Am I the only one who takes unflattering race photos? (Pic!)

At my last half, I made an effort to look like I was running strong and feeling good, without a huge grin and waving that is. I looked like I was dying. Next time I am just going to put on a giant grin and wave or something, see if it helps. Probably won't.0

I feel like the woman next to you is praying that she makes it to the finish line.
I hate running, and have only done one color 5k with no pics. But thanks for the entertainment!
And congrats to all the finishers!0 -

Actually- as I was coming to the finish, I saw the women next to me struggling, so I ran over to her and said "you have come this far, you are finishing the race.. come on will run together". They were also playing music at the finish and the song "Call Me Maybe" was on, so I started singing it to her... lol. Needless to say, she finished the race with a huge smile on her face!

Haha, that's awesome!0 -
I've actually had a few fairly decent ones from obstacle races. Which is surprising because I don't tend to look good in most pictures.

You look here how I think I look in my head. The reality always falls short for me. I want to know your secret.

I have one good race photo and that is only because I learned the year before where the mid course ambush shot was. Any finish line shot at a race catches me trying to finish strong ... and looking like I'm about to die.
I do have a couple of good shots from the Tour de BBQ finish ... but that wasn't a race. Just a bike ride from one BBQ joint to the next.0 -

The secret was- I didn't know there was a photographer, and I was coming down a small incline after a hill- so I was feeling sweet relief and being able to see the finish line in sight. Also putting my energy into helping that other girl out, I was determined to finish strong so she could as well.

Haha! Well done for the race and the stylish photo.0 -
Right. So ... you are not welcome here. haha - totally joking. You look fantastic!0 -
Wow, thank you! I always just hope for one that isn't awful. lol0 -
I just did a 7k in Denver and my husband was at the finish line about to take my picture and he said I looked so awful he just couldn't take it. I love him.0

The ones of me on my bike seem to turn out well (I always seem to be smiling when I ride) but running I usually look like I've been stabbed.....0

Here's a super flattering photo of me finishing a 4 in HS. (I just skipped my 10 year reunion, so I'm a baby in this picture.) But check out those raptor arms!0 -

At a quick first glance it looks like he is melting into the pavement! Then you realise there is a wall there ha ha.0 -
These are the only 3 I've had taken. First one was 2010 at my heaviest weight of 235#. Next was 2011 after finishing P90X and down to about 210#. Last one was 2012 back up around 220#.
I'd be interested to see one now as I'm all the way down to 172# after joining MFP 15 months ago0 -

I usually wear a hat to races, which obscures my face in most race photos, since finish photos are taken from above. So the only things you can see are my killer legs and my super neon shirt, and the race bib hides any belly pudge, so usually my race photos are decent. You just can barely tell it's ME in them, haha. However, on rare occasions when I see the photographer guys, I try to give a thumbs up and a smile and end up looking super derpy.0

From above --> good!
Tried to look cool --> nope!
And yes. I wore virtually the same outfit to not just these two but to THREE races last fall. Oops!0 -

Nothing wrong with that! I wear the same outfits a lot because I know they'll stay where they're supposed to0 -
If you ever feel like you're not looking good in race pics, check out the Seriously Ugly Race Pics tumblr. I also like to wear hideous clothes, on the assumption that looking ridiculous makes you go faster:
