Ugh. 6.3 miles ... not too hot but SOOO humid. It is days like today that the Running Challenge helps me the most. It would be easy to Find an Excuse, but I have this little cartoon guy to get over the finish line! And look at him ... only two trees left to pass!

8/15: 6 miles with the Saturday morning group
    8/16: 14 miles
    8/17: 5 miles
    8/18: Rest
    8/19: 9.2 miles
8/20: 8 miles am + 6.3 miles pm with Thursday crew

Lovely run with the group tonight! Managed to run before the storms could come through, so that was great. Some people commented that I've been getting significantly faster, and I mentioned that I've lost 4-5 lbs this month so that's helped my pace a lot, and they were like, "Yeah we THOUGHT you looked smaller, but we didn't want to say anything and make it weird. But you look great!" And that made me pretty happy, since I just hit my goal weight and have been feeling pretty excellent since! But half the usual crew will be gone next week, so I've been (only half-jokingly) put in charge. Fun!

@kristinegift - your two-a-day schedule makes me tired just reading about it

Haha, it's actually usually one of my fastest days of the week (especially in the evening). And the 2-a-day is worth it when I'm sleeping in til 8 on Friday morning!

Total slog today. It was 75 degrees and 90% humidity when I left at 6, and 75 degrees and 88% humidity when I got back an hour and a half+ later. Could not get my feet moving and made the dumb decision to put lots of hilly stretches in my route. Cannot wait til some storms come through and knock these 90+ degree days out of here!

On the bright side: there were a ton of other runners slogging it this morning too who were all quite friendly, and for the first time since I moved out here I saw a FOX! I ran past it and it jumped out of a bush and dashed through someone's backyard. It was so fluffy and cute! :)
@kristinegift - seriously- it's been beautiful in the mornings!! I rolled out around 535 and it was so.gross.

All my long runs are on Saturday at this point so I don't' think our mileage lines up well- but at some point- we should do a thing LOL- esp since you said the magical "hilly stretches"

Haha well if you're ever running in Princeton, anything UP from the canal parking lot on Alexander (north/west-ward toward main Princeton) is all uphill. I live close to the canal, so I'm running up for the first half of most of my runs, and still these hills kill me some days!
I'm going to make my way up there!! Technically I have a 5K race slotted for the 29th- so I could make it up there to come run with you- esp if you're doing a shorter quicker run- otherwise program calls for a long run.

I need to schedule some afternoon- or later in the day runs- running super early is great for me for a lot of reasons- but I know my race won't be that early so I'll need to be in some sort of heat at some point much to my dismay!

Ooh which race is that? Are you doing a long run + the 5k? What the sitch? Message me if you want!
And lately, I think my AM runs have been hotter than my PM runs! Was definitely the case this morning. Ew!

@ruqayyahsmum "slow as molasses but getting better" - slow isn't a bad thing, that's how you build endurance and reduce the likelihood of injury.

@5BeautifulDays Hurting more running downhill than up, walking down stairs than up, is a fairly classic sign of ITB syndrome. Dedicated stretching can help you relieve this in reasonably short order and prevent it from returning. The one time I suffered this I'd also let my shoes go way past their best before date... was running stupid amounts of miles and kinda forgot to buy shoes.

@WhatMeRunning Hills? You want hills? Come here! We got nothing but hills, it's hard to find flats here, at least from my doorstep. Speaking of hills, going to do the Grouse Grind, Vancouver's outdoor Stairmaster(tm) on Saturday, 853 meters (2,800 feet) over 3km. How much running will be involved remains to be seen, but at least there's an 11km return route from the top.

After two weeks of holidays and dealing with kidney stones, I'm starting to feel like I'm back in the running (and eating) rhythm again.

Speaking of bodily functions I can't tell you how thrilling it is to read of the measures our kin here take for, uh, emergencies while running. Baby wipes - great idea. Much better than wet leaves (uncharacteristically we are having a drought at the moment) or squirrels which never seem to be handy when you need one.

@baldielove13 I have the same goal as you. And.... I fell off the wagon way before you did. I killed my knees running down a very steep hill. So now, my goal remains the same as your updated one- get as close to 130 as possible.

Keep it up everyone! You're all my heroes!

8/3 For my Chinese take out supply....
    8/4 Managed a 1.17 "ralk" with all 3 puppies
8/5 3.1 on the dreadmill until the aforementioned Chinese food from hell re "reared" (pun intended)
    its ugly head.
    8/6 2.52
    8/7 5
    8/8 3.67
    8/9 3.42

    8/15 3.65
    8/16 3.77
    8/17 3.34
    8/18 Bike
    8/19 rest
8/20 3.47 First "real" run with all 3 dogs on the tandem leash: Lily (deemed a whippet and/or greyhound mix by the vet) surely laughs at my idea of "run"

    Total 42.92

Ticker is my goal for 2015 and accumulation to date:

Sick... Sinus infection and a pulled muscle in my side. Note this is the first time I have been sick (and taking antibiotics) in over 5 years! I am a baby now! :( Still went to strength training and aggravated to sore muscle. Hoping to get a little run in tomorrow morning without aggravating the sinus infection or the pulled muscle any more! I definitely need it for stress reduction!

    Ouch! Sinus infections are awful

I find decongestant sprays help alleviate the pressure caused by the infection
    hope your feeling better soon

9.3 miles on the treadmill after work. More of a mental challenge than a physical one, I was quite prepared to give up after 6 miles.

Checking in @ 96/150 64% just below par s/b 67! Nice AM run before work today (had not done that in a long time). Although a busy weekend coming up, hoping to get in another 20 to get back (ahead) par 77%.

    8/1 - 10 miles
    8/2 - 3.2 miles
8/3 - 5.5 miles 1st day of school here, can't believe my baby is a Sophomore!
    8/4 - 3.2 miles
    8/5 - rest day
8/6 - 1.8 miles ending up not getting back out last night - had to bring work home with me and worked until 9:30
8/7 - 4.4 miles in the fog  5K Run to the Rescue with Skip and some of her teammates tomorrow.
8/8 - 3.1 Run to the Rescue 5K today. Skip and I ran, it was trail for almost 2 miles (I've never run off the road) then onto the road, then onto parking lot gravel (ugh) then back to and finish on grass. We don't have official times, I was I did a 9:43 pace just over 30 min so not near a PR, Skip said she was about 23:49 not near her PR either. I thought it was a tough course, a few hills. The trail was hard for me very rooty and uneven, but it was a lot of fun. I finished 3rd in my AG and she finished 1st in her AG.
    8/9 - 9.3 miles
    8/10 - 3.5 miles of recovery - it's my birthday it's my birthday!! :sunglasses:
    8/11- 6.1 miles
8/12 - 3.5 miles - Wed is usually my rest day but I need to be in work at OhDark30 the next two days so I ran today.
    8/13 - rest day
8/14 - rest day - work got in the way for 2 days :-(
    8/15 - 6.5 miles - halfway right on schedule
8/16 - 8.6 miles - longest run ever for Skip - so proud of her
8/17 - 3.5 miles of leisurely run in the rain
    8/18 - rest day
8/19 - 6.4 miles legs still sore and they talked to me the whole run - they weren't cursing so I kept going
    8/20 - 5.1 miles
    8/21 - 3.5 miles - overslept a bit so I knew I couldn't do the 4.5 I wanted ended up with a 10:15 pace, felt great.

    87.4 miles of 120

So I'm done with the run and I'm walking my dog and this guy who I see from time to time runs by and says "are you done for the day?" "yes I am" "how many did you do" "alittle over 3 got my long run tomorrow" "oh I don't do that long running I'm in it for the long haul you'll just get hurt and not be able to run as you get older 3 is all you need (blah blah blah)" I just look at him and I'm thinking "hey fellow runner thanks for the support!!". Geesh!
