Unexpected results of weight loss

I love this thread!
That spot under my cheekbones that I've been contouring for years...well, now it's visibly already "indented" from having a slightly slimmer face. My cheekbones are back! But yes, I still hit it up with some bronzer anyway8 -
It is so inspiring to hear about so much success! Keep this thread going, I could read this stuff forever!!3

My sister, who loves shopping, is happy. I knew weight loss would make me feel great, but I did not know it would make the people around me happier.
She says now whenever she sees something that she thinks would look nice on me, she no longer thinks "they don't come in large enough sizes". She is able to just randomly buy it for me as a gift. I don't know why, but it seems to make her happy.
After the first couple of times, she started buying me stuff a size smaller, because she knows things get too roomy pretty fast.16 -
I am loving how all of the clothes i keep trying to hang on to are just too darn big for that....so I will have to give them up.....5

You all are totally inspiring me. It's my first day back on MFP, and already I can't wait to experience these things!6

I can see my feet. LOL6

Ooh! The clothing mishaps made me think of another one. I was wearing an old pair of jeans to clean the house in, and as I was walking down the hallway, they suddenly just dropped to my ankles. Whoops . . . good thing that one wasn't in public! Needless to say, those jeans got chucked into the donation pile shortly thereafter.6

Wow, I'm jealous - what a great sister! My brother's useless - even at Christmas/birthdays he gets me rubbish presents. One year he got me car mats :-(11 -

My dad bought me a trunk mat once but I liked it! I spent so much money on that car, better keep it nice!1 -
In the shower I use a bar of soap to wash up. Lately as I've been rubbing the soap over my body to lather up...I feel a lot more muscle in places I didn't expect. That made me happy6

Excellent post! I have so much to look forward to, thanks for sharing!!2

Being able to look down and see the car seat when I'm behind the wheel (my thighs are no longer taking up the entire seat), and being able to pull the seat closer to the steering wheel rather than pushing it back (move on over stomach).5

My really unexpected thing was having my hygienist comment this week that my change of diet seemed to have decreased the amount of plaque on my teeth. We thought this must be as side effect of the fact that I have pretty much stopped drinking apple juice. (Do the sugars in pasta and bread land on one's teeth, does anyone know?) I was expecting my doctor to comment on my weight loss, but not my dentist!
They sure do.1 -

Oh my soul, I am so looking forward to this. My arms need to stop cheering me on when I move them around. LOL
I love both of these lol. I have a chorus of claps and cheers when I'm doing an exercise DVD but I know that soon it'll all be over.

great read
- I'm not the first one done eating because I've inhaled my food.
- My wedding ring fits again.
- My feet don't tingle after 5 min of exercise.1 -
70 lbs down, 287 - 216.8, here's some things I didn't expect:
-I passed by a mirror and noticed how slim and long my fingers look now. They used to look like short stubby sausages. This prompted me to try on some rings I had stuffed away because they didn't look very cute on fat fingers, and now they look really cute and flattering.
-The husband made a suggestion last week that I should buy some lingerie. This one is kind of a biggie and not expected at all because many years ago I asked him if he'd like it if I wore some lingerie and he said "nah" and that I'm more of a "PJ's kind of girl." Yes, I am, in fact, I'd wear PJ's everywhere if it were socially acceptable, but it kind of stung at the time that he wasn't the least bit interested in the idea of me in lingerie. I doubt he remembers this conversation ever happening, but it did feel good that apparently he's imagining me as more than just a "PJ's kind of girl" now.
-The husband has also been expressing himself a lot lately about how much he likes my butt. And I'm thoroughly enjoying the attention, lol.
-I have a bunch of old clothes that I've been holding onto for years and years for the off-chance that I'd be able to wear them again one day. Well, now I can wear most of them, except NOW I want to just give them away and buy new clothes to wear instead. It seems like one article of clothing after another I'm like "Why the heck did I hang onto this? Bleh, I'm not wearing this rag anywhere." It appears the only reason was the hope of fitting into them again one day, not much else is inspiring about these clothes that have been taking up real estate in my closet for many years. I really wasn't expecting that.
If I think of any more I'll post again. Great thread.

I'm all smiles. Love this thread. My favorite surprises are:
Now my 11 year old son and I can fit into my favorite rocker recliner comfortably.
I can snuggle/nap with my honey on the couch.
Kneeling at mass is no longer torture
I have twice the wardrobe now that I can share clothes with my swanky 21 yr old daughter.

After I lost almost 60lbs - sitting on the toilet seat hurts when you have less cushion back there.
I loved having that curve in your armpit when you raise your arm.3 -
After my 43 pound weight loss, the lower back pain has nearly disappeared. I rarely see my chiropractor now and I got more money in my wallet! I definitely feel more comfortable and confident shopping for clothes now.7
-
Slim neck, no more double chin. Cheek bones! Collar bone. A real waistline. Shoes too big now. Second looks from old acquaintances who just stare. All good, really good.9
-
I've got arthritis in my knees and losing the weight has helped tremendiously, also my left leg used to go numb when I would sit. I no longer have that to contend with.6

So, here's one that didn't really occur to me until early this week:
Community
When I first started going to the gym 8 or 9 months ago, I was uncomfortable. Worried I would make a fool of myself doing something, or someone would be a dick and I wouldn't want to go back. I did a couple classes, then I ventured into the cardio room, then I ventured into the small weight room. THEN, I decided I wanted to really lift and started working with a trainer. I'll work with her for a week or two, then do it on my own for a while. During the holidays, I spent a lot of time out of town. As soon as I got back to the gym, several people asked if I was ok, they hadn't seen me around. Then asked how my holidays were.
What was even better was a couple of weeks ago when I was lifting on my own and just knew these two guys in the weight room were watching me. (And, in my mind, judging.) It turned out they were. Since the trainer wasn't with me I was probably taking it a little lighter on my bench. Once of them walked over and said, "You can do more than that. I've seen it. I'll spot you, let's go."
At this point, when I went in on the holiday Monday, the guys working the desk had a game going where they made a list and bets of the people they each thought would come in on the holiday. I made both their lists. As they said, Yeah, we knew YOU would be here.
I have a whole extra set of friends now!64 -
I am looking forward to some of these things you have posted. It is fun to see what each of you have to say.
I want my heels to not be so dry and cracked and hurting
snoring to stop
belly and all fat to be gone
be able to see a dress or shirt in a store and put it on and it look great
I am down 6 lbs and have 43 more to my goal weight. Looking forward to more posts and loosing enough that I see some things change on me.

2. Shopping in my closet, trying on a skirt that I had gotten too big for, and realizing I missed my window of opportunity!
3.My husband posted a picture of me from a year ago when I was at my heaviest and instead of crying at how fat I was, I was happy realizing I'm no longer there.
Ahum mine is a bit embarrassing.
Going into the hot whirlpool to work out and started to jump around and could just grab my bikini pants before it dropped off.
Lazy me and dont wanted to waste any time walking back home to change i waited till nobody was there anymore. sitting relaxing and such...when i was alone i started to work out very fast to get my exercising done...while i was holding my bikini pants with one hand.
This sort of happened to me, although luckily I was wearing a one-piece because I was swimming laps. I got in and woosh--water filled my whole suit and it was no longer clinging to my body, but floating around me. That was one of the worst swims I've ever had, lol.
Also, naive me didn't realize that the armpit thing was from losing weight! Just recently whenever I've been showering I'll go to shave my armpits and be angry at how they could've gotten that bad overnight--come to find out I'm not really shaving them at all because the razor can't fit in the actual "pit" properly!3 -
corbinskiii wrote: »being freezing all the time (wearing hoodies because I'm legitimately freezing instead of the middle of summer because I'm self conscious about my body)
.. This! I'd always wear things to cover up during the summer. When people would ask if I was hot, I'd say no that I was just fine even though I felt like I was burning in hell I was so hot.

Apparently I have a "I need and want to workout, please let me go get to it" face. According to my husband I have one, I didn't realize that I projected that much, cause I totally think it!!!7

This is awesome and should be shown to all girls who are afraid to go to the weight room because boys.6 -
I noticed when I dropped a good portion of the weight that when I walk my arms don't run on the fat that's sitting on my hips. I just realized it the other day haha.1
