@Stoshew71 love the videos! I have the itchies when I run. So embarrassing to round a corner and be itching.

@31flavors I set my goal to push myself. I won't make my goal. Its not set in stone. Reevaluate and refocus. No worries!

@SonicDeathMonkey80 first of all, I think that is so cool of you to be a pacer. I didn't know any such thing existed in marathons; what a great way to help others! I am afraid that if I do my first half marathon this October, a full may be on the not too distant horizon...SOMEBODY STOP ME! PLEASE!! About my PR question, my current 12k race pace was 9:23 per mile, I am 38 and weigh 147 lbs. I just started running last December, but was not able to do it with any consistency until March 2015. I am currently injury free, but was taken out for 2 years prior to December with a neck problem. I feel good now. My mileage history goes as follows: Dec: 13.5; Jan: 27.46; Feb: 19.4; Mar: 40.49; Apr: 84.17. I tend to stick to dirt trail or grass when I'm running, so when I did my pavement 12k it was amazing how much faster I went than my typical training pace of 10:00 - 10:30 avg. per mile. Is this enough info? Anything else you need to know to give an opinion? I'd really like to run that same 12k next May with 8:00 miles instead of 9:23. Does this sound like a realistic goal or am I just shooting for the moon here? I chronically set goals too high in all areas of my life, LOL.

I think it is on the lower end of the spectrum of realistic, but would take a lot of consistent work to achieve. I would encourage you to train for smaller goals between now and then. To put your 12k goal in perspective, this is what you'd be running in other distances. Just ignore the marathon one for now.

I didn't have time to report back here, but I sure took the time to run! I passed the 25 miles mark for May on yesterday's run, crushing my 23 miles objective. I guess I'll see you all next month with a higher goal!

Or.... you could just stick around and keep on running...

    Of course I will!

Squeezed in a short run this afternoon before a long painful swim workout, and meeting friends to ride to the game tonight. Still, glad I got in a handful of miles, as the 3.5 gets my total back to an even number (not that there is anything wrong with non-round racing distances... just that I tend to use plans that stick with exact mileage numbers).

Still in running limbo as my next (known definite) race is in November. Noticed my swim/bike mileage isn't too far off from most ironman plans, so may consider joining a friend to do IM Tahoe in September for my Birthday. Still, I wasn't planning to do one until next fall, and would rather start with a flatter 112 mile bike ride for my first.

    5/2 - 2 miles
    5/3 - 26.2 miles (3:44 total time, 8:33 pace)
    5/7 - 6 miles
    5/9 - 4 miles
    5/10 - 12 miles
    5/12 - 4 miles
    5/13 - 5 miles
    5/14 - 4 miles
    5/15 - 3 miles
    5/16 - 5 miles
    5/18 - 12 miles
    5/19 - 7.3 miles
    5/20 - 3.5 miles

    Total: 94 miles
    Goal: 100 miles
    Remaining: 6 miles

@ohhim oof, IMTahoe is a heck of a way to kick off your 140.6 career. I say do it but doesn't Tahoe sell out really fast? I'd think it would be full by now.
IM Louisville is a rolling bike course in October, then there's Challenge Cedar Point, which I'm doing. You could always do Wisconsin or heck, even Chattanooga would be flatter than Tahoe. Of course, none of those are really destination races the way Tahoe is...

@shanaber - My kids are still elementary school age, but I plan on pushing the travel abroad thing with them… mostly so I can meet up with them, lol!
@emmy15rocks - I use mapmyrun app on my iPhone. I love it, and the miles & calories automatically transfer to MFP. While you are running you can listen to your music and each mile it tells you your pace (or not, you decide) Best of all, it is free.
@Honunui -I don't think that Greece would compare to Hawaii in that department. I lived in Kailua on Oahu for a couple of years and did some snorkeling there (amazing…my first time snorkeling and it ruined me :-). I remember I was just exercise swimming at the beach once and I saw a giant sea turtle under me. I love how clear those waters are.
@briebee7 - two months is a nice break! I love the north of Italy but we traveled more in the south. We planned to start in the south and work our way north, but my husband ended up getting transferred earlier than expected so we missed out a lot on the north… more reason to go back :-)
    @LoneWolf -hilarious! 'I like turtles!'

5/21 - 5 miles, treadmill (Trek class, like spin only running instead of a bike)

@SBRRepeat Oddly enough both Louisville & Chattanooga were sold out/Limited (i.e. $1400), but Tahoe was available. Elevation profile isn't great for a first, but I'll think more about it this week as I'll need to start ramping up the swimming weekly mileage soon.

    Current total: 156.7 miles
    Remaining: 43.3 miles

200 mile goal will be shattered this month with mileage ramp up and back-to-back races on Memorial Day.

@CodeMonkey78 Are you doing both the 5K and 10K? Or is there another race going on after CRR?

Both the 10k and the 5k.

I did them both last year, but at least this time it will not be three days after oral surgery!

What you are not running the 1 mile fun run after the 5K?

I'd love to, but my legs will be fried after both races

@CodeMonkey78 @skippygirlsmom We should meet before hand for a photo-op.

In front of the VBC? Or in front of the fountain by the Embassy?

    @CodeMonkey78 @skippygirlsmom

I am thinking on the big steps at the big sign of the VBC at 6:30.

    I'll be there.

Speed bump! LOL I'm afraid to even go over there and drive up it. When you look online and ALL the pictures are of people walking up it you know it's a biggin' I told Skip don't kill yourself on the hill walk if you need to, she looked at me like a cursed in church..again.

LOL! I've actually heard about some of the elites speedwalking the climb so they can hit the afterburners on the downhill half of the race.. I just shorten my stride, increase the frequency, and use as little energy as possible.
