@_nikkiwolf_ 15°? Oh I'm so jealous! And rain to boot! I'm glad not everyone is sizzling out there!

@shanaber and anyone else interested- we will be losing one chemist out of 3 of us. There are 4, but ya know, the pet is safe. I'm not the pet. But I the only female. Maybe that'll save me. And I'm not the highest paid, and I'm not a pain in the rear employee. I like my job. I want to stay, but if I lose my job, after just buying a house, I'm moving to wherever @_nikkiwolf_ is, where its 15c!

Got back home this evening and found a slew of encouragement from ya'all! ( @shanaber @7lenny7 @skippygirlsmom @RunTimer @melaniefave41 @ddmom0811 ) :o Oh how I love you guys! As you all experienced, by reading everyone's posts, today was Hot and Humid! The race was a tough one. I hoped for a better time, but ran slower than I usually do even with the course being flatter than a pancake! 13.05 min/mile = 2 hours 43 minutes. I praise the LORD for causing me to make it over that finish line though.

@unrelentingminx - great going on your longest run! Keep it up!
@Ohhim - so glad your knees feel better with just one day rest. You surely "kneed" them with all you that running you do and all you have planned to do in the future!
@5BeautifulDays - Welcome! You are surely off to a great start!
@kristinegift - You sure gave that KT tape a workout today! It didn't last, but you did! WTG Sweetie!
@Pandora_and_her_box - Nice new longest run- 15.44miles! Great job!
@WhatMeRunning - You are really pushing out those miles again this month! An inspiration!!!
@melaniefave41 - lovely trail photos. Those 2 Boy Scouts did a great job.
@Elise4270 - I've missed out a few times this summer on cooler morning runs and feel the same as you did. Maybe we should get the "Nuisance on Wheels" alarm clock that jumps off your nightstand and starts whizzing around the room and making noise like a cross between R2D2 and a deranged Zhu Zhu Pet? :s
    Added the 13.1miles for today

@JimCrackinDandy hey way to go on the HM! Yes, I do need an alarm like that! I don't know how anyone get up aen runs. I'm wired after a run, so early should be best for me. I just have a hard time waking up. And since in have to be in at 6, there's no time, unless I'm brave enough to run in the dark. Which, I'm not. I don't like swimming in water I can't see in either. Creeps me out.

For your lactic threshold, I did see one test that I think may have some merit. I can't find it now but I believe it was something along the lines of increasing your pace (and therefore your HR) from an easy pace to the point where you can only get out 2 to 4 words before taking another breath. In practice, it's the pace you can maintain in a race until the end. Between that test and my experience in races, I find my LT to be 166 to 168. I hope through more miles, this number will increase.

Lactic Threshold technically is the pace you run at which lactate begins to accumulate in your blood at an exponential rate (it no longer steady states). In practice it's the pace you can race and sustain for 1 hour. So if you can race a 10 miler in 1 hour then 6:00 pace is your LT. If you can race a 10K in an hour, then 9:39 is your LT pace.

My long run will be on Wednesday. Praying for rain the night before so it might be a little cooler than today. I am going to leave while it's still dark. Need to start practicing getting up early anyway - just 2 weeks left of summer break.

@JimCrackinDandy - awesome job with HM! My goal on my first HM in October will be "just finish"!

exercise.pngThis challenge is doing exactly what I'd hoped it would do... keeping me running through the hot, humid days of summer. I normally start out really well in the early spring as I'm anxious to get outside from running on the treadmill during the winter; but I often fizzle as summer kicks in with the heat and humidity (not very inviting in the evenings when I'd rather walk) but I'm managing to run 3-4 nights during the week and getting out early in the AM on weekends. Oddly, I'm already looking forward to the August challenge - hint hint stoshew71 Stan!

7/2 - 5 miles on a perfect morning for a run in DSM...you all should be jealous!

7/4 - 7 miles, visiting in-laws, partial "trail run" through road construction

7/6 - 3.1 miles; planned for 5 but got completely washed out by huge rain
7/7 - seem to have got a summer cold...slept in, no run
7/8 - getting worse...ugh! May be a sinus infection. Nothing worse than being sick in the summer!
    7/9 - still sick...blah.

7/11 - FINALLY! 3.5 miles on hotel treadmill (22.6 for month)

    @JimCrackinDandy Congrats on your HM!

Yesterday I decided to try two miles using 2 minutes run/1 minute walk. I used the Galloway method for a half marathon a few years ago and had a good experience so I am thinking I may just do run/walk/run for a while. My right tibia started aching so I only made it 15 minutes. I don't know why it is acting up all of a sudden. I am going to see how it feels on Wednesday.

7/1 - 3.3 miles - usually my rest day, but keeping my streak alive (3 more days!)
7/2 - 4.6 miles while eating lots of breakfast gnats yuck!
7/3 - 2.3 miles - short run today - took a new running partner who hasn't run in a while. She did great! It was cooler and raining.
7/4 - 6.2 miles - last day of my Memorial Day to 4th of July 41 Days of Awesome running challenge.
7/5 - rest day and travel to El Paso ugh what a trip
    7/6 - 2.5 horrible dreadmill miles
7/7 - 4.2 miles and 2.25 - went and ran where my boss told me. It was beautiful. It was like 90 and no shade during the run and my breathing is taking a beating, but it was worth to 30 min drive to get there.
    7/8 - 5.5 miles
    7/9 - 3.7 miles
    7/10 rest day
    7/11 - 3.1 miles Strong Girls 5K run today.
    7/12 - 5.6 miles - HOT HOT HOT
7/13 - 3.5 quick miles - working with the big boss today so I had to be in when he got in.
    7/14 - rest day
    7/15 - 4.3 miles
    7/16 - 5 miles
    7/17 - 3.4 miles
7/18 - 1.6 miles just to move - 2 miles after walking with Macy.
    7/19 - 7.3 miles
7/20 - 3.4 mile recovery run with Skip (so glad my girl is home!) While she was at soccer camp she was put on lock down during the shootings in TN (camp was nearby). Nothing like getting a text when I have no internet service and had NO idea what was going on, that says "Mommy we are on lock down in our dorm rooms and I'm all alone in my room". I told her to text a friend to see if they were in their room and tell them getting ready she's running to their room so she wouldn't be alone.

@jimcrackindandy - woohoo!!! Fantastic job on the HM, I love the medal! Congrats.
@ddmom0811 - how do you run after cycling all those miles this weekend - you are awesome!
@toadhunter911 - great job coming back from surgery
@elise4270 - I don't think there is anything worse than waiting to see who is being let go. That happen for me in a job one time and I was on the "bubble" if another employee choose to take the package I'd keep my job, if not I'd be out. My office mate kept going back and forth 100 times a day saying he was going to take the package, then saying no he wasn't. I was like shut up until you decide, he was making me crazy. Finally he decided to leave. It was 3 weeks of hell.

Mom is going home today, I hate to see her go. She's in her 80s and each time I see her she slows down more. She's got all kinds of issues, COPD, Crohn's Disease and was in a horrible car accident years ago (hit by a drunk driver) that causes her to be in pain most of the time. We used to live 2 blocks from each other until I moved her and she moved to Florida so it's always nice to spend quality time with her.
