I had egg whites with cheese and toast for breakfast, shredded chicken on whole wheat toast with a tiny bit of bbq sauce and I had a hot dog with ketchup for a snack. Not sure on dinner yet.
you are doing great keep it up.
Planning helps me a lot...most of the time i sit down in the evening and take 5 minutes to pre-log and plan the next day.
That way i know how much calories i get, and only have to tweak the right amounts when i weigh everything out
Maybe this is something you would like. dont have to of course
It is something i feel comfortable with

Weight training does not burn anywhere near as many calories as you think it does. Just saying.
I agree. Besides, weight lifting calories are too difficult to determine and normally need to be included in one's activity level rather than counted as extra exercise calories.
How does one who is 4 fot 10 lose on 1700 calories? It does not seem possible due to height, even with age.0 -
Thanks the Owl house. I cant believe im gonna lose weight on what I love. Im so excited.0

Egg whites and cheese on toast is my go to breakfast ..so quick and filling ..I use a laughing cow light triangle which makes it all creamy and then sprinkle about 5g grated mature cheddar on the top and melt it ...I also add mushrooms and sometimes spinach or asparagus ...loads of fresh black pepper on top ...omnomnom
(I don't tolerate yolks well but the whole egg is also good)
You've got this0 -
I love eggs cheese and wheat toast. Its the only way ill eat eggs.0

I make fritata's they are yummie too. And you have breakfast for some days
Just do some different kinda of (fresh) cooked veggies and cut them small.
I like shredded zucchini, mushrooms cauliflower, broccoli etc
Just cut them small.
Take some eggs ( about 4 if you do 4 days) and mix them, add the veggies and i add lots of (fresh) herbs and spices. Just what you like.
Some people add cheese ( i dont to much salt for me) and salt
Add the veggies to the eggs and do them in a oven dish or in a pan and make a big omelet. Turn it over ( i use a plate to do that, so i carefully put it on the plate. Cover with the pan and flip it!)
And do the other side
Now you have a big veggie, healthy omelet. I have 4 days of breakfast there. In the morning i take 1/4 of it and some yogurt and fresh fruits..yummieeee0 -
I was making my egg whites and cheese in a Flatout multigrain wrap this morning and thought of this thread. Hope your new way of eating is still going well Kristin!0

Its is. Thank you very much. We had burger king last night. And I felt horrible about it. But then i remembered, Its not what you eat its how much you eat.0

Everyone else was having pizza for dinner or boxed potatoes and noodles and I was eating chicken breast and veggies every night. It seemed like way too much to give up. But everyone said I had to.
expectation management should be on your list of things to work on- not just the excess ranch dressing issue you got going on.0 -

I would recommend going half first and weaning down... or just eating smaller portions of what you normally eat for your body to get used to it. Otherwise you'll be starving and not be able to maintain that big of a change.0

Jorocka. I know. 15lbs is alot of weight looking back on it.0

Yes, it's definitely about how much you eat. And don't feel horrible! You are making some major changes in your life. Changing how much you eat and are used to eating is no small feat. Every day you wake up is a new day to make better choices. A Whopper Jr. with no mayo and a small fry can definitely be worked into your daily calorie budget.
But don't feel horrible or beat yourself up. It could be self defeating. You're trying and doing so well! Keep it up!

aippolito1. Im on day 3 and have been doing great. Im not hungry. More thirsty then anything and I think im on the right track.0

You have got this!! Feel free to add me to your friend's list. I do agree that 1200 maybe too low. Definitely look at some other calorie calculators or talk to your doctor. Watch your carbs and increase your protein. Everyone is different; see what works best for you.0

I went up to about 1500-1700 cals now. And we'll see how that works out. I went from 185 to 183 this morning. So its working. Im not a healthy eater. You wont see me pick up veggies all the time. But i did add them to my dinner.0
-
1500-1700 is much more sustainable from 4k, you don't want to put your body/metabolism in starvation mode.
I saw earlier you love ranch - my hubby is a BIG mayo lover - I slimmed down his mayo since January with 1/2 plain greek yogurt & mayo - he hasn't noticed the difference...except he's now 50 pounds lighter. Maybe try the same 1/2 & 1/2, if you're stuggling with lessing the cal load. Keep going strong, we all cycle thru what works for us. I am constantly raising & lowering my intake - it's all about finding a balance....and not giving up. Good Luck0 -
Thank you nladopoulos.0

Hi Kristin, 5 pages in, so there probably isn't too much I can add at this point, but I just wanted to mention that you shouldn't feel guilty for feeding your family healthier meals. Your son will thank you later when he is a healthy weight with healthy eating habits. You are doing your family a service, not a disservice for improving nutrition. Everything in moderation, yes, but getting the proper nutrition at the same time.0

Indeed
Start introducing it slowly it will be fun too.
Make one night a big stir fry with fresh vegetables and meat spices and herbs you like
( with or without some rice) Make enough and you have meals for two evenings.....freeze one batch or eat two days the same meal.
And nothing wrong to get them used to it with some ketchup or other sauce
I like curry kinda sauces made with curry powder and ( fresh) garlic and pepper.
Start using your crock pot and do the same thing veggies meat and spices its yummie. And easy on you too
You totally got this!

op, you can do this. just one day at a time0 -
[quote=Hey, with the ranch dressing - see if your stores have Bolthouse Farms Yogurt dressings. I usually hate 'diet' dressings, but I have found these to be SO GOOD. They have a 'Classic Ranch' and a 'Black Pepper Ranch' that are delicious. Here are the nutritional stats on the Classic Ranch: 45 calories for TWO tablespoons (yay!); 3 grams fat (0.5 gram is saturated fat); 5 mg cholesterol; 280 mg sodium; 3 grams carbs; 2 grams sugar.
I am also pretty addicted to their Caramelized Sweet Onion and Mango Chipotle flavors -- these things are making salads very yummy

YES!! Bolthouse is so awesome!! I can't eat eggs, which are a main ingredient in most creamy dressings & Bolthouse has been a lifesaver! Plus they taste really, really good.0 -

And if they don't like something cooked one way, they might like it another. For example, my kids wouldn't touch boiled brussels sprouts, but they love them caramelized in the oven with a bit of oil and lots of salt. My husband hated everything growing up, but it turns out it was just because his parents were horrible cooks, everything was either undercooked or overcooked, or just disgusting0 -

Skinnykitchen has a recipe for homemade ranch dressing with 1 packet dry Hidden Valley ranch, 1 3/4 cup buttermilk and 1/2 cup Hellmann's Light Mayonnaise and it is only 30 calories for 2 tablespoons. Maybe worth a try?0
