So many posts - Everyone is doing great thangs, @kareF is in the bleachers nursing her injury but cheering everyone on. Looking forward to when we see you back doing some slow/short distance runs to slowly work yourself back into the routine.

Just to run 1k again will make me so happy! I cannot believe the way running has affected me.. I feel so horrible not being able to run. Here I was thinking about increasing distance.. Though I think when I start running again I'll just be grateful for every km I run

There are at least 2 ways to do it.

First is what i call a manual way of doing it. First is to export the data from runkeeper into a .gpx file format. Then you manually import that file into strava.

There is also an automatic way of doing it using a third party service such as Tapiriik.
    https://tapiriik.com/

    Manual method:

To export your Runkeeper data, follow the steps below to receive files in both GPX (GPS exchange) and CSV format:
    (I suggest gpx)
    Found these instructions from:
    https://support.runkeeper.com/hc/en-us/articles/201109886-How-to-Export-your-Runkeeper-data

    1. Visit runkeeper.com/settings

    2. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the Export Data tab

    3. Select a "Starting Date" and "Ending Date" using the calendar boxes to provide your activity data within that timeframe

    4. Click the button "Export Data" to complete the export process

    5. Individual GPX activity files, along with master CSV files for cardio activities, measurements, strength training and sleep, will be available for direct download on that same page with a "Download Now!" button.

    6. Just click on that button and you will have all your files saved directly to your computer!

Please note: The export process can take a while. Just leave the page up and come back to it later. The page will refresh every 30 seconds or so until your data is available, then it will be available for 24 hours afterwards. Don't be afraid to let it sit for a while!

After they are saved to your computer, you can now upload the data to strava manually:

You can upload .gpx files at http://app.strava.com/upload/select

Locate the gpx files that were recently saved on your computer by hitting Browse...
Follow the directions on the screen.
Duplicate entries will be ignored (in case you accidently add the same entry twice).

Before you upload your files, you may want to add your running shoes so you can select them for each run.
I love this feature. It helps me keep track of the mileage of each shoe I have.

yes I did last year but not everyday and so early

I've been through lots of changing in my life during this last year, I moved to England from Italy 10 years ago with the idea of enjoying the colder/rainier weather (I was crazy I know), but now I cannot stand it anymore! I became a meteopathic
I had to look that up! I'm one too - for me it's humidity/heat. But I don't have to deal with extreme cold, so if I did I'd complain there too. I just need to move to Monterey and have it be perfect all year.

@Stoshew71 -lol, that you just play a doctor on the Internet. Don't worry, we trust you and no one will sue. Very inspiring article. Reading that makes me feel so hopeful for those who need to lose a lot. It can be done!

Holiday Streak, anyone? (Running Streak) Here's the info: http://www.runnersworld.com/tag/rwrunstreak

Here's an article someone posted last year about the Holiday Streak - a guy writes about doing it, pretty funny.
    http://www.runnersworld.com/newbie-chronicles/a-season-to-streak

I'm still debating. I know @skippygirlsmom said the one you did in the summer was not good - and you could never recover. My son gets married on December 5th, in Savannah, GA, so I feel quite obsessive saying I have to run each of the 3 days we are away, lol. But husband is used to my crazy plans, and no one else really has to know. Except for all 500 of you all.

@ddmom0811 I was looking at those articles today! I've already decided to do it. It's only 1 mile. I'm going to use it to transition myself to running in the morning. We have an itsy bitsy tiny little "gym" in my apartment building so I could get up just 15 minutes earlier, go downstairs, hit the t-mill, and bust out a single mile. One of two things will happen...I will hate the t-mill and go outside (most likely) and start adding mileage, or I will hate the t-mill, get it done, and never step on one of those dreadful things again.

Anyone else going to join in?

I did the holiday streak last year! I really liked it. It kept me from totally falling off the wagon after my fall races. However this year, since my marathon is just a few days before Thanksgiving, I'm gonna skip it. Don't want to tempt myself to run when I should be recovering and taking a well-deserved break.

I've done the summer and holiday streaks, and I found that running at least 1 mile a day kept me in good shape and, for the summer one during marathon training, helped my endurance. That's what turned me on to day-after-long-run recovery runs instead of taking the day off after a long run. I like the RW streaks, but the timing just isn't right this time around :s

Oh dear, people have been congratulating me for running a 5k, but I didn't say I ran a 5k.

I ran my furthest distance yet DURING a 5k parkrun.

I actually "only" ran a bit over 2km.

    Sorry for the confusion!

Just a quick check-in, Mondays are always my busiest days! I did get a quick, windy 4 miles in this morning. With 18 MPH winds it was a battle and each way I turned I seemed to be heading into it. I really thought at some point I would get the benefit of it pushing me from my back. I am tapering this week for the half this Saturday. I am feeling really nervous about it. It is an invitational and I want to do well - hopefully at least get near my entry time!

    Date..........Miles.........Total
    11/01.......0.00...........0.00

    17/11 - 13.2 miles

thank you thank you thank you to whatever made my leg recovering very well tonight

I woke up almost pain free, had positive feelings, and in the end run my first weekly HM pretty well, a part from that damned wind that it's taking the piss now - every day!!!

was not tired, let's say 80% ok with the ITBS, I think the difference was made by the Ktape I put on the knee. I taped it for both ITBS and general knee support, really pleased with the result

struggled for the first 5-6km, for some reasons now I want to quit at that distance, than felt better and better and finished faster

I missed these positive feelings, I hope they keep coming, but I'm cautious, very cautious, as tomorrow could be awful

@ddmom0811 I tried to do the holiday streak last year but didn't stick to it. Was in a bad way any how. But I'd love to join in this year!

Count me in!! I will have to walk the first half of Dec though, until I have the all the clear to run, if that's okay? I will aim to walk/run 2km every day

Of course! Anything you want to do is fine! I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to do it. Especially on the days I bike. Although, there is a tightness after biking that a mile run would probably shake out.

    Nov 1 - rest
    Nov 2 - 3.2
    Nov 3 - 4.3
    Nov 4 - strength training
    Nov 5 - rest
Nov 6 - 5.0 Had to loop in front of house to hit 5 exactly. ;)
    Nov 7 - 5.0 in daylight!
Nov 8 - 6.0 in daylight, but too darn hot and humid.
    Nov 9 - rest day.
    Nov 10 - 4.7 miles
    Nov 11 - strength training
    Nov 12 - 5.33 miles
    Nov 13 - 4.04 miles + strength training
    Nov 14 - 34 mile bike ride
    Nov 15 - 40 mile bike ride
    Nov 16 - 4.3 miles
    Nov 17 - rest day.

Oh dear, people have been congratulating me for running a 5k, but I didn't say I ran a 5k.

I ran my furthest distance yet DURING a 5k parkrun.

I actually "only" ran a bit over 2km.

    Sorry for the confusion!

Don't sell yourself short. I count run/walk as running. No matter how little I actually run, as long as I'm putting out the effort- its a run. No one starts out running the entire distance. Er no normal person that is, maybe the gifted or youth.

@ddmom0811 I think you could count bike days towards your streak. Really it's a way to keep moving and focused through the holiday season.
