@JimCrackinDandy I'm in total agreement with @Wendy1Fl ... trail running is a blast. I love running twisty windy trippy mountain trails the best... if only I didn't have to drive 30 minutes to get to one I'd be on it every day.
And @jennontheroad you may find that trail running (a nice soft park trail, not too many trippy things sticking up) makes it easier in the early going *and* more fun / shady / cooler / etc.0 -
I'm back running again after a two year break. So have set myself a comfortable first target this month. I'm also new to the group do looking forward to reading everyone's posts

Finally back from So. Carolina and got a nice run in outside before it started pouring! Yes, we finally got a good rain. Certainly not enough to stave off the drought but every little bit helps!
I am not completely caught up on everything and everyone but have to say I loved the bug ingestion comments. I have always just assumed they were a tiny bit more protein and I can always use a bit more protein in my diet! I chew gum when I run and hate it though when the get stuck in it - then I have to spit it out because it is disgusting!

@elise4270 It was a long road to becoming Skip's mom so I cherish all the time I spend with her. I can't believe you are old enough to have 20 year twins
@ddmom0811 I forgot to say earlier, yes mine has a HRM her's does not
Here's my 4 legged baby. I was outside today putting salt in the pool and she was going crazy, she loves to swim and will jump in if you so much as act like you are going in.
My favorite picture, she's about 4 months here.

4.5 today. My garmin says my recovery time is 59 hours. I might want to think about that...
24.41/75
An "easy" 4.62. Gawd awful humid. Walked much of it. Broke a sweat just getting out of the car.
29.03/75
I honestly never thought I'd make the 75.. But, I sure enjoy pushing a little harder. I ran hard downhill (easy on the piriformis) and was elated to see my pace at 7.35. Walked up hill, kills the angry butt muscle.

Gave up on the great outdoors today, and ended up running on the treadmill. After some cute girls jumped on the adjacent treadmills, instead of sticking to my easy run pace, I couldn't resist the urge to turn up the speed and turn my run into a fast tempo run. I can definitely feel my right leg getting sore right now as punishment.
I think my holding pattern is just going to be a 30 mile/week maintenance plan of 4-Tue, 5-Wed, 4-Thu, 5-Sat, 12-Sun, with some speedwork as part of the Wednesday & Saturday runs.
5/2 - 2 miles
5/3 - 26.2 miles (3:44 total time, 8:33 pace)
5/7 - 6 miles
5/9 - 4 miles
5/10 - 12 miles
5/12 - 4 miles
5/13 - 5 miles
5/14 - 4 miles
Total: 63 miles
Goal: 100 miles
Remaining: 37 miles0 -
03/05 - 5.04km
13/05 - 6.12km
Sick kids last week and yesterday we had flooding!! Half the city was shut down, multiple streets closed (including the main one to our house!!) luckily I was able to go the back way to get the boys from school. The husband was trapped in his car for an hour on the motorway, didn't move an inch! Took another 2 hours to get home....normally a 20min max drive. My usual track will be a bog and the tide is still really high so not able to run on some parts!!
More rain today (not much thankfully) and possibly more tomorrow With luck it will be dry enough to go out on Sunday!!

EEEKS- it's halfway through the month and I'm not halfway done with goal.
Biking this weekend both days - unless it rains and then I can run instead! Running Monday morning and then headed to NYC for daughter's graduation! Will be up there a week in the city and then Long Island to visit some family on the weekend. Can't wait to run up there - Central Park, Hudson, whereever else daughter takes me to runI Not sure about all the sweaty clothes. At home, I just wash my running/biking stuff every day. I don't own enough running clothes for a week without washing - plus, ewww. It's always nice to arrive at family's house and after the hugs ask "can I wash my workout clothes?" Then again, I probably should just buy some fancier running clothes to run in the city!
Love the dog pictures too!
@skippygirlsmom - that puppy picture is adorable!
@wendy1f1 - puppy looks so sweet.
@sonicdeathMonkey80 - 1000 miles - we're not even 5 months done! WTG!
@ohhim- lol on treadmill.
@wendytrelease - welcome! it's a great group!0 -

skippygirlsmom wrote: »@stoshew71 I was just thinking how you do 10 mile runs all the time now and once upon a time that was your long run - how awesome. How was the CR route this morning? I'm so not trained for the hill.
I know. A lot happens in just a year when you stick with something consistently.
It's building up the mileage slowly and don't let down once you get there.
I actually had a good time with the course. I PRed it from when I actually raced it last year by over 2 minutes and I wasn't breathing hard (except for Mountainview). Can't wait to do it for real next Monday on Memorial Day. The hill on Mountainwood is steep but short. Then it's pretty much down hill after that which is what I love about it. I done so much hill work and running Madkin and Weeden mountains on RSA that it's really no big deal to me. Whisky Hill in Lynchburg and the one on the Knoxville Half course are probably worse for me because they are longer despite them not being as steep.
By the way, HTC and Fleetfeet are sponsoring CRR preview runs this Saturday morning. I am taking Jennifer because her group is doing it.

Did a nice easy 5 last night in the dark. I almost didn't go out at all , so I'm glad I managed to drag my butt out the door. Thinking my long run this weekend may be the local 10 mile trail race, so I'm excited for that.
16.something/75 miles
And, since we're sharing, allow me to introduce my noble hound:
She's still not great at the whole walking on a leash thing, but I can't wait to have a running buddy.0 -
I wish I would have seen this sooner, but better late than never. I had already set a challenge for myself to "Run 10k a day in May" and also planned to complete my first 200 mile month. So far I'm on track. This also includes my first ever win, place, or show in a running event when I won my age group in a small 15k trail race last Saturday.

I love the doggie pictures!!!
@stoshew71 we are running in a 5K at Bailey Cove somewhere tomorrow morning otherwise we'd join you all. Skip is concerned about Mountainview I told her to walk it if she needed to. I hate they take pictures there, the one place that is walked by so many.
@ddmom0811 I laughed at you wondering where to wash your clothes. I hate to admit it but I basically wear the same thing for days before it gets to the wash. I figured I'm alone and who cares if I smell. I just hang them over the door to dry. I also figure if someone grabs me they will drop me off at the next corner because I stink!
@bob108819 welcome0
