What nobody tells you about losing weight

Nobody told me that my facial hair would get darker and more dense, makes sense as the skin is no longer stretched the follicles are closer to each other, my facial hair now seems black instead of brown!10

I've lost 26lbs out of 115 needed to loose. I was surprised that by 12lbs I could feel the difference in my health already, now I can see it too.
It's only a small amount yet but it feels great.
It's not a small amount it's almost a quarter of the total amount you want to lose! That's major progress!14 -

What nobody told me about major weight loss:
you don't loose enough wieght..i lost 8 pant sizes but only 40 lbs ugh
You get stuck between sizes double ugh
People are nicer and listen to you when you talk. Which makes you feel worse about being big before.
You don't want be compared to other overwieght people your skinny friends know. Trible ugh
Eating healthy food for one person is enough.
Mother of 4, 37yrs old, married for 18yrs and have 60lbs to loose. Mfp is a life changer.7 -

-Some "friends" get weirdly competitive or passive aggressive

-I really packed on weight after hurting my sciatic nerve at work. Taking off the weight has been a miracle cure. That physical therapist wasn't kidding when she told me losing weight would make it better.
-Lying in bed and running your hands over your hipbones and ribs is really great
THIS.
Not to mention - spouse/significant other may get insecure or start to play saboteur. I don't mind if my S/O is scarfing down a triple cheese by-pass pizza and I don't get tempted most days (I'm only human!), but to keep asking me to eat, keep offering unhealthy calorific foods on an almost daily basis...lets just say we had 'the talk' and that situation resolved, thankfully.
Others:
- How you start to feel your bones when sitting/lying and see it in places you never thought you would ONE DAY all of a sudden.
- How easy it is for what was a health reason fester into an compulsive obsessive calorie/<insert method> control. (I went through such a phase, the realised if it kept continuing I'm on the dead end path to an eating disorder, and threw away my calorie counting centric behaviour for a more 'whole, natural foods 70% of the time' behaviour)
- How the scale is a massive lie, use as an ego boost sometimes, but not as a rule.
- I HAVE to second the passive-aggressive 'friends' and even 'family'. I had someone I love not only NOT celebrate my weight loss, but viewed it as a threat, tried to sabotage me by triggering what they knew would result in a possible eating binge on unhealthy foods, and then launched into a starvation diet to try to 'best' my weight loss. Don't really care. I'm in it for the health, not the heat.
- How good being fit and healthy feels
- How you start to realise how much change happened in such a short span of time to you and your environment
- How you start getting chatted up and given the benefit of a doubt for alot of things, and you realise how shallow people and society can be.

You can wear cool necklaces that don't get lost in your humongous boobs any longer.16

That skin doesn't shrink up in your 40s like it did in the 20s (then again in my 20s I would only need to occasionally get 20 pounds in check vs. the 80 I started with/down 50.
Bending over gets so much easier when stomach fat isn't in the way! Toenails, shoe laces/buckles... so much easier!
That some people, even those you least suspect, won't be supportive.
Finally not self conscious when getting a treat like a frozen yogurt! I used to be embarrassed thinking everyone was looking at me assuming I ate like a pig. Bad foods was never my issue; portions was.
How afraid I am that I'll slip back to that size; and some days how I feel like I might as well. It can be an emotional roller coaster.
Stairs are no longer to be avoided because I don't get out of breath after one flight.14 -
Oh, and how much energy I have, even compared to thinner people who don't exercise much. They are tired all of the time. Maybe it's their diet, maybe it's lack of exercise, but I get 7-8 hours per night and feel good all day now.7

I agree with this! Eating out, in general, is not so much of an anxiety filled event. 75 pounds ago, I always felt judged, whether I was or not.
Also, a new one for me... recently I've noticed that although I've lost weight in my boobs, they actually look bigger because there is definition from having a smaller waist. It isn't just one big blob anymore.9 -
You realize you dont need to get into your vehicle rear first. Just slide in and sit down. No need to fit yourself behind the wheel.14

I was thrilled to realize how much more energy I'd have when back at a lower weight. I was never very heavy, just ten pounds into the "overweight" category, but the lighter I got the more energy I had. I bound up and down the stairs all day now, and I no longer pile things on the stairs to take up or down all at once. Instead, I have the energy to just put things away right away!4

Wow! Did you guys change what you are as well or just ate less?3 -
I realized my pants are all too long.
Losing inches off the thighs means the material doesn't have so much to stretch across any more.4 -
jenniferinfl wrote: »How annoying it actually is to go down a few sizes. I hate buying boring work clothes, but now my work clothes are huge on me. I'm wearing a belt or the pants fall right off. I'm trying to make them last as long as possible so I don't waste a bunch of money. I have one pair in the correct size.
The other thing is that I've been in plus size for a few years now, which pretty much sucks, but I finally discovered a Torrid store. Unfortunately, I'm already down to a 1x there, but I'm afraid there's going to be a huge gap between their size 1X and Hot Topics XL where I'm going to be stuck in boring clothes again. The Hot Topic XL looks quite a bit smaller than the Torrid 0X.
The other thing is that I HATE wasting money. I know that for my own psychological well-being I should get rid of the things that no longer fit instead of holding onto them in the event I grow back into them. But, it really bothers me. It shouldn't, but it does. I thought I would feel happier about it. Kinda odd..
@jenniferinfl Yes, Torrid 0 is a lot bigger than a regular XL> Torrid runs big in general, usually I wear a 14 in normal stores but Torrid's 12/x0 falls off me! So frustrating because I'm in between plus stores and regular stores now. They also run a lot of clearance sales "buy one clearance get the next 1/2 off" to save some money on work clothes. Just got a new flowy skirt and dress for under $50.
If you have a Clothes Mentor by you they always have great work clothes, name brand for a lot less. It is kind of like a thrift store but everything has been filtered through.1 -

I can't eat empty carbs any more without taking a nap afterwards! I'm 1/4 of the way to my goal, but now that I eat healthy out of habit, if I have to eat something fried (I was working the snack bar at little league and forgot to bring food) It just kills me! I would rather be hungry4

When you look in the mirror and still see that fat person .. Mind tricks11

I learned loosing weight does not necessarily equal having confidence to flirt with women.
