Good Morning, All....Today is a day for church staff evaluations. Most of them will be good; however, there is one I'm not looking forward to. My minister and I don't see eye to eye of this person. She makes too many mistakes, but he overlooks them. Hmmm Surgery is Wednesday. Have a great day everyone. Breakfast is tracked!!!!!!

My personal goal: DRINK WATER, EAT LESS.

    Bert

It sounds like you are planning to surgically remove this person from your life.... ;)

Good morning ladies, wow my life has been a struggle, been going through some crazy stuff but things are slowing down for now. This disability thing is a pain in my bum. Anyway I'm back at trying to lose weight. I'm doing low carb, good carb diet. Eating lots of proteing and veggies, cutting out breads, pastas and rice. Now that I found your thread I'll be around :)

My niece is starting into labor, I'll be a great aunt soon!!! I'm super excited. Her contractions are 15 minutes apart and she is doing fine.

My body isn't cooperating so well in the colk frigid air. Brrr a balmy 17 here right now. Lol

I will be back later I need to do a few things.

Patti - peanut butter used to be on my "never eat" list because of the fat, but its SO GOOD! and satisfying too!

Diane - yes, you can put in recipes. Its actually not too hard, it just takes some patience.

Janet - great success story! its amazing how easy it is to gain a bit!

Karla - I love scrabble. its one game that I can consistently smoke my husband. (thank you words with friends!)

Bert - good luck with surgery!

Cindy - port roast sounds delish! braving the scale after the holidays was really hard!!

So, got some laundry to do and then off to the gym: lifting and yoga. Hope everyone has a great tuesday!

Mornin' y'all! It's bright and very chilly 25 here in OKC. We slept in this morning since we were up so late last night watching the OU men and Kansas play a 3 overtime thriller. Unfortunately, KUncame put on top, but the Sooners gave 'em all they wanted and then some. It's just dang tough to beat those Jayhawks at home!

I got things un-Christmased yesterday, but there are still boxes all over the back porch. Today we'll decide whether those get put in the attic or hauled back to the barn. Today's exercise will be walking. I'm pretty sore this morning, in a good way, from yoga yesterday.

Have a great day gang and I'll type at you later!

Hello and nice to see you all here this morning,
Just makes me smile to see all the postings and how positive everyone is. Love welcoming new friends and welcoming home some we have missed.

Heading to Mom's, we have lots to catch up on. Haven't seen her since Christmas day, but we have talked every few days. I am still feeling so very blessed to have her near me. Had a great idea in the shower, where I do my most creative thinking, and decided I am going to have a surprise birthday party for her. She will be 86 March 3rd and I remember her telling me she has never had a birthday party of her own. Has had group birthday parties over the years but not one that was just for her. I will probably have it here and will invite the family and my Yaya's. She has no friends here in town but I know she will just be over the moon to have a party just for her. I am all excited to put this together. Now need to come up with a great theme.

Better get running here but I will be back this afternoon

Hello! I hope I can join this group. It looks like a friendly one.

My name is Ginny. I am 63 years old and work nights as a Respiratory Therapist. I have done that for 43 years now. I am married and my husband has lost 45 pounds on MFP and has been on maintenance for over two years now. We are empty nesters, with two girls, ages 43 and 32. No grandkids,

I am not new to MFP, but I have not been on the boads consistently. I think that should change. I have lost 119 pounds in the last 16 months and still have 42 pounds to go. So, not in the over 50 club anymore, but I have been there for a long time and still need the support. I have stayed off the main boards for awhile due to a lot of bashing over there. This seems so much more positive. I also chat with my MFP "friends" a lot on my Home Page.

My goals at this point are mostly behavior based. I need to continue to track everything I put in my mouth, to get in my daily 10,000 steps and the big one this yer - to begin weights! However, a knee injury and other issues has me sidelined from too much physical activity right now, but as soon as the doc agrees I plan to be back at it. In the meantime, I will continue to do what I have doe for the past 16 months and track all of my calories and stay within my base calories until my activity levels allow for a bit more.

    Have a wonderful day!

Ginny - what weightlifting program are you going to follow? You have accomplished so much already, but I think you will pleased with how weightlifting can help you get to your goal!

I went to the gym and got in a great workout...short treadmill to warm up, good lifting session and then yoga. Exercise makes it easier to meet the calorie goal.

Wow, our little community is really growing. I am Judy, retired with my husband, Fred. We have a daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters who live next door to us here in Southwestern Michigan. Our son, his wife and two grandsons live in Pembroke Pines, Fl...just north of Miami. I sew, machine embroider, and quilt for hobbies. I also have a cute little Westie, Rudy. I have been a lifetime Member of WW for many years. Down to goal at least three times, then same old story, gain it all back and more. I am heavier now than I have ever been and my health is suffering.

Welcome Ginny, so nice you found us. We are a very friendly, non bashing, group. You have done amazing and I feel honored that you will share the last leg of your journey with us. I agree with Lisa about weight training and how it will help. I do TRX twice a week and it has really made a huge difference in my body, if I had my eating under control it would have helped with losing too, lol.

Paula, nice to see you back with us. Wish you didn't have to suffer so with the MS. Congrats on becoming a great aunt.

I am a 61 y/o retired Critical Care Nurse/Case Manager. Married with 3 adult children 46, 45 and 42. 4 grands 28, 24, 23 and 19. 2 greatgrands 6&7. 1 Great dane at home still, lol. Been on and off WW for years, gained and lost more than I care to admit and now have 30-40 to lose to get to my goal (haven't quite decided where I will land for maintenance). Have a cabin on the Ohio River and we travel quite a bit by motorcycle, some by RV and lots by car.

Back from a nice long visit with Mom. We never seem to run out of things to talk about. I kept thinking about her birthday party and how surprised and happy she will be. Now I need to get ready to be killed at the gym. Have not worked out in 2 weeks so will go at my own speed in TRX and not get caught up with how much ground I have lost. It's a new year, a new me and a new determination to get to goal and get there as a healthy, happy person.

Even more new people! Welcome Ginny, we're sure glad to have you. Since we're doing introductions...

My name is Suzi and I live just outside Oklahoma City with Dave, my significant other and Laci, my aged, senile fox terrier. Dave and I have 3 grown girls between us 31, 24 and 23. I'm a lifelong Okie who has lived all but a few months of my life right here in Oklahoma County. I mostly retired from a 38 year career in banking last March and we've picked up the travel schedule. We have a small lake home in south central OK and spend quite a bit of time there - especially spring through fall. When we're not home or at the lake, we travel in our small RV. My favorite things are gardening at home and photography when traveling.

Up until about age 38, when I took up eating M&M's to console myself while going through a bad divorce, I was "yardstick with feet" skinny and very athletic. I joined WW and achieved goal weight and lifetime status in 2007, losing approximately 50 pounds and kept it off for about 4 years. A 6-month course of anti-depressants following my Dad's death in 2010 helped me cope with grief, but also helped me resume emotional eating and not caring about the consequences. I've taken turns at sincerely trying to lose and fooling myself about my eating behavior ever since. Things have improved over the past 9 or 10 months and I'm down about 13 pounds and several inches from last January. It sounds like slow progress, and it is, but I feel like I can easily live with the changes I've made to make this a true lifestyle change.

Hi, all. Paula, so good to see you here!

Ginny, welcome. You've found a great spot for support and conviviality.

Patti, love the surprise party idea. Your mom will be thrilled.

My yesterday was one of sparse eating - only 14 grams of fiber. Today, 24. I also take fiber capsules morning and night. Going to work on getting more tomorrow and beyond. I have stayed within my calorie limit both days though.

Managed to stay busy all day. Cleaner was here and I did small, insignificant things that needed doing. Took it a bit easy and going to bed early. See you all upon the morrow.

Hello all. Karla, please make my goal TRACK ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING I EAT. I'm going to focus on tracking for now, and not worry quite so much about what I am eating. I just need to get back in the rhythm of recording everything I eat, and at some point the numbers will draw me back to healthier eating.

That said, I did remember some cheese sticks that I ate yesterday that I hadn't tracked, so that took me over my calories for the day. Today I was not supposed to be home for dinner, so hubby and daughter planned pizza, then I made it home after all. Calorie-wise I'm still in the green, but oh the sodium! Dominoes is the worst.

I looked at my fiber - 18 gr yesterday, and 28 gr today. What is our goal?

Since we are doing introductions, I am Diane, age 55, live in Maryland between DC and Annapolis. Married for 32 years to my best friend and soulmate. One son, 26 and married and living about 20 minutes from us. One daughter, 23, living with us and searching for what to do with herself. I work for the Navy in DC as an engineer/ program manager, as does hubby. We will retire a year from now, and we can't wait!

I didn't get to the gym this morning because I had a doctor's appointment for a physical mid-morning. So instead I went early to the mall right by the doctor's office and walked for about 30 minutes. It's just too cold outside for a walk! 14 F when I got up this morning. My usual routine is to get up and drive to the city and go to the gym before work.

Looks like I really need to work on the fiber. 15 yesterday and 16gms today. I think the goal is 21 to 25+. I think I need to start adding some beans in somewhere. Edd is not a big fan so will have to find something that we both like that I can make and just add beans to my portion.
TRX went way better than I thought it would, but I think she took it easy on us, no floor work, but I bet I will be sore tomorrow. I WILL get the decorations down and put away and get everything put back in place tomorrow.

Lisa, ahhhh..... Guess I wasn't paying very close attention.

Sorry gang, I'm still tracking with WW, so don't know my fiber grams. However, I am very happy to report that I've tracked absolutely everything today. One day at a time, as the saying goes. Now that I type that (smacking self in the head) that's really all it takes - just minding my business every day one day at a time. I don't have to think about doing it the rest of my life; I just have to do it for today. Holy moly! Is that all it takes to get over my aversion to tracking!?!

I went to bed way too early and here I am up at 2:30a. I have been laying awake in bed the last 40 minutes trying to get back to sleep. I finally removed myself from bed to come see what all of you are up to. LOL.

TT: I am glad I am not the only one that the fiber is running low. I was 16 on Monday and 21 on Tuesday. I know that is what the "F" in our Fit is all about, so thought I should see if we are all really focusing on it. I will be going to the grocery store today after my doctor appointment, and will stock up on foods with fiber.

Suzi- I don't know why we fight the tracking, but some of us do. I think it is like a penance on us sometimes, when really it isn't that difficult. That is one of the downfalls of the tracking with WW, you do see the nutirient content briefly when you track it (that box shows it) but there is not tally of it or grid to show you grand totals, you could write it down everytime you tracked before that box disappears, I tried doing that once but it was a pain.

Bert - I tried the other day myself to find the nutrients on the phone app and I didn't find them either. How was your fiber on the computer?

Lisa- My nutritionist recommended 21 per day minimal. I don't think this nutrient is like sugar, sodium and calories where you can have too much though. Janet has wanted us to focus on fiber, and we all agreed, as a healthy part of your food plan, plus it helps keep you full and your digestion regulated.

Diane- I did not realize you were only 55yo, for some reason I was thinking you were a couple years older. I enjoy the pictures of your hiking on FB. Good for you on tracking. Have you put this app on your phone? I find it easier to track the food on the phone.

Patti- I'm glad you enjoyed your TRX. I meant to mention your mother the other day as you had not mentioned her lately. I am sure she will be thrilled about her surprise party when she gets there. Have you heard from Susie since Christmas? Does she like to exercise? That would be a fun Mother-Daughter activity to share with your Zumba and TRX. Most young people really like the two, and most older adults avoid them. LOL. I like Zumba, but wouldn't dream of trying the TRX contraption with my bone structure. You go girl.

Well, my eye is starting to burn, so I better get off here. It is always so dry when I have been sleeping. The doctor said it was because when our lids are closed for periods of time the moisture level is down. He said that "blinking" is what brings the moisture down in the eyes. I do feel like my eye is better though, overall, and I am able to drive better at night now.

    Okay, off to bed,

    Karla

Karla, looks like I'm taking the next part of the zero dark thirty shift.

    Thinking of Bert today.

To find the fiber tally on the phone app:

Go to your food diary for the day. Scroll to the bottom. At lower left is a pie chart icon and the word "nutrition." Touch that. On the screen that comes up you see calories, but on upper right is the word "nutrients." Touch that and you'll see nutrition info for the day, including fiber.

Another feature I've found (I could be the last to discover this) - fastest way to get here is to star this thread. After that, when you go to "Community" there's a star icon on the top bar. Touch that and you get a list of your starred threads and boom - you're here.

Anyone find good shortcuts here? Please share.

It always bugged me that WW didn't show nutrition info in a transparent fashion. Glad MFP does.

I am so happy that our number has grown with the return of old friends and the addition of new ones. If we stay accountable to ourselves (tracking it all, one day at a time) and each other - and share what's working and what needs work for each of us, we can make this *the* year of great progress. Carpe diem!

I am surprised that I am not sore this am after lifting yesterday...I was achey all afternoon and evening and I thought it would really hit me today, but no.

today, I am going to do a bit of yoga at home (need to take my daughter to a dentist appt, so not hot yoga for me) and then soccer tonight.

    Good morning ladies,

My niece is in the hospital. Went around 10 last night. I'm super excited to become a great aunt. I'll be heading to hospital as soon as I get my shower.

I'm not really tracking on here either, so not sure of my fiber. I am staying low carb, good carb. Hoping eliminating all processed foods will help me feel better all around.

So nice to see so many here. I'm still trying to get use to this community versus ww community lol it is very different. I'll learn it though.

How often do you start a new thread or do you keep same one? What's the easiest way to find the thread? I'll figure it all out a little at a time but if you all can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Well I'm going to shower and head to hospital. Have a great day.

    Good morning ladies,
What's the easiest way to find the thread? I'll figure it all out a little at a time but if you all can help it would be greatly appreciated.
there is a star at the right of the title of the thread. If you click on it, it will become yellow. If you look higher to the right (on line with message board: challenges) you can click on it and find all the threads you've "bookmarked" with a yellow star.

My name is Myra, and I would like to join this thread too. I don't have time to read through all the other posts right now, but i will make time later and then tell you more about me. have a great day, all!

Another late start for me. I am so hooked on Reign that I lose all track of time and the next thing I know it is after 2am, about the time Karla got up today, lol.

Myra, welcome to the group. Looking forward to getting to know you better as you join in the conversation.

Lisa, I thought I would be sore too but feeling pretty good. My gym doesn't offer hot yoga, not sure I could do it as I already get overheated and sweaty with little effort.

Paula, can't wait to hear the good news. Praying all goes well for your niece. We keep the thread going. No real need to restart. You will notice that when you check it you are taken to where you left of, no need to scroll back and find your place. You can also add pictures, change your font or type style, and so much more. Plus there is no character limit to your post.

Janet, you seem to be our resident site guru or computer gal here. Since I eat pretty much the same breakfast I do like using the quick add feature that lets me copy yesterday or any date options. I do miss the drop and drag favorites list from WW but am not really missing much else. The tracking is getting easier the more I use it.

Today is a home work project day. UnChristmas the house, do laundry, change sheets and that should take me up to Zumba time.

Karla, TRX is more about core strength than anything else. Much easier on the bones and joints than lifting weights. I have issues with my right knee, left shoulder and left wrist. The trainer gives modifications for every more and is constantly watching to make sure our form is correct. The hardest thing for me is the push ups, but I have difficulty even if I don't use the TRX. I truly believed I could not do this class and if my WOB (workout buddy for those who are new) had not pushed me I never would have even tried. What I have found is that by strengthening my muscles my joints are more protected and I am able to do a lot of moves that caused me pain in the beginning. The biggest lesson I have learned since joining the gym is you never know until you try.

Speaking of trying, there are some new classes at the gym this quarter that I may be trying out. I'm getting a bit bored with Zumba. The classes are so late that I have ended up skipping them for a variety of reasons, some of them legit, most of them not. My WOB is in the same place and I think we need a kick start for the New Year. I am going to see if she wants to try at least one new class this quarter. My TRX instructor highly recommends 2 of them so will start there.

My daughter told me last night that she is joining the gym near her house. She wants to lose 50 pounds this year. I wish we lived closer to each other so we could take some classes together. But I have a feeling she is going to do the machines, probably start on the treadmill or eliptical. I offered her my help if she needs it. She knows I have been going to the gym for a while now and I don't want her to feel intimidated or like she can't keep up. I know that is how I felt when I first started working out at the gym. It is a very scary thing the first time you walk thru those doors, see all the equipment and all the people already working out. Then after a bit you realize nobody is looking at you, they are engrossed in themselves. Once you figure that out, it makes going so much easier. I know she has a bicycle and lives very near the bike path, so this spring I am hoping for riding time with her.

My how I do go on, sorry ladies, I will stop my chatter for now.

Paula, if you concentrate on avoiding processed stuff and get lots of fruits & veggies you'll do well on fiber. We can keep this thread running as long as we want and when you click on it, it should take you to new posts. It actually has lots more functionality than WW boards. Just different.

Hello group!! Welcome Myra! I wonder if we have lost RuthAnn?

Patti- are you and your Mom watching Downtown Abbey? I didn't realize it started back last Sunday. I am re-watching it right now!! Riding bikes with your daughter in the spring sounds divine. I love being outdoors and I hope Glenn and I will get out walking soon. We also have a week in Destin in April and they have great bike trails on the resort. We have a rake to put on our car to take them with us. Fun times with the grandkids too.

Janet- I don't know why I couldn't get back to sleep last night. Just so much on my mind I guess.

Bert- Prayers for you, but I know you are in good hands.

Paula- I am a great aunt myself and he is like a grandson to me. Congrats!

Lisa- You sound like a really active person. My BFF takes Hot Yoga sometimes. We are fixing up one of our spare rooms as a mini gym this weekend.

Diane- I will add your mini goal. So glad you are back.

Cindy- You sound like you are on the run!

I have client work this afternoon, so I better run. I will also let you all know when I hear from Bert.

Oh, and I have completed the 30 Minute Burn dvd two days in a row, tracked and been right at my calorie goals. I purchased fiber foods today and more healthy choices.

    Tootles,
