Congrats to everyone who met goal or were close. I haven't run since Friday, life is just getting in my way. I have a 5K tonight with Skip called the Galaxy of Lights so I'll finish the month around 92 miles almost 18 short of goal which I'm cool with this month. I guess I'll see you there @stoshew71 there too. Go away rain ha ha

@moyer566 great pictures, the cinnamon buns look awesome. My first 5K was the Kolache 5K in Texas and they have kolaches at the end. OMG!
    @karef hang in there
    @stoshew71 great bib
@elise4270 I brought Skip a New Balance running jacket yesterday, I'll let you know if she likes it after tonight. It was $80 but it was 25% off and then I had a $25 gift card so it was a good price. http://www.newbalance.com/pd/windcheater-jacket/WJ53111.html?dwvar_WJ53111_color=Imperial Print#color=Imperial Print

    mmm kolaches

This morning on the way to work I passed a transmission place and they had a sign out front "We have pumpkin spice transmission fluid!"

They're using coffee in place of transmission fluid? LOL!

I did not get to run at all this weekend due to too much traveling. We went from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh to Morgantown, WV to Parkersburg, WV in 4 days and just made it back this afternoon in time for a half day of work. Unless I run 17 miles tonight (which is NOT in the plans), I am not going to make my November goal. A combination of post marathon blahs and getting back to life left me coming up a bit short, but I am okay with it. It feels good to put running on the back burner for a while.

On a side note, Thanksgiving Turkey Trot was a pretty good success. Hubby and I ran the Pittsburgh Turkey Trot. I ran the 5K with him and it was his first sub 10 minute mile 5k!. Then I did the 5 mile and got the EXACT same chip time as last year's 5 mile Turkey Trot (completely different race). I was looking for a sub 37:30, but ended up with a 37:47. I just missed an AG award by coming in 4th in my age group. Something to shoot for next year!

Aaaah, sweet, sweet biking! Hamstring is definitely doing SOMETHING, and it feels harder/firmer than my other one when engaged (though not when idle). (This is why I wanted to bike so badly this weekend: I can't reach down and feel my hamstrings when I'm running, but I can on a stationary bike, and boy was it revealing!) I think some icing, foam rolling and much more biking is in my immediate future, but I am glad that the hamstring was doing its job. It was sort of loose and weak before, so this is a good sign! Waiting for my feet to stop cramping so I can do my bridges and planks (anyone else have major foot cramp problems after biking, or just me?).

    Looking forward to December!

@moyer566 That Trot looks so fun! And the cinnamon rolls... yum!

@skippygirlsmom Great article re: killing the post-race buzz. I do this all the time; the thrill is usually gone by the end of the day. Love the tips at the end.

No, I think they are just joking that they have pumpkin spice in their transmission fluid because every place you drive by around here has pumpkin this month. Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Panera, EInsteins, etc... all have pumpkin in muffins, bagels, etc.

    11/1 4.71 miles
11/2 no run—elliptical for an hour though!
11/3 5.27 miles — lake path. here are a couple of pictures!
11/4 no run--elliptical for an hour.
11/5 4 miles--nice run, but my left calf decided to go crazy today for some reason! I did finish my run, although the last mile was painful, like a cramp, but not fully
11/7 7 miles--wonderful run, felt so comfortable and happy since I thought I won't be able to make the run
    11/8 no run--one-hour elliptical instead
    11/9 5.19 miles--cold, 28 degrees, but a great run!
    11/10 elliptical
11/11 rest day--trip out of town for five days that made running difficult
    11/12 4.71 -- trip somewhat made
    11/13 none
    11/14 none
    11/15 none
    11/16 5--back to town. Yes!
11/17 none. forced rest day bc of work!
    11/18 5.19 -- good run
    11/19 rest day
    11/20 no run--elliptical day
    11/21 no run--elliptical day
11/22 5.13 -- on the snow for the first time, was a really good run!
11/23 rest day forced bc of work
    11/24 4.5 needed run
    11/25 1.86 warm up run preparing for tomorrow's 10k!
    11/26 6.2 -- 10K race, BerbeeDerby! 54:05, 8:43!
11/27 2.36 slow, easy recovery run! Also, a half hour elliptical, just for good measure!
11/28 4.53 — ran with neighborhood guys. we discovered one another at the BerbeeDerby thanksgiving run and decided to run together on Saturdays. Not only did i get to run, but also to know a couple of cool guys living in my very neighborhood.
11/29 no run today, but an hour and a half of soccer. that was good! I will be missing my goal for this month, but that's okay since I was doubtful from the very beginning! I still have one more day, right!
11/30 3.6 -- even if not meeting my challenge, i just had to increase it, maybe a bit!

I ran 34.7 miles this month, short of my 45 mile goal :/ but I did run a 10K race so I'm happy about that. Will try again this December.

@MrsKGrady great picture! It looks cold but you look happy, that's awesome.

@moyer566 - love the pictures from your race! Would have loved to see one with bacon :) Looks like you are having a great time and the cinnamon buns look so good!
@MrsKGrady - It does look cold but you look like you are having a great time running in the snow!
@MorningGhost14 - it is great to see you back here - I have missed you!! I am still plugging away at the miles, hoping to make 1500 for the year!
@lporter229 - congratulations on your 5k and 5 mile races! Sounds like it was great racing for you and your hubby!
@kristinegift - glad you were able to get on the bike today and that you can focus on what is going on with your hamstring. I have to say whatever the masseuse did for my hips on Saturday worked wonders for my hamstrings!
@skippygirlsmom - what?1? Kolaches!! I need to find me some of these races with good food at the end! Cinnamon buns, kolaches, beer - I need some of this in my life and maybe it would make me run faster!

Didn't get to run today. Life and work (mostly work) got in the way - damn it is a day I really needed it too for my mental health more than the challenge, although it would have made me happy to hit my goal.

Congratulations to everyone who made their goal, or were close, or who weren't close but made an effort to get out there and run! You all are awesome!!

    On to December!

Skip and I ran the Galaxy of Lights 5K tonight. So proud of her, for the 2nd year in a row she won her age group with a time of 23:22 placing 32nd out of 709 runners. I finished 4th in my age group with a 30:23 placing 190th. This race, it's run in the dark with only the lights from the Christmas decorations to show the way. Tomorrow night we are running the 3K at the same place. Thank you rain for holding off! Had lots of fun with Mrs. @stoshew71 and their daughter. Love the trophy, it's hand made Christmas lights.

Super sore today and fatigued after last night's 18 miler, so just did a slow 5.5 with a neighbor this evening.

Haven't missed a monthly goal this badly in a while, but I had forgotten how much tapering pre/post my 2 long races this month would take out of my schedule. On the plus side, I nailed 2 big PRs (2:32 olympic triathlon & 1:32 half marathon) and finished strong with a 65 mile week. Onto December!

    11/1 - 4 miles
    11/2 - 4 miles
    11/3 - 9 miles
    11/4 - 6 miles
    11/6 - 2 miles
    11/8 - 6.2 miles
    11/9 - 4 miles
    11/10 - 11 miles
    11/11 - 5 miles
    11/12 - 11 miles
    11/14 - 3 miles
    11/15 - 15 miles (w. 1:32:46 LV half marathon)
    11/17 - 7 miles
    11/18 - 4 miles
    11/19 - 8 miles
    11/21 - 4 miles
    11/22 - 16 miles
    11/23 - 5 miles
    11/24 - 8.5 miles
    11/26 - 12.5 miles
    11/27 - 10 miles
    11/28 - 10.5 miles
    11/29 - 18 miles
    11/30 - 5.5 miles

    Total: 189 miles
    Target: 220 miles
    Remaining: 31 miles

    10/2 5 miles
    10/3 3.5 miles
    10/5 5.5 miles
    10/7 2 miles
    10/11 6 miles
    10/14 4 miles
    10/16 3 miles
    10/20 6 miles
    10/22 3 miles
    10/24 3 miles
    10/27 5 miles
    10/30 4 miles

Just made it, finishing off today with the 4 miles I needed to get me to 50 total for the month. Yay. It's awesome to hear everyone's accomplishments. Next month will be tough to hit with everything going on-work travel, Christmas shopping, cleaning and family visits, but I figure I can at least put a goal in there to keep me from being too much of a slacker! So I'm looking forward to next month's challenge.

@MrsKGrady look at you all running in the snow and kicking it! I haven't tried that particular feat yet--a little scary!
@skippygirlsmom Congrats to Skip on her AG placement. That looks like a really fun (and pretty) race.

11/1 3.1 @ 11:15 outside in the neighborhood in the rain
    11/2 rest
11/3 5.0 @ 10:59 on the treadmill (plus a 1 mile walk and strength training)
11/4 8.2 @ really really slow (16:04) riking (run-hiking, steep, covered with inches of leaves and treacherous fun)
11/5 4.0 @ 12:30 recovery run plus .5 walk on the park trail
    11/6 3.25 @ 10:53 on the treadmill (really 3.0 at 10:28, plus .25 at a walk) plus strength training.
    11/7 Rest/Life Day

    11/8 Rest/Life Day
11/9 5.5 @ 12:30 on the park trail with the doggy--who really enjoyed rolling around in the leaves!
    11/10 2.5 @ 11:38 (really 2.25 at 11:07 and a .25 walk) around the neighborhood in the rain.
    11/11 6 @ 11:32 on the treadmill (really 5 at 11:00 and 1 at a fast walk/jog) plus strength training
11/12 7 @ 11:45 (this is really like 5 at 10:50 and the rest a little slower), plus 1 at a walk on the treadmill. I am in some pain...yesterday was squats and lunges and this may have been a little aggressive of a run for right after. :( On the other hand, I did get to watch the entirety of "Bring It On". Where are my pompoms?!
    11/13 2 @ 13ish walk/running the dog for my recovery run.
    11/14 Rest day

    11/15 4.5 @ 11:18 in the neighborhood--it was a gorgeous day for a run!
11/16 5.0 @ 10:51 around the lake trail--my fastest outdoor run yet, in spite of a slow start. The 4th mile split was 9:44!!!!!!!OMG!!!
    11/17 3.5 @ 10:32 (really 3 @ 10:17 and .5 at 12:00) on the treadmill, and strength training
    11/18 7.5 @ 12:06 on the park trail (really 7 @ 11:53 and .5 at a walk)
    11/19 3.25 @ 11:18 on the treadmill (really 3 at 10:56 and .25 at a walk)
    11/20 5.0 @ average 11:59 (intervals) plus strength training
    11/21 Rest Day

11/22 Rest Day to celebrate my baby girl's 11th birthday
    11/23 4.75 @ 12:06 (4 @ 11:30, .75 at a walk) on the park trail with Wooly Dog. Feeling yuck. :(
    11/24 Travel/head cold day
11/25 5 @ 12:01 on the Perkiomen trail with the Wooly Dog who is afraid of deer. Beautiful, and I'm feeling a lot better today and looking forward to Thanksgiving with the family tomorrow.
11/26 Ate too much pie and did nothing useful but had a lovely time!
11/27 Only ate a *little* too much pie and enjoyed the family's first trip to a Christmas tree farm to pick out and bring home a "real" tree. My kids were enthralled! Again, no running. But a good day anyway--we brought home a beast of a tree--over 9 feet tall!--to fit my aunt's two-story family room ceiling.
11/28 5 @ 11:30 on the Perkiomen trail--it was a good run, although slow at the beginning with tight knees.
11/29 Just a long, boring drive home experiencing the joys of 95 South

11/30 8 @ 11:32 Finished out the month and *just* squeaked in for my goal with a long, long treadmill run on a rainy day

This morning on the way to work I passed a transmission place and they had a sign out front "We have pumpkin spice transmission fluid!"

    Haha, that's awesome!

@MrsKGrady - nice picture! I love the snow, but I don't know if I'd want to run in it ;)
@kristinegift - I get foot cramps with both the bike and the elliptical
@skippygirlsmom - Yay for you and Skip!!

Definitely didn't hit my goal this month. Would have gotten much closer or barely hit it if I hadn't gotten this cold. Hoping to get out today for a slow run to get back into it now that the cold is a little better. I can breathe through my nose with medications, so that's better than a few days ago when even the meds couldn't touch the symptoms.

@dharwood68 - here is my shitzu mix. I don't think he could go 1/2 a mile with me. Amazed yours can! I am thinking of getting a running dog partner one of these days. But it would have to be able to stand the Florida heat.
The rescue place suggested a Rhodesian Ridgeback because they are from Africa, but I think they said that because they had a bunch of puppies of that breed ready to be rescued. I can't get one until school's out, so I will be home to train him/her.

@ddmom0811 so adorable, my little lady begs to go with me as soon as I am putting on my shoes. She loves to run (speed walk is what she does) She has been sore lately so I haven't taken her with me. I am dealing with planter fasciitis for over a week now. The rest has done some good.

I have been a major slacker this month, getting in only 41 miles of my 85 mile goal. No regrets though, as I've been busy with two hunting trips, a trip to see my daughter in college, getting my mom's house ready for sale, and of course, Thanksgiving. Including this coming weekend, I'll have spent 11 of 13 weekends out of town!
