Feeling comfortable enough to say to others when you are hungry. Sounds crazy but I used to never announce it because I thought everyone would think "of course you are"76

I also now feel confident enough to chow down in front of friends. I kind of ate too much last night, and while my stomach regretted it, I wasn't self-conscious like I would normally be.

Ok, so I understand that the boobs would get smaller. In a way that was a relief. But why do they have to look so awful! There really is no discernible shape to them unless I have a bra on.
Mine are sagging now. I still have 20 more pounds. I hope it doesn't get worse. They don't look to great in a bra either.2 -
The first time I ever had a major weight loss, I lost 70 lbs in 7 months. I went from 250 to 180. The thing no one told me about weight loss is how much of a mind**** it is.
I legitimately became uncomfortable looking at myself in the mirror because I, mentally, just didn't recognize who that "thin" person was, after being fat my entire life. I would find myself diverting my eyes so as not to look at my face. It got easier after a few months, but the extreme difference just really messed with my head.
A couple years later, I had a major life change and ended up gaining all of the weight back. By last March, I was back to 250. And I found it uncomfortable to look into the mirror, because I had become so used to thinner me, that seeing this fat guy again was messing with my head. Now I'm back to 190 and I feel like myself again.
tl;dr: -- The way I viewed myself in my mind and the way I viewed myself in the mirror was really emotionally taxing.22 -
Your child's hugs and their fingers touch behind your back
Running races with or being cheered on by your children
Going to parent night at school and being able to sit at student desk
A lap for your child or dog to sit in
seat belts fit better
shoes are easier to tie
sales people approach you
fitting in a movie seat and restaurant booth18 -

Yes, definitely this.People's reactions will be strange. When I say I have lost 50 pounds their response is always...how did you do that? When I answer exercise and eating less they say...when do you find time for that? Answer...6 to 8 every day before work. Then they say...I could never do that! Never? Really? I don't get it.6 -
So true. A coworker offered me a coconut cookie the other day and I flat out said no. It felt empowering.That it gets easier and easier to say no to food. Someone on here mentioned earlier about the skin on the bottom of the feet looking so much better. I was just telling my friend tonight that my feet look so much better, no lotion added. I told her I learned from MFP that the craters on my feet were from the extra weight, not dryness. Love this site!

Just because you loose a lot of weight and are healthy, doesn't magically make your body issues disappear. if you're built with bigger hips/booty, that doesn't go away just because you get thin. Your boobs will, though!
Still worth it. Health is what's important to me.
Wish my boobs would reduce. Everything else has and now am seriously top heavy!3 -
How empowering it is to say no to junk food and mean it, and not think about it for hours afterward. And all the extra energy that comes with it is just a huge bonus!12

wow. seriously this is for positive... that negativity wasn't necessary. being overweight ( especially obese is a handicap. you try fitting a BIG badonkadonk in a little itty bitty stall.19 -
How many people will offer compliments with a disclaimer at the end, like. "You look great, don't stop now!" Looking good- keep going!" What if I'm done??? What if I am not trying to keep losing? That's a big ego killer....18

With all due respect, as the daughter and niece of longtime wheelchair bound women (advanced MS), you are incorrect in your statement. The only handicapped-related facility that is exclusively for handicapped users (and is thus protected by law) is handicapped parking. Ramps, toilets, elevators, support bars, and so on are available for use by anybody, including the able bodied. They are made available because some handicapped people are not physically able to use the regular facilities or entrances, stairs, etc., but they are not reserved for the exclusive use of disabled people. If the handicap bathroom stall is the only one available, I will use it with no qualms or guilt whatsoever, and I know that my mother and aunt would not begrudge that in the slightest. Now, if there is a disabled lady waiting for a stall, I would certainly leave the handicap stall open for her, but only in the same way as I would encourage an elderly lady to go ahead of me in line. It's common courtesy, not entitlement. I'm sorry, but as one who lives closely with disabled people, I find your attitude disappointing.

How much anxiety I am having about maintaining my goal. I've only seriously lost weight before one other time in my life - like 20 lbs; but I gained that back and then some so this time around I had much more to lose and I only recently reached goal again. However, at 51 I cannot imagine me going through this process again and it's making me crazy.
Clothes have become an issue and I actually think I posted a comment awhile ago when someone requested suggestions on how to deal with adjusting to the new size - I believe I gave some flippant response about "go to a tailor" well I realize it's not that easy. I was going through my closet yesterday and it was a roller coaster #1 how big a difference a couple dress size are #2 there are some cute items I'm going to really miss. Yeah, yeah I get the whole shopping for new clothes, new size - I will definitely do that! And yes I will take many items to be altered by a tailor... but there are going to some items that I'll just need to let go. In the meantime I will wear my black skirt that I can roll the waistband down so it does not fall off every other day and hope no one notices!4 -
I have to say, I have only lost 51lbs since my Journey as begun, I have always been told that I was a great guy and father, but now that I guess I am presentable, I have been asked out alot more or flirted with alot more. I am still searching for my Soulmate.... However it is nice to be noticed again.21

People used to wait for me to finish going up or down the stairs, like there wouldn't be enough room for both of us.11

My belly used to rise up out of the bath water even when the bath was filled to the top, that does not happen anymore!25

Also people who don't comment about your weightloss as it's happening feel they have the right to tell you " it's time to stop now" or "your looking skinny".
You actually start enjoying buying clothes and changing rooms feel bigger.
If there's somewhere that has a reflection your going to check yourself out in it.

I struggle with an irrational fear that if I miss a workout if I'm too tired or had to work late or something like that it will completely undo all the progress I have made and I will slip back into bad habits. the rational part of my brain knows it's nonsense and that sometimes you need an extra rest day, but it's still something that is lurking in the back of my mind and makes me anxious. I have lost over 25% of my starting bodyweight and I'm terrified to fail and go back to where I was...29

-that there will be those who try to discourage you from loosing - saying you've lost enough weight or that you looked better bigger. Don't listen to them, just do you!
-how after eating healthy, eating even just a little junk food will make you feel ill.
-also that eating even just a little bit more than you're alloted portion size will make you feel overfull to the point you think you may throw up
-how good and confident you'll feel from the compliments and number of people hitting on you. I was told that I'm 'sexy' for the first time in my life
-how skipping exercise can actually make you feel depressed/lathargic as your body gets used to the endorphins!
-finally, the amount of down days you'll have and self loathing for a not sticking to your diet/exercise plan. Remember weight loss is a journey so if you do encounter pot holes just ride through them the road will eventually smooth out!18 -
That's it's not "working out" but about proper diet and calorie deficit. Working out is the next but not until you control input.9

Closing in on 50lbs lost out of a total of 125lbs planned;
My tiny car seems less tiny. It dawned on me that my belly doesn't touch the steering wheel anymore, and there's even a few inch gap there now. The seatbelt fits without being pulled all the way to the stop before even attempting to buckle it.
Dropped from a 22 to a 16 in jeans, and am always vaguely started when I do laundry. There's no way I fit into these!! But I do, and they're starting to get loose.
The morning of my wedding social (Manitoba, CA tradition; wedding pre-party held a few months before the main event with bar, dancing, cold cut snacks at 11pm and raffles that you sell tickets to. Used as a fundraiser for the wedding/excuse to dance and party with friends) 2 weeks ago I had to do an emergency clothes shop because not one damned thing in my closet fit anymore. Including the 'skinny' dress I really liked from 10 years ago I was saving until I could wear again.
