11/15/15 18,702 steps - 8.96 miles. 2:37'01" 775 calories. 2 (3 lbs) weights and 8 lbs weighted vest. Dunbar Cave State Park - Recovery Trail (Strenuous)

Quick background on why this is phenomenal for me: This trail is covered with leaves, rocks, roots, it goes up, down and the conditions change rapidly. You have to be nimble and ready.

I was injured severely two years ago on this trail ($22,000 worth of severe). I fell after finishing about 14 miles out on this trail one day. I broke my wrist off and cut my head open and my knee. (Yes, I had a concussion). I have only gone back to the trail about 3 times in the last two years because of fear. I have not walked it like I walked it today. The surgeon who put me back together told me I could not be an "extreme" walker. I was devastated by that and quit trying. Fast forward to today...I laced up my shoes and put on my weights and I kept my eyes on the trail to watch for hazards. I am back to the weight I was two years ago (still overweight), but I am going to get the rest of it off.
I thought about putting in the pictures, but realized, they are rather graphic and not everyone can stomach that.

Wow Alpha what a tale! I'm glad you've battled back from that. That takes grit! Great job...
(My older daughter fell trail running in 6th grade and hit a rock, resulting in a hairline fracture to her eye orbit & a nasty facial laceration. But wouldn't you know she ran the next 6 years for her middle & high school teams and still coaches at trail running camps in the summer whenever she can. If you really love something I guess you just keep coming back for more!)
I walked 24229 steps today, 10.5 miles. A big hill climb... Then a little dog walking.

I knew this month was going to be tough to get out and walk on a regular basis and so far, that's held true. Last Monday I developed a blister on my heel and thought that would be ok after a days rest. Well, it actually took almost four days before the tenderness went away.

This past Saturday, I went out for 10.5 miles and developed another blister. Good grief. All summer/fall I've been hiking and haven't had issues and the last two walks have resulted in blisters. I sure hope that isn't a trend!

That's a bummer! Hope your feet feel better soon.
I walked 17374 steps today, 7.5 miles. That was 80 minutes of recess supervision, walking constantly, plus a walk to my bank after school, and the evening dog walk.

November 15 a VERY busy day I ran 2.87 km, Vinyasa yoga for an hour, as well as walked the dogs for a 2.56km

@AlphaHowls I am so sorry you had to go through that...very scary, but I am very happy that you went back...the more you do that the easier it becomes. I am so proud of you for getting back to what you were.
@BruceHedtke sounds like you need new socks or new shoes. Socks rubbing are probably giving you the blisters...maybe try a different kind.
@scolaris I used to have something similar to plantar facitis(sp?) I had a heel spur. I got some specific shoes and it went away thank god...but it was very painful. Do you have certain insoles? That way you can have fancier shoes lol.

    For everyone else awesome job!

Hello! Well, as it happens I got FANCY walking shoes tonight with my REI member coupon. Waterproof Ahnu hikers. Teal green! Yes, I do use inserts. But right now my foot needs to be pretty much immobilized in the shoe so most of my boots, sandals or ballet flats are just too flexible & thin soled even with an orthotic. ~sighs~
I'm taking it easy this week. No extra dance classes, lower walking mileage. Feeling a little run down & want to be in tip top hiking condition for next week when I meet my husband in Dallas & drive the rest of the way home with him. He's packing up his fiat & leaving DC on Saturday. He'll pick me up Sunday night & we'll have three days to reach Northern California. All I want to do is stop to hike 2-3 times a day & eat my fill of southwestern cuisine. Shouldn't be hard, right? LOL
11,977 steps today, 5.1 miles. Breaking in the new shoes.

Managed to squeeze in a healthy 4.5 miles today. I've been trying to walk to work (roughly 2 miles each way) but the weather has been dreary. Too much rain!

Very nice! That reminds me that I have some shoes and boots in my Amazon cart. The Asolo boots I have now have been with me for quite a few years now and have been on plenty of adventures. They're still in good shape and are tough as nails but the padding on the inside is starting to give up the ghost. I love buying from Amazon or Sierra Trading Post because you can get discontinued items for great prices but you also never really know how they're going to fit until you get them at home.

If you get snow and ice, a pair of Yaktrax are pretty much a must-have. You can run across glare ice.

Sorry to hear about the gloom Bruce. That would make walking commuting hard!
Yes.... I would be an Amazon/Sierra girl under normal circumstances but the darn plantars means I have to try everything on in person. I'm a gimp!
I LURVE yaktrax. They are life changing in icy conditions. If you don't have some Winnie try them!
I had some sort of 24 hour two step that kept me within sprinting distance of my home bathroom yesterday. Ugh. 5600 steps, none of them worth mentioning. Glad today is a new day.
