    Never fixed them. Just avoided long enough that when I did finally go back it destroyed by insides and felt like crap. Cravings have subsided a lot since that.

    OMG, yum. Not that I was still following what was happening on this thread anyway, that Dove chocolate reference totally distracted me. (Did you hear Cadbury is banned in U.S. now? Ugh!!!     I will have to tell my DD about this. She adores Cadbury chocolate. She will be devastated.
    The good news is, they have the Cadbury mini eggs and the crème eggs for Easter in the stores right now. Will have to stock up on the mini eggs, they are her favorites.

    Now that you mention it, the last time I ate fast food, I felt like I was going to die for about 3 hours. :X It did not sit well in my tummy at all. Ditto the tex mex place. But we have plans for a really nice Italian place for a friend's birthday in March.... *knocks on wood* I hope I feel all right that evening.

    I would say it depends on WHY the dietitian told you to only eat it that way that often. If you have over the top uncontrolled blood pressure than yes, you should probably lay off the pizza. It's inherently high in sodium, there are ways to reduce it but it's always going to be high for a person with uncontrolled high bp. If it's because you need to lose a few lbs and they feel that pizza is too high calorie then..phhoey. Just work it into your macros when you want it.

    I was never a huge fast food person anyway, but I found that as I gradually began making healthy changes (stress: gradually!), my cravings diminished and then stopped. Now, every once in a while I think about a Filet of Fish, but I know I don't really want it.

    A couple of tricks: 1. Watch Supersize Me and Food Inc. The first will change the way you see fast food and the second will make you really think about where your food comes from. I haven't eaten McDonald's since I saw Supersize Me, and I've really cut down on processed foods since watching Food Inc, which helped me lose the baby weight after my kids were born.
    2. Check out Pinterest for healthy food porn (stress: Healthy! There's a lot of amazing looking gooey cheesy and chocolatey stuff on there!). The healthy stuff just looks so fresh and colorful and amazing, maybe it will inspire you to try something new.

    If fast food is a necessity, try to seek out healthier options like Subway. We have an amazing little chain of healthy "fast food" places called Life Alive here that has salads, wraps, bowl, smoothies etc. The drawback is that they're pricey!

    Good luck to you! I agree with everyone who says not to deny yourself, just eat it less often and make sure to count the calories! You can do this!

    ETA: Seriously, if you're happy sitting at home and never getting out then power to you... but if you do it because you're hiding from the world and are unhappy and bitter (which is honestly how your posts came off to me) I was TRYING to show you how great it CAN be. You don't have to sit at home if you don't' want to. I was you for a LONG time. Sitting at home and telling myself I was happy just hanging out with my cat and playing World of Warcraft.

    My desire for fast food was largely based around the fact that it was convenient. I cook well; but cooking takes time, thought, and energy. The things I cook are just as good, if not far superior to anything I can get at a fast food restaurant, so maybe you could work on finding tasty recipes that are better than anything from BK, McD's, or Taco Bell, which isn't really hard.

    One of the big problems with fast food is you never know how long it's just been sitting under a heat lamp. Having hot food that's been made fresh has no substitute.

    Realize that when you eat out, you're often settling for second-, third-, or maybe even fourth-rate food. Make it yourself and you're almost guaranteed to be eating better food.

    I felt that I had developed what felt like an addiction to fast food there for a while. It was a little scary! Once I started here on MFP I still had it once in a while, but always logged it like I do everything else. Eventually I decided to avoid getting it at all for while, mainly to break what I felt was a compulsion. The place I had the most trouble with was McDonalds, so getting better choices from a place like Wendy's (chili, or a grilled chicken sandwich) felt fine. But when it came to McDs, I literally felt helpless sometimes.

    Fast forward to now... I can honestly say that it just doesn't hold the appeal to me it once did, but I will have it once in a while. And it never tastes as good or is as satisfying as I think it will. ;)

I drink when I'm thirsty, I eat before I get crazy hungry, and when stressed or sad, I go outside and take at least a 15 min. walk, or do a workout- the more ridiculous the better. If I'm stressed I need to laugh. Anything with women in leotards and leg warmers from the 80s usually does the trick.

    I plan my groceries and my meals in advance. During the week, I have fun looking at various recipes, and on Fridays, I take all the fun things Ive seen and build my meal plan for the following week so that I can grocery shop Saturday morning. Having food ready to be prepared, with all ingredients on stand by has allowed me to cook or eat left overs every day. I used to eat fast food because I was too exhausted at the end of the day to cook. Now that I don't have to think about what to cook, I actually find the kitchen time to be ME time.

    Finally, I haven't made any of my 'bad' cravings taboo or off limits. I'm in a pretty low cal diet, and have been using a technique where I rock above my daily intake by about 300 calories 1 day a week- it's also the only day every week I don't do formal exercise- I usually eat some of these foods on that kind of day. One week I may choose to have a couple of glasses of wine, on a different week, I may choose to eat whoopie pies.

    You'll have to find strategies that work for you, everyone is different. Good luck!
