So glad I found this thread. I need to take this day by day, or I will never get back to a healthy weight.
So for today (tonight), I will:
1) Stop berating myself for going over my calorie goal
2) Remind myself tomorrow is another day
Thank you, Joan0 -
8/1: just for today:
I am logging late. it is 5.37 pm in India. I will just log what I have stuck to as planned:
1) avoided unhealthy foods.

1. Log Everything I eat and Pay Attention Bad choices, but it's logged
2. Take a walk
3. Drink Hot Tea should have had more, but better than the day before
4. Stay calm at work. I can do this and whining about it does not help anyone. This made the day feel much better
January 8 Just for Today I will
1. Log everything I eat and stay in my goals
2. Take a walk
3. Enjoy these last couple of days with my daughter before she goes back to college.
4. Treat her as the adult she is now. Suggestions are OK, but do not tell her what to do.
I know the last 2 do not sound difficult, but they really can be. I am proud of the adult she is turning into, but it is harder than I expected to let go and watch her make her own decisions (and yes, mistakes, but as GrandmaJackie reminded us earlier, this is how we learn and grow),
Have a Terrific Thursday Everyone!

Just For Today 1/8:
I will drink 8 glasses of water
I will log every morsel that goes into my mouth
I will stay within my calorie goal
I will stay out of the candy bowl at work
I will go to Crossfit
Missed yesterday somehow ... having trouble with my water intake. Going to take two bottles to work and drink them both before I leave!

3) Stay within my caloric intake goal
4) Be kind to myself (calling yourself fat DOES NOT help!)0 -
Yesterday- Just for today
I will drink 10 cups of water, and practice eating more slowly!
Almost made #1, and #2 was a good exercise! I forgot when I started dinner but as soon as I remembered I practiced eating slower.
Just for today, 1/8/15,
I will NOT be upset about going over my calories (going out to dinner to celebrate my birthday). That being said, I am planning to only have 2 pieces of large pizza and a small or regular size ice cream.
I will eat an abundant amount of veggies at lunch and before going out to help myself feel full.
I will also try to get to 100oz of water today... its an elusive thing for me these days, used to be no problem at all!!!0 -
Yesterday ---
1. DO not get discouraged. One day at a time. Did not do this. I get so discouraged when the weight does not come off faster. Need to change the mindset.
2. Look for a low - calorie item on the menu when eating out tonite with my friend. We are eating at a Mexican Restaurant - so choose something healthy. KInda - had a appetizer, chicken quesidella, which I guessed as low in calories. But gave in and had a margarita! Good, but later, wondering if it was worth the calories.
3. Drink water
4. Walk around the mall to get in my walking after eating out tonite. 45 minutes of walking after dinner!
Just for today, 1/8
1. I am really struggling with keeping my sugar low, so need to concentratate on NO Sugar.
2. Do not become obsessed with what the scale says. Just concentrate on eating healthy.
3. Drink more water
I love so much reading everyone's posts. And yes Jackie -- so excited about your new little granddaughter to come soon!!!0 -
It is SOOOO cold here today (-18F with the windchill) that it's making it hard to get out to the gym.
BUT for today:
1. I will make it to the gym and get some endorphins to continue to eat healthy/well.
2. I will enjoy all my yummy food because it's not a FAST day.
3. drink lots of water.
Still doing great on not eating eat night and sticking to eating smaller portions.0 -
Goal for today - Watch the sugar
I let the diet slide a bit over the holidays (though nothing like how I would have eaten in years past, thank Goodness) and it is proving easy to stay slid. No! I will not continue like this.
What do we say to soda? Not today.0 -
Love this one day at a time philosophy!
Just for today:
1. I will stop beating myself up for the holiday weight I put on.
2. I will get up at work and walk around every hour.
3. I will get a run in this evening.0 -
Just for today:
1. I will not let having a day off work mean I do nothing all day
2. I will log everything even if I slip
3. I will continue mindfulness meditation and stop getting annoyed about my slips but focus on the future and positives.0 -
Just for Today 01/07:
1. Log everything I eat
2. Do 10 minutes of meditation didn't even think about it til I was in bed
3. stay positive struggling with this one as well

Not sure if I can join you by typing in this box but I read all of your posts and I love the concept you live by, just for today!
I dusted off my elliptical this morning and actually used it for 30 minutes, I've had great difficulty I'm moving this body for lack of energy and motivation but I've done a great job daily on logging my food intake however the needle on the scale appears too be stuck!
I'm 78 and can't even believe I'm still working on this issue of weight, I've struggled all of my life and continue to yo yo.
I need to lose 40 pounds and there's nothing I want more than to accomplish that so now all I need to do is figure out what needs to be done to make that happen, I'm in charge here and I've come too far to take orders from a cookie!
God has given me today and I made good use of it, I'm grateful!
If I'm given tomorrow I'll show my gratitude by doing another 30 minute elliptical session!0 -

2. I will just push PLAY and get it done!
3. I will stick to my eating plan (and quit thinking I'm hungry when I'm not)
Just for today:
1. I will allow myself to take a nap because my body needs the rest
2. I will focus on the baby steps it takes to get to my goal
3. I will remember to appreciate my husband who is sharing this journey with me and gets up to work out with me even tho he could have slept in and done his workout later.

Would love to have you join us! I am 64, and like you, have struggled with weight my entire life. My biggest problem is eating after 8pm. I can do OK all day, but its the evenings that get me in trouble. I am trying to cut down on sugar, as for me, sugar leads to binge eating, cravings, etc. Good for you doing 30 minutes on the ellipitical!!0 -

I need to start with the meditation. How do you do this? Do you just relax and listen to music, or do you have something you read? Nite time is my worse time - so I really need to find something to help me get through those evening hours. I'm thinking maybe doing some meditation, but don't know where to begin learning this.

Joan, I read the book 10% Happier by Bill Harris. He talks about his journey to meditate. Basically, I set a timer and sit in a quiet room and try to keep my head clear. The book is an excellent read and by hearing his struggles, it helps when you are trying to do it and your mind wanders. The number one thing he tells you is to not give up. Eventually, you can clear your mind. The whole goal is once you have that type of control, then you can control the monsters in your head. Which is what I'm looking to get to!0 -

I have a suggestion, after 8 which is your danger time, grab an apple to munch on or sugar free jello with some tea, it's worth a try !0 -
I love this method. Thank you for starting a thread!
Just for today, I took it easy on myself. I worked hard to keep my chin up, questioned my cravings (turned out I was cold, not hungry) and went to a fitness class I didn't want to go to. Had so much fun, and found my motivation to come home and eat a salad. I even squeezed in 20 push ups (with some motivation from my boyfriend). Tomorrow I'll squeeze in a little more exercise too!0 -
