Getting behind on my logging! 13.9 miles Sunday (shorter than planned due to a nagging injury), 4.2 miles this morning (shorter than planned due to my inability to get out of bed any earlier!)

Another 3 down. 800m repeats on the track. Way better than I was anticipating. It helped that the humidity was down so recovery felt so much faster!

    Goal: 40 miles

8/4 - 3.66 miles. Darn ITB bothered me around 3. I thought I was over this.
8/6 - 4.33 miles. No ITB pain, but slowed WAY down. Cautiously optimistic :)
8/10 - 4.53 miles. No pain again! Still very slow, but slow running is still running :)
8/12 - 3 miles. Taking it easy so I can start adding long runs on the weekend.
    8/14 - 3.5 miles
8/16 - 5.3 miles - felt great, no pain. A little sore in my hip a few hours later, so taking an extra rest day.

Race report (Run This Town half marathon in Oakland, CA)- PR!!!!1:39.44! Beats my previous best by about 20 seconds however that PR was 7 years and 2 kids ago. The fastest I have ru I the last few years was 1:47 last January. The course was fun. Flat first 4-5, then rolling hills and finishing with a flat 3 around a city lake. I started running and talking with this guy around mile 3 and we ended up running the whole thing together. Just chatting and encouraging each other. Very fun!

Congratulations! PR's are always nice to get. Glad you had fun too.

I'm actually on track for once, and no injuries! I actually had a great run today, I got lost and found a gorgeous river and wooded run less than a mile from my house, and I didn't even realise it was there! Can't wait to run it again tomorrow :)

Taking a rest day today, quads are sore from Sunday's run. I'm not used to going up and down "hills" LOL

@louubelle16 an @5beautifuldays I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets lost. I ran one day in the business park where I have worked for 8 years and got lost!
@shanaber :D on the corn cushions - great idea
@crimsonwhite glad you are getting out more and on the treadmill less, what's a Tide fan doing in NC?
@ohhim that dog bite is the gift that keeps giving. Sorry the meds made you sick and glad you are feeling better
@jorocka you are getting in some nice mileage

it's definitely a nice change of pace- I'm really liking getting up and out each morning- it's getting my day off well- i feel a lot better. I'm hoping after the half I can continue to run 2x a week in the mornings- if I leave just early enough- I get some yoga/foam rolling in as part of my cool down- and I'm in desperate need of that regularly LOL

YES FOR HILLS! definitely a thing!! I was surprised at what was sore/tight for me after my hill run. Disappointed I don't think I'll be get it done on this long 8 mile run- I'll be in Delaware- and it's super flat. :( sad panda face. Unless I run on the treadmill. and that's just = bleck.

10km yesterday morning for a total of 181km in August. I'm going to have to take a rest day today since my husband is out of town and my kids are too young to be left of their own. I've still got 169km left and after today 13 days to go.

@louubelle16 an @5beautifuldays I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets lost. I ran one day in the business park where I have worked for 8 years and got lost!

I imagine it's really easy to get lost in an office park--everything looks the same! It is fun when you discover a hidden gem, nearby, though. I mostly get lost on the little "bus paths" in my neighborhood. In theory, they're great for connecting up the "real" trails, but there are hundreds of them and they're not marked on any maps that I've seen.

Today I chose the safety of a treadmill, lol!

    8/1 3.2 @ 10:55 (race)
    8/2 5.0 @ 20:00 (hiking)
    8/3 4.5 @ 18:00 (walk with kids and dog)
    8/4 4.0 @ 11:30 (treadmill) and strength training
    8/5 Amusement Park Day
    8/6 3.0 @ 12:00 and strength training
    8/7 Aquarium Day

    8/8 4.0 @ 15:00 (my first technical trail)
    8/9 5.0 @ 12:00 on my normal trail--felt a little sluggish
    8/10 4.5 @ 12:00 on a new trail near my house
8/11 3.5 @ 11:00 on the treadmill, laughing like an insane person, and strength training
    8/12 Rest Day. Yuck.
8/13 7.5 @ 12:56 (the first 10K were at about 12:15; I walked the last mile and a quarter with a terrible stitch in my side)
8/14 3.25 @ 11:04 on the treadmill and strength training

    8/15 5.0 @ 11:48 road/flat trail combo
    8/16 Rest Day
8/17 4.0 @ 12:47--I got out late and it was really hot. I also got "lost" a couple times, exploring a new section of trail.
8/18 4.25 @ 11:17 on the treadmill and strength training

    60.75/100

@jorocka I ran Sunday where @stoshew71 runs a couple days a week so I'm sure he is laughing at my hill comment. If you run on the street it's fairly flat, but the sidewalks go up and down. Plus I started on the Greenway and went the Farrow hill. Ha ha I'm trying to get out of my running comfort zone.

Looks like lots of folks are fighting tired legs today.

I had to go 25 minutes out of my way (which seems like a lot considering how tiny NJ is) but got up early to drive to my hill run- my 1/2 is in West Virginia- so as nice as sidewalk pitch can be as a change of pace -it's not going to prepare me- so yeah- the hills gotta get worked in!!! I've been running some bridges over major roads to just to get some sort of texture in!! Totally jealous you have nice places to go do that sort of thing!

went out fully intending to do 2 miles, put little miss on her scooter following behind me.... half a mile in and i hear her clatter to the floor. other runners and dog walkers are telling me shes fine and to keep on running. Yeah no the blood running down her leg says not ok

so we went home and shes now wrapped up on the sofa issuing orders and telling me shes never going on the scooter again, she will just run instead

Research Park? Only hill I know there is Farrow from the side Columbia HS entrance up to Explorer.

I need to read your entire comment within context before I comment back. LOL Yes, that hill get's jennifer too. She hated it on the Rudolph Run 5K. My Tuesday Brueggers run has bigger hills. The hill leading into my apartment complex on Water Hill Rd is almost the same profile as the Cotton Row hill.

Hey... that's probably a nicer alternative to the traditional band-aid (tm).

I've tried body glide and it seems to help somewhat. It seems they toughen up eventually.

Tonight under the moon while drinking a beer or two I'm going to offer almonds and blueberries to the running spirits and ask them to heal our group's hurting runners. Get well soon everyone!

Still waiting for Phobos to descend so no mountains for me yet. Short 10km run today around the Burnaby Lake trail with Kady The Wonder Dog. Nipple report (mine not hers): bearable.

Two days off! But I plead excessive Northeast Mugginess. The 'I Love Lucy' joke: Yesterday was Muggy, today is Tuggy, followed by Wuggy, Thuggy, and Fuggy.

    5 Miles today!
