2nd day without eating meat

what's up everyone thought I would try something new and cut out meat on the weekdays only allowing myself to eat it on my two days off work. Hoping to improve my strength with weight training and get leaner. My midsection fat is frustrating me. So I will give an update on my results at s later date. Also is anyone else who weight trains doing this chime in

Are you supplementing that loss of protein with a non-meat form of protein?0

I tried that last year and failed miserably, even supplementing my protein intake from plant and other sources. I guess some people can do it but I fell flat after about 4 months. Good luck to you.0

I gave up meat in early April and am enjoying it. I was vegetarian for 4 years as a teen and now am back. Hopefully you already know, but make sure you're eating meat substitutes, eggs, whey/pea/whatever protein powder if needed, pulses and grains, tofu, etc.0

i'm trying just the opposite as you...i eat MORE meat due to my weight training. seems to be working ok.

that sound great! i've been vegetarian for four years now and a vegan for 6 months. protein is NOT A PROBLEM FOR VEGETARIANS. everything has proteins, veggetables, fruits everything. I'm perfectly healthy and strong, cutting dairy and meat out of my diet is the best desicion ive ever made0

Still eating eggs.. Broccoli peas spinach and I'm waiting on some organic plant based whey to arrive in the mail @hollydubs85

I tried doing that, didn't have a problem getting enough protein, but I craved the meat. It didn't work so well. I have a decent balance now.
Also I kept eating things like falafel which are fried.0 -

What does not eating meat have to do with belly fat? I'm confused OP.
Either way, just make sure you are getting enough protein (1gram per lb of LBM).0 -
Didn't mean to say "Whey" plant based protein.. It's just plant based protein powder since whey derives from dairy0

Well, if yesterday's diary logging is any indication of your permanent diet changes, you're going to need a lot more than 37 grams of protein.0 -

Haha, nice. Yeah, I love meat. I dunno. You can of course do whatever you like. I ate vegetarian for about a year for some silly reason or other, but it didn’t do much for me.
If your concern is belly fat, just lift all the weights, and maybe do a recomp - I don’t see why your source of protein would make any difference…

I was a vegetarian for 7 years and never had a problem getting my protein in. When I became vegan though... I struggled every day to get my calories in. But I LOVE CHEESE, so veganism only lasted a few months.0

Agreed. Meat isn't bad for you and nixing it with your goals is just going to make it that much harder. The only real reason to cut meat is if you have a moral hang up about eating it.0 -

This seems kinda counter productive. Meat is likely not what is causing your midsection to not be flat. Lean meat like chicken breast is excellent for building muscle while losing fat. If you want to cut something try cutting refined sugar items like white bread, cakes, cookies, candy, or crackers. I don't know anyone who recommends cutting out all meat to achieve a more muscular physique.0

I have fat on more than my midsection .. I was just pointing that out as my most hated problem area for me because I'm making getting defined In my chest and arms. I'm well aware that you can't spot reduce.. Overall fat loss is the goal the abs will show eventually @ASKyle :-)0

I have given up meat recently and I have loved how I have felt and the weight has really been dropping off me. I have been focused on a plant based diet.0

I know I wasn't feeling well yesterday so I didn't workout or eat much I know how much protein I need daily thanks for the comments0 -

Haven't eaten meat in years and no protein deficiency here so everybody can calm their tits. Eating less animal protein is not a bad thing. If you choose to do something different it's all good but it sounds like this person was looking for people who were doing the same thing not people to tell him why it's dumb?
I don't do anything incredibly intensive with weights but I have no problem getting enough protein for the amount of strength training I do. I strongly recommend Vega for a hit of plant based protein (plus a whole range of other nutrients.) in the morning or after a workout. Their whole line is pretty decent but Vega One is my jam. (I don't work for them or anything just a satisfied customer!) Best of luck to you.-1 -

But what does cutting out meat have to do with losing fat?
Best way to lose fat is to run a small deficit (15ish% off of TDEE), get adequate protein (0.8-1.0 grams per lb of LBM, or 0.7-0.8 grams per lb of goal body weight), and take part in a progressive strength training program. Missing any of these key points then a larger % of your weight loss will come from lean muscle than if you incorporated them.0
