I continued my 10,000 steps every day last week. My goal this week is two fold. I want to continue to do 10,000 steps every day and I need to make sure I drink the required amount of water. I am going to strive to drink at least 90 oz of water a day for this upcoming week. Wish me luck!!
Week of 12/29 - I have continued my 10,000 steps every day, but that water goal? I failed miserably. I think I got one day of 90 ounces in. I am definitely going to have to do better. Maybe I can make it my goal for the next three days and see how that goes.... Let's see if I can get down one more pound in three days. That will make me very happy!

12/23 (day late!): 163.8
12/29: 165.6 (thank you Christmas)
12/31:
Struggles: super sick
Successes: wasn't devastated over slight gain, learning to "trust the process" (my new mantra!). My relationship with my boyfriend has become better than it was 4 years ago; when he joked "why do we like each other so much lately??" I seriously asked him what was different, and he said "you don't snap at me as much." Even though I haven't had miracle weight loss this month, I've gotten some balance back and not let minor setbacks become major ones. Learning to simplify and focus on the positive in everything.
I'd really like to keep this challenge going for January, just restart check-ins by week- who's in??0 -

I don't know what you do for a living (if this could be an option for you), but what's really helped me drink enough water throughout the day (more than enough usually) is I keep a nalgene water bottle at my desk and make sure there's always water in it. I sip on it all day long and by the time it's time to go home, I've usually drank at least 96 oz of water (3, 32zo bottles full). It's just the opposite of out of sight, out of mind. My problem is drinking enough water on the weekends, but I'm getting better.

I finished on a high/low note. Yay!!!! I managed to lose 13 pounds in December! That is 3 past my goal! I hope and want to do as well in January.
Thanks for the advice sherbear702! I work in a lab, and usually keep a filled water bottle on my desk. My issue some days, is that it sits there full the entire day! I am trying to do better. I really am.0 -

12/8: 166.4
12/15: 165.6
12/23 (day late!): 163.8
12/29: 165.6 (thank you Christmas)
12/31: 163.0!
Final measurements:
Chest 37, waist 30, hip 42, thigh 25, arm 12
Successes: I lost 5 full pounds in December, in spite of holidays and busy days at work! Additionally I lost an inch off my chest, waist, hips and arms, and three inches from my thighs.
While I didn't meet my goal of 159, I am not too far off from that and I'm proud of the progress I've made. I cut out soda, juice, and the syruppy/sugary mess I used to call coffee. I had to throw out the ice cream in our freezer and the cookies in our pantry because they got so old and were untouched! When I tried a cookie the other day (the kind I used to have 10 of in one sitting), I almost couldn't eat it because it tasted so bland and fake.
My relationship with my best friend/boyfriend of 5 years is better than ever, and so is my relationship with myself. A little over a month ago, I was Googling "depression cures" and desperate for a change. Now I can honestly say I'm happy. If you need a mantra, use the one I've adopted: "trust the process."
Really looking forward to more progress in January. Awesome job ladies!! Let's keep this going into the new year; I would love to see how far our group can go. Happy New Year!

Hello again, everyone! This discussion is a continuation of my December 2014 Challenge! I wanted to take the challenge into the new year, seeing as how many of us (namely myself) may have fallen off the wagon and need to get back on for a fresh start. So here we go! Just come back on Thursday, January 1, and post your stats to join. Weigh-ins will be every Thursday, but feel free to alter the dates and choose your own weigh-in day of the week. Good luck guys and gals!
