I followed a different recipe for beef stew and it was totally disappointing. It had no potatoes in it which resulted in way too much meat. Going back to the old recipe and loading up on the carrots and veggies. And I was really looking forward to that dinner too.0

Halloween potluck at work today. Chili, fried chicken, cornbread, sweet roll, deviled eggs (my contribution), and some mystery casserole (not digging the mystery casserole), and tons of deserts (most of that, plus another plate of the things, goes home for my Dad!).

Margie went out with her buddies after work. She was nice enough to bring me a meal when she came in. It was steak, shrimp, black beans, sweet potato and sweet potato fries. Very good.

Went to one of my favorite vegetarian Vietnamese restaurants and got my ususal...vietnamese spring rolls with rice noodles, carrots, lettuce, a soy sausage, and peanut sauce (they call it "Roses on the Grill"); and grilled "chick-un" with veggies and brown rice (they call it "Angels at Peace").

Supper was smoked Boston Butt, black beans, mixed veggies {with extra corn} and toasted baguette. Also had an apple that didn't get in the picture in time. Pretty good.

Tonight we had a veggie and pulse thing ... er stew, casserole, not sure what it should be called but is cooked in one saucepan over a very low heat for about 40 mins. It contained kidney beans, green lentils, pearl barley, chopped tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, celery, sweet potato, leek, carrot, parsnip, tomato puree, mixed herbs, caraway seeds, smoked paprika and seasoning. Was scrummy, full of fibre and very filling with a wholemeal pitta bread to dip in.0

I had a really late lunch, so supper was a light one. It was a chipped Boston Butt sandwich with a slice of the first Pruden's Purple tomato out of the garden, grapes and carrots. Had a cup of NSA butter pecan ice cream with granola for dessert. Very good.

I said multiple times out loud: OMG OMG this is so good!
I had simply broiled salmon but hot damn it was extra tasty this evening! Thank you Whole Foods!0 -
My elderly Dad and I went out to a restaurant for Thanksgiving. The meal was roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, roasted butternut squash, dressing, cranberry sauce, turkey gravey, steamed whole green beans, basil rolls with pumpkin butter, and for dessert I chose the pumpkin custard (dad chose a chocolate peanut butter custard thing).
Really good.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This isn't the main dish, but these are going to be served as a complementary side. Homemade braided challah rolls.

I've been lax about posting here lately. Sorry about that, but this old world keeps spinning round. . . .
I had a black church group in tonight. they hooked me up with hot wings, grilled chicken, ham, yellow rice, a roll, green beans and cabbage Very, very good food. I'm going to the camp as soon as I get off work, but now I don't have to fire up the rocket stove to cook my supper.
