Just wanted to add another really helpful seated exercise video. I like this one a little bit better then the other one I posted.

Good morning all, please add me to this group! I am looking for a few ideas to help me stay on course. I'm a 48 year old female (turning 49 in December) looking to be about 50 pounds lighter for my birthday. I currently weigh in at a "delicate" 306 but would like to be in ONEderland (even if it is 199.99999999) by my 50th birthday in 2016. Also, I'm primarily using the app on my phone, so hopefully I can locate the group via my app, too. Also looking for friends to share this journey with.

I'm jumping in, too:). I started in February, with about 85 pounds to lose. I'm down 26 so far. Due to health and family history, I'm doing a fairly low carb eating plan. When I'm at work, and busy, it's fairly easy, but the evenings at home an be tough. Looking forward to sharing successes (and the inevitable tough times).

Welcome welcome welcome!!! To everyone who has joined, we are so happy to have you! Feel free to add me if you haven't already and by all means let us know if you need anything whether it's motivation on those tough days or a cheering section when you achieve an "NSV" (non-scale victory)!

    Loving that bead idea!!! :)

I want to challenge all of you this week! Each day, find a way to tell yourself that you are a wonderful person and worth the effort you're putting into your new you! It's so easy to let thing other people say get us down and yet so hard to bring ourselves back up! We deserve this and we ARE wonderful human beings!

    :)

Hello everyone! I'm not super active on the boards and I know I'm a little late, but I'd love to join the group! This seems like a great thread, and everyone's super supportive :) I'm looking to lose around 120lbs by my 30th birthday (October 2016). My short term goals are: to be able to jog the entire time through a 5k and to complete the Robo Mud Run held in St. Cloud, FL in November. Add me if you'd like, I'd love to have the extra push and I'll support you all as much as I can in return! :)

Wow, what a great thread! I'm back on MFP after losing some weight and then gaining it back plus more. My new goal is to lose between 85-100 lbs. I've lost ~7 lbs so far. This time around I'm making changes that are sustainable and that I can take with me for the rest of my life. Feel free to add me!

@MischelM - I am journaling my weight loss in my planner. I plan my meals and exercise for each day and also list my daily goals in the planner portion. There are note pages in the back. I am using those to keep track of monthly weight loss goals, miscellaneous goals (like fitness milestones or reaching certain clothing sizes) and measurements. I'm also keeping track of new recipes I try - the name, where I found it (which cookbook or website) and then rating it. I think it will be fun to look back at it as time goes on.

One of the things that surprised me was how quickly I found not only goals and rewards for pounds loss, but goals I want to meet that focus more on activities and things I've wished for. .
I love that idea! So much better than only looking for a certain number on the scale!

Hmmm... didn't think about keeping new recipes in my journal. That's a GREAT idea! Thanks!

@bcedl1982 I thought so too! And the more of these type goals I think of the more others come to me. Today I saw this girl wearing the cutest off the shoulder shirt and thought, "I'd love to be able to wear that!" so into the journal it went! Same thing when one of my friends not only walked up the stairs at work, but when I ran into her at the top she was like "Oh I'm late!" and JOGGED the long halls to get where she needed to be! :::sigh:: just walking up the stairs requires a rest so I can catch my breath! Yep, into the journal THAT went too! LOL

I needed to lose 165 pounds to start with: SW 295, CW 213, GW 130 I'm almost to two major goals: losing 100 pounds ( about 20 to go) and being in "onederland". I started my journey August 2014. I practice a low carb ( 30 -45) a day, don't worry about the fat way of eating. I average walking about 1 mile a day. The last couple of weeks I've gotten some good workouts in push mowing. Lol. Love to read others stories they provide so much motivation.

    Welcome new members

    @shirayne I think that's a great idea.

NSV: (I guess it's a "victory") I suffer from depression. I've struggled with it for years now. I have my days when it takes everything I have to even open my eyes and get up. I have 0 friends and nobody that I can talk to other then my family and honestly I don't open up to them. Anyway last night was a really really bad night. I cried for at least 3 hours straight. I went for a walk to clear my head and came home and cried some more. Honestly it sucked but that's my life.. But this morning although I'm still not "me" I realized last night when I was at my low when I would normally turn to food I didn't. I guess that's a plus side of my horrible night.

Big Welcome to all the new people!

I have a lot of catching up to do! Last night I got lazy and did not do my workout. I haven't been sleeping well and my knees are bothering me. Last night I slept better and I have my new chair workouts that I am going to use the next few days to give my knees a break.

Today is my 50th day logging in. I can honestly say that I have never stuck to something weight loss related this long. I think it is in part to the wonderful people here. Especially in this group. You are all so wonderful and helpful! So a big thank you too all of you!

@want2behappy31 that is a great NSV! I hope though that you start to feel better and know that you do have friends right here. Feel free to send me a Message about anything. Even if it isn't weight loss stuff.

One of my mini goals is to be comfortable enough in my own skin to start wearing fun skirts again. I am getting there slowly but surely. Hopefully by the end of summer I will feel good enough in my own skin to do this!

@want2behappy31: Hippychick is right... you have friends here. I can't imagine battling depression on top of having to lose weight. When you are having a bad night, feel free to reach out to me. I am not a counselor but I still have wide shoulders (although hopefully not for long lol) and I can certainly empathize and try to help you through the tough spots.

I thank each and every one of you here for your dedication and motivation!

We are worth this, this is our time, we WILL achieve success!

I am thrilled to report that I finally lost my first 20 lbs! I still have a long road ahead, but I'll just start working on my next 20.
One of my mini goals is to be able to go hiking with my family this summer on our vacation. We're staying in a little cabin near Zion's national park and we're planning to do a lot of hiking/exploring. Last time I went hiking, I was dragging behind everyone, making them all wait for me. I do not want to be that person this time!!!!

Got a walk in tonight. Had to dig out my winter hat and gloves, since spring is a big tease here in the midwest! Wasn't able to go too far, but it felt good!

Congrats to @Hippychick5983 on 50 days of logging in and to @melkithall on 20 pounds gone!

Thanks to everyone for posting and helping me to realize that I'm not alone on my journey! :)

@ Shirayne: I accept and love this challenge for the week! One of the major things im doing in my health journey is addressing the emotional aspects and self-acceptance. Here is a link of a talk that starting me on a major healing journey from self-hatred/self-destruction. I moved onto her books and the freedom from requiring self perfection as helped me see milestones I have only dreamed about. I share the information in hopes, her message will touch someone else. http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_listening_to_shame

@melkithall Congrats on losing the first 20. To me that's always the hardest.

Thanks so much for all of your kind words ladies.

I've been walking alone at night for the past 2 nights & I really enjoy it. It really gives me time alone, no kids no husband.. just me and my music. Also yesterday was the 1st day since having my FitBit that I've reached every goal on it. I was really excited about that.

    How did everybody do yesterday?

Returned to a gym last night for the first time in about 15 years. I'm very excited to have won a 3 month membership to the gym by my house. I even got my husband to come with me.

I have missed it- and have so many limitations now with my disability- but I am excited to do what I can. Starting VERY slowly lol

Very excited for everyone in this thread- great on scale and non scale victories!

I love to hear all the healthy choices everyone is making.

I have a great feeling that we are all together on the right track. It's almost like we should have a team name or something lol

That's a HUGE victory! I'd take that. I'm lucky enough I haven't had a really bad day yet, but I'm praying when I do I have that strength! Awesome want2behappy31!

Congrats on the return to the gym. It really can be inspiring when you find yourself around all that cool equipment. And I agree. It does feel like we need a team name. Like we were all meant to find each other in this time and place to be successful together! We may have started something here! LOL
