7 km run with one member of our club, one of the fastest runners in our area.
5:35/km on first 3.5 km. 5:45 on last 3.5 km. I usually do around 6:00/km on my runs so this was really pushing it, surprised I could manage it after 11 days of fighting a cold and 6 days of no exercise, unless you call coughing until your ribs hurt exercise. A little swim yesterday and a run today - Feels good to get a little exercise in, but definitely felt like a bit of a Christmas Slug. Was hoping to go Night Skiing on our local hill but they are on "Limited Terrain" = poor conditions due to no snow.

    12/01 - 0.0 Km – 0.0km – 140.0 Km – – YTD – 514.4 km
    12/02 – 7.0 Km – 7.0km – 133.0 Km – – YTD
    12/04 – 5.0 Km – 12.0km – 128.0 Km – – YTD ( GP run with new kicks )
    12/04 – 7.0 Km – 19.0km – 121.0 Km – – YTD ( Home run with old kicks )
    12/06 – 7.5 Km – 26.5km – 113.5 Km – – YTD
    12/07 –10.5 Km – 37.0km – 103.0 Km – – YTD
    12/08 –6.0 Km – 43.0km – 97.0 Km – – YTD
    12/09 –8.5 Km – 51.5km – 88.5 Km – – YTD
    12/10 –2.0 Km – 53.5km – 86.5 Km – – YTD
    12/12 –14.0 Km – 67.5km – 72.5 Km – – YTD
    12/13 –7.0 Km – 74.5km – 65.5 Km – – YTD
    12/15 –11.5 Km – 86.0km – 54.0 Km – – YTD
    12/17 –7.0 Km – 93.0km – 47.0 Km – – YTD
    12/23 –7.0 Km – 100.0km – 40.0 Km – – YTD – 7.0 + 607.9 = 614.9Km

    Total- 152.40
    Goal- none stated

Today's notes - On this group run, I need to stick with a leader because I don't know the routes and I'm not terribly familiar with this part of town. Part of today's route was over a trail, in the dark. It wasn't terribly technical, but there were roots and logs to avoid. That made me a bit nervous, but I survived without banging up an ankle, so it's okay. The first five miles were toward the slow end of my easy range, then I kind of knew where I was and followed some of the faster runners. This week, they didn't take off too fast for me as has happened in the past; but it wouldn't have mattered, because I could find my way back from the 5 mile mark. This is the second evening in a row running in shorts and a tee; can't beat that the week of the winter solstice!

    Upcoming races:
Jan. 1, 2016 Resolution Run 7.5 mile (Mendon, NY)
Jan. 9, 2016 Winter Warrior Half Marathon (Rochester, NY)
April 18, 2016 Boston Marathon (Hopkinton, MA)

VERY hot today! 83 right now. If I wasn't doing this streak, I would have never thought I could have run in this heat. Yeah, I know, I do live in Florida, but I normally run at 4:30am, so even in August it's not 83 with 100% humidity at that time. But, I did it! In fact, I was shocked to see I ran the mile in 10 minutes - fast for me unless I'm doing a race or it's much cooler out!

Got new shoes in the mail yesterday and they seem to have a big drop. I was quite conscientious during my one mile to make sure I wasn't heel striking. I have 90 days to return them so will have to see when I do a longer run.... tomorrow!

Also, 30 year anniversary for my husband and I today! That's my son in my profile picture with me when he got married a couple weeks ago -and I realized he looks exactly like my husband did 30 years ago, lol. One guy on the bike ride this morning is celebrating 50 years of marriage next year and another 47! And these two old guys were kicking my butt on the bike when we were coming back in a strong headwind! Their wives don't ride though.

I have decided that I'm going to pretend I'm in Florida...at Disney World. Sure. That's it! I'm anticipating my HM in February...Except it probably won't even be this disgustingly humid then.

@MorningGhost14 I didn't realize those were yours...I'd seen them as I went through a bunch of older threads when I first started running. I love running for the zen, too, and your post really resonated with me. And your shoe post makes me cry. Every time. Bless your mom.

12/1 3.5 @ 11:17 on the treadmill plus strength training
12/2 5.25 @ 11:04 on the treadmill. Oh my heck, please let it be sunny tomorrow. Or at least not so wet.
12/3 4.75 @ 12:03 on the park trail with the doggy. Yay! Sunshine!
    12/4 3.5 @ 11:03 (really 3.25 at 10:48, plus .25 at a walk) on the treadmill, plus strength training
12/5 3 miles hiking with the cub scouts :)

12/6 Woke up feeling sore from Friday's strength training, so took a rest day
12/7 9.25 @ 12:26 on the park trail, nice and easy
    12/8 3.75 @ 10:48 on the treadmill (3.5 at 10:39, .25 walk), plus stretch/yoga
    12/9 5.25 @ 11:32 on the treadmill
12/10 Sort of rest day? Trip to Colonial Williamsburg with my daughter's history class. Lots of walking!
    12/11 6.25 @ 11:18 on the treadmill.
    12/12 Rest Day

    12/13 3.25 @ 10:10 (5K race chip time 32:06--I finished 191/395 women 30/64 in my age group)
    12/14 7.25 @ 12:03 (7 @ 11:57 and .25 walking) on the park trails
12/15 2.0 @ 10:29 on the treadmill and strength training
    12/16 5.0 @ 11:49 on the park trail
12/17 Rest Day. It is cold and wet and my back hurts from present wrapping. Bah humbug.
    12/18 6.0 on the treadmill (5 @ 11:40 and 1 walking) plus strength training
    12/19 Rest day

12/20 Sick day -- I seem to have developed the creepin' crud
12/21 8 @ 12:00 on the treadmill (7 at 11:34 and 1 mile at a walk) breathing ok, but still feeling tired
12/22 4 @ 12:00 on the treadmill and strength training
    12/23 3.5 @ 10:13 on the treadmill
12/24 2.25 @ 13ish outside in the drippy-drippy rain and humidity. With the slowest dog on earth. Who has been stuck inside because of the rain and needed to get rid of 3 days worth of...stuff. And needed to chase *all* the squirrels. Ugh. I think I actually ran pretty well when I was actually, you know, running.

@ddmom0811 Happy Anniversary!!!!!!! And congratulations on the 10 min mile! I'm still in the high 13's with my miles so your 10 thrills me for you!

I still have a migraine but it's not nearly as bad today as yesterday. I just did the math (using my phone cuz I'm bad at it otherwise), I could still make this month's goal even with the forced day of rest. And the mileage needed isn't crazy at all. Woot woot! And I forget who asked the question, but yes, I'm going to be running on Christmas day too

***Last year my grandkids and I did the Graffiti Run. It was my first attempt at any kind of running and it was a joke. But we all had a blast. We are doing it again in April. I'm trying to surprise them with their registration in their stockings tomorrow. My question for the community is--- can you help with a name for our team? If I ask the kids, obviously it won't be a surprise. They call me Memaw (it's a southern thing even though we're all in Colorado now) and I thought of Memaw's Munchkins (we are all pretty short and one of the kids is actually on growth hormones right now) but I'm afraid that team name will embarrass them when they become teenagers. The oldest will turn 12 just before the race, so that concern is in the near future. Any ideas???

Made some doggie friends (all behind their invisible fences, except one who was on his way to the car and instead decided to say hello to a stranger -- a super soft Poodle mix, I was in love). I also conquered the gigantic hill again; every time, looking up from the bottom, it's intimidating as ever, but now I know I can make it to the top without walking and I'm more determined to repeat the feat. Despite less wind than usual, the air felt really cold in my lungs today. Hoping the gaiter I asked for is under the tree & ready for opening tomorrow!

    5/1/2016: New Jersey Marathon

    Total- 157.43
    Goal- none stated

Today's notes - On Christmas Eve Morning, the local Fleet Feet sponsors the Egg Nog Jog. You go run 2, 3, or 5 miles then come back to the store for cookies and egg nog. Most of the participants have slower paces than I do, but a Boston training buddy showed up and we ran together. He put in 3 miles first, I only ran the 5. It felt like it wasn't long enough to be a real run, so I must be about ready to start my training program!

There was a strong W wind, the weather feed claims 27 mph; but at 59° F, that's not such a big deal. I've been able to run in shorts and a tee shirt 3 days in a row now - December 22, 23, and 24, in upstate NY. Can't beat this weather!

The training week stands at 19.7 miles, a little light for now; but I have routes for 13, 20, or 22 miles Saturday. Current plan is to honor the scheduled rest day tomorrow, and run 20 miles Saturday. Then another short run on Sunday will bring the training week in right about where I want it. Tomorrow's running task is to sort out my Boston training schedule for things I don't understand, and make sure I understand what I'll be doing next week.

    Upcoming races:
Jan. 1, 2016 Resolution Run 7.5 mile (Mendon, NY)
Jan. 9, 2016 Winter Warrior Half Marathon (Rochester, NY)
April 18, 2016 Boston Marathon (Hopkinton, MA)

I haven't been able to run all week, I've just accepted it as I've basically lived at our store all week. But I am excited about furthering my running goals next year and will be able to get back to running on Monday.

Today is 6 months since my dad passed, so I'm trying to stay focused on the joy of Christmas! Merry Christmas to you all! Enjoy the loved ones you have here, and peace to those of you missing loved ones this Christmas season!

I have completely slacked on catching up on posts but the app sucks for navigating the forums. Anyway, little mileage update just so I can keep track. I promise I will be able to interact more after the Holiday...

    Previous progress toward goal- 13.8/20

    12/21- 1.6
    12/22- 1.2
    12/24- 3.1

    Current progress toward goal- 19.7/20

I feel confident, with two more run days before the end of the month, that I will hit my goal. Excited to be able to say I traveled over 20 miles by foot in a month. I know it would be small potatoes to many of you here but I also know many of you started with small goals too. Yay!
