    There are some super good non-dairy versions too - Coconut Bliss makes some very decadent flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate, Amaretto Fudge, Vanilla Bean..... A single serving of one of them is very fulfulling as a dessert and fits right into the calorie goal.

    It makes me prioritize. "What is the thing I am really craving?" This will help with maintenance too, it shows me what a portion looks like.

    I'm not allowed to eat chocolate, ice cream, pastry, cakes, biscuits because of high cholesterol....I can live without pastry, cakes, biscuits and even ice cream but CHOCOLATE and chocolate desserts....its just too cruel!

    "Dark chocolate in small amounts (about a half-ounce) is actually good for your heart: Studies show that flavonoid-rich cocoa (a key ingredient in chocolate and hot chocolate) lowers “bad” LDL cholesterol and raises “good” HDL cholesterol." - EverydayHealth

    Easy enough fix. Get a diabetic chocolate or mix cocoa with stevia/sucralose.

    I suspect he is, but there are other factors which may be in play. High activity level and significant muscle density/low body fat percentage seriously "up the ante" when it comes to available calories.

    Plus, how much ice cream? I just checked a handful of Ben & Jerry's flavors; average it out to 300 calories/ half cup. Sure, 300 calories is a quarter of my recommended allowance, but Ninerbuff probably has a wider margin. :)

    And if I get in a decent amount of steps and make conscientious choices during the day, I can leave room for a 300 calorie dessert. I happen to like the individual cakes at Nothing Bundt Cakes; 1/2 of a "bundtlet" is on the order of 225 calories; that with a cup of coffee (with half and half) is <300 calories. Or I could have a half cup of Ben & Jerry's and be pretty happy about it.

    You learn to "Make it work".

    You don't have to quit dessert. Just replace what you'd normally get for a healthier option. On my high carbs days, I get smoothie, or frozen yogurt. Also FlapJacked muffins

    For anyone with a Wegmans, they make cheesecake....with Greek yogurt...so each slice is 150 cal. So good, creamy, airy....that's my go-to treat/dessert right now because, well, portion control!

    Never deprive yourself - leads to binging/overeating.

    Check out Pinterest for mug cakes! I have never made one because lazy, but they look so good! They will have a lot of different low cal desserts, too, I'm sure!

    Lots of the B&J's are high, though. Talenti is more often closer to 200, and there are some other gelatos that are even less. B&J's frozen yogurt is less too.

    I'm obsessed with mixing two flavors, so I'll usually do a lower cal one with the B&J's if I want a higher cal B&J one, to average out not much more over 200-220. (For some reason that's what I usually end up with at the end of the day, calorie-wise.)

    You are misunderstanding how this works. It's not as if people who are having dessert every day are gorging on it. It's having a serving that fits into the calorie goal. When I'm not exercising, like right now, I have my three meals, with a snack, during the day, and still have room for dessert at the end of the day. It's about choices and portion sizes.

    @suziecue20 , cocoa has most of the fat removed. I'm still rooting for you to find a cholesterol friendly chocolate.
