JimCrackinDandy wrote: »Got back home this evening and found a slew of encouragement from ya'all! ( @shanaber @7lenny7 @skippygirlsmom @RunTimer @melaniefave41 @ddmom0811 ) Oh how I love you guys! As you all experienced, by reading everyone's posts, today was Hot and Humid! The race was a tough one. I hoped for a better time, but ran slower than I usually do even with the course being flatter than a pancake! 13.05 min/mile = 2 hours 43 minutes. I praise the LORD for causing me to make it over that finish line though.
@unrelentingminx - great going on your longest run! Keep it up!
@Ohhim - so glad your knees feel better with just one day rest. You surely "kneed" them with all you that running you do and all you have planned to do in the future!
@5BeautifulDays - Welcome! You are surely off to a great start!
@kristinegift - You sure gave that KT tape a workout today! It didn't last, but you did! WTG Sweetie!
@Pandora_and_her_box - Nice new longest run- 15.44miles! Great job!
@WhatMeRunning - You are really pushing out those miles again this month! An inspiration!!!
@melaniefave41 - lovely trail photos. Those 2 Boy Scouts did a great job.
@Elise4270 - I've missed out a few times this summer on cooler morning runs and feel the same as you did. Maybe we should get the "Nuisance on Wheels" alarm clock that jumps off your nightstand and starts whizzing around the room and making noise like a cross between R2D2 and a deranged Zhu Zhu Pet?
Added the 13.1miles for today
SO Frickin AWESOME!!
Way to go!

Thanks all for the welcome!
Went to a Fun Run yesterday and did a mile, but it was so slow (my kids kept wanting to walk) that I'm not counting it. Ran again today, a little farther than I expected. I was on a treadmill after several days outdoors--it was just too hot to run this morning.

5 in miserable hot, humid weather!

Hubby and I took his daughters to my grandfather's at the coast this weekend. We went swimming on Sunday and didn't get eaten by sharks, so that's a bonus. They did go fishing Saturday night and saw a 7-8 foot one at the fishing pier though. We may head back down there this weekend as well since it's the girls' vacation week with their dad and my grandfather likes visitors. I have got to find a nice place for at least a short run that's not too far a drive from his house. Got home today and got 2.75 miles in-so far giving me a total of 24.25 miles.
I've been enjoying reading about everyone's runs and exploits! It's helping to keep me motivated.0 -

I should have known better but I got greedy and ended up with a bad run. This should have been a rest day. Tomorrow will be for sure. On Wednesday my "little" girl and I (she's 19) and I run the TorchLight 5K in downtown Minneapolis with 5000 other folks. This is an evening race, starting at 7:30pm, and finishing withe beer, for me anyway.

You can do it! I find I do much better having a plan on running than just running for fun. I guess I just need a goal.Heat index yesterday was 110. I think today is going to be 105-ish.. I may be learning to run on the treadmill, it so boring, unchallenging and I'm not coordinated enough and its still painful on my SI joint.
Strength training for me today. Tomorrow is my long run and planning on 9.5 miles. Going to get up really early and start in the dark!0 -

7/1 - 3.3 miles - usually my rest day, but keeping my streak alive (3 more days!)
7/2 - 4.6 miles while eating lots of breakfast gnats yuck!
7/3 - 2.3 miles - short run today - took a new running partner who hasn't run in a while. She did great! It was cooler and raining.
7/4 - 6.2 miles - last day of my Memorial Day to 4th of July 41 Days of Awesome running challenge.
7/5 - rest day and travel to El Paso ugh what a trip
7/6 - 2.5 horrible dreadmill miles
7/7 - 4.2 miles and 2.25 - went and ran where my boss told me. It was beautiful. It was like 90 and no shade during the run and my breathing is taking a beating, but it was worth to 30 min drive to get there.
7/8 - 5.5 miles
7/9 - 3.7 miles
7/10 rest day
7/11 - 3.1 miles Strong Girls 5K run today.
7/12 - 5.6 miles - HOT HOT HOT
7/13 - 3.5 quick miles - working with the big boss today so I had to be in when he got in.
7/14 - rest day
7/15 - 4.3 miles
7/16 - 5 miles
7/17 - 3.4 miles
7/18 - 1.6 miles just to move - 2 miles after walking with Macy.
7/19 - 7.3 miles
7/20 - 3.4 mile recovery run with Skip (so glad my girl is home!) While she was at soccer camp she was put on lock down during the shootings in TN (camp was nearby). Nothing like getting a text when I have no internet service and had NO idea what was going on, that says "Mommy we are on lock down in our dorm rooms and I'm all alone in my room". I told her to text a friend to see if they were in their room and tell them getting ready she's running to their room so she wouldn't be alone.
7/21 - 5.5 miles
77.2 of 100 miles
@7lenny7 no such thing as a bad run just days we have better runs ha ha! I think those not so good runs are there to keep us humble. The 5K with your daughter sounds awesome. Skip and I want to get another in before school starts on 8/3. After that she has to get the Principal's permission to run any race outside what the XC team meets.
@elise4270 watch that heat, it's been the same here under a heat advisory for weeks it seems

Beat the heat and got in a 5k this morning...

@mandync5497 - Way to go on almost being done with your C25K.
@skippygirlsmom - scary for both you and your daughter.
@7lenny7 - The torch light run looks like fun - double fun with your "little girl" along.0
