Mindy: Unmentionables can be excellent NSV's. Congratulations! :flowerforyou:

    janetr: Cute pups!

Carol in NC: Your medical checkup sounds like it went very well. WTG!

Grits: Great NSV at the taylor's shop! You are doing so well!

Alison: Good news from your brother. I hope things continue to go well for him. :flowerforyou:

Mbrown: I have come to like Malheur County. We have relatives there on both sides of the family. DH grew up there. :flowerforyou:

Barbie: I love this quote, "Strategy is stronger than will power. " It has been so true in my experience. I am particularly pleased to have some strategies for eating out with friends and family. I've learned how to fit in socially and still stay on track. My favorite eating out strategies for lunches includes ordering half a sandwich and green salad with dressing on the side. I leave the table satisfied and not overstuffed. The scale doesn't even notice.

Yoga tomorrow with one of my favorite teachers! Yay! My Saturday riding lesson has been postponed until Sunday morning. It will be earlier than I'm used to because Sundays are busy & we're trying to avoid the crowd. I hope it works. I've gotten rather spoiled and usually have the arena to myself.

    5. Eliminate alcohol.
    6. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.

Did 50 min of a Biggest Loser Powersculpt DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do exercises in the water.

After exercising, gave Loki his med, volunteered at the Green Room, then went to Aldi, then stopped at Kohl's and got a pair of boots I saw yesterday. They don't say they are waterproof but we have this spray and hopefully, that'll make them at least somewhat waterproof. For as much as I wear them down here, $22 is plenty to spend. Have Newcomer bowling tonight

Made a chocolate cake for Vince. I think I should have let it cool in the pan a bit longer since it stuck to the pan somewhat. Instead of the oil I used silken tofu. You KNOW that I won't be telling Vince that! Did 2 loads of laundry today. Guess I got most of the water out of the hot water heater so now what comes out of the tap should be OK.

After exercise tomorrow, I'll stop at Bi-Lo to get items on sale and maybe some clementines. Then I want to stop at the new WalMart just to see what it's like and what they have.

Lenora - doing a happy dance for you, too (hey, it also burns off calories!)

krkatiebug - Yea for snapping your bra smaller

sammysumo - where in PA did you move to? We moved to NC from PA

    Welcome everyone new!

Love all the pics, especially of the cats

    Katla - cute joke!

    Mindy - great NSV!!!

DJ - not every Lowes Foods sells beer. Just this one. I suspect they might be doing it mainly to get an edge on the fact that Publix is coming in

Mindy - I agree, stay in touch with your lender. That will make you look so good in their eyes, even if you don't pay the full amount

Does anybody remember the name of the person who came here who was from Denver, NC? I'd like to get in touch with her, and unfortunately I didn't friend her at the time.

Mindy - good thoughts being sent to your daughter

kimses - happy birthday to your son

Had Newcomer bowling tonight. Tomorrow there is a social for the Newcomers.

So I missed yesterday, so only made a few notes – all the newbies – welcome!!!!! I have been busy and today, after walking 3 miles and then gardening at a clients – expected to be there 3 hours, so I’d be home for lunch – turned out to be there 4 ½ hours, was starving but keep reminding myself – out loud in the car – that you all would want me to just go home no stopping for some crappy food. I got home! And had spinach feta pie for lunch!!!! Yeah me! Teaching cooking tomorrow to my private client, so better head out to the store, need to pick up some items for tomorrows recipes.

    Hi there!
Well, I succeeded in getting a new phone, SIM only deal and I bought the phone. It wasn't expensive and it has a good camera. I think the memory is going to be a problem before too long, but it's OK at the moment and sooooooo much quicker than my old one. Some things haven't come across, like saved texts and notes, but all contacts and photos are on there. Same number. Basically I'm happy - ish. :)
The whole operation took hours as my account was locked and the whole shopping centre had three power surges while I was there. I was really jolted on the escalator. The lifts were out, doors wouldn't open, I had to go via back stairs! Of course the phone company 's computers were knocked out for ages so I had to leave and come back again. Eventually, after many frustrating tries, the very nice young man completed my transaction.

I was so deaf throughout. Horrible. This morning I woke up to a flood of wax coming out of my ear, so I hope the drops are working.

My brother was not in a good way. I think his diabetes is getting to him. He looks very pale. He now has to inject insulin etc. His wife is also under stress from work and obesity. It was good to see them though. He cooked something. I enjoyed seeing the teenagers after nearly ten months. The girl is going to NYC with her school photography group. ! ! !

    Love, Heather UK

I needed that kind of resolve yesterday, went off the rails and ate impulsive, unplanned junk food. Feel lousy, logged it and going to walk and eat right today. One step, one bite at a time.

I am having a bit of worry, and I dont how to handle it,Tom and I were over at the car dealership yesterday afternoon and all of a sudden his face up near his ear started bleeding, probably nicked it shaving, but worried me is it wouldn't stop.. was really coming out.. he went to the rest room and tried cleaning it off and we put a band aid on it and it finally stopped, but this was highly unusual. also he has been getting purple splotches o his hands and arms ,more bleeding under the skin, he is blowing it off, and the GP said of the spotches thats just old age... but I just dont think so..
He wont do anything about going to the dr.

Sounds like his blood may be too thin and won't clot. Call the doctor. That could be/become very serious.

Also watch for changes in vision, bleeding in the eyes, small red dots on the shins. Possibly caused by a wrong dosage of certain medicines, such as warfarin (common for heart conditions) regular aspirin consumption, or a blood disease affecting the platelets, such as Leukemia.

I've known people in each of those situations. One experienced a small stroke, and is now not allowed to drive, one had internal bleeding, others were cautioned to watch specifically for his symptoms because of the risk of unstoppable bleeding.

If he's on a blood thinner, such as warfarin, or regularly taking aspirin, correcting a dosage takes time. Its not instant, so he shouldn't delay.

If he won't get checked, at least call a doctor or a medical helpline if you have one available. If nothing else, you may be reassured or be able to form a plan of action.

Cracker sleeps alone; but, she sleeps right beside my chair in her bed. Oh goodness, to have my cell phone by my chair and ‘on’. She sometimes rolls over on her back and sleeps. It is so funny. She also rolls over to play with her toys. Last night she was shaking one and threw it up in the air and it landed on one of the chairs and then jumped up to get it down. It cracked up my DH and me. It was like, ‘where did you go, where did you go’?

Mindy – One thing you need to know if you cannot pay your credit card bill, is somethings they freeze or close the account if you are unable to pay the minimum. At least that is what mine told me when I did not think I could pay the minimum charge that also include extra because I had gone over the minimum. I came up with the money because I did not want it closed. But, I also have just one card because I decided to move the balances over to it for one year of ‘interest free’. The only problem with that was the 'transfer fee', which the person helping me failed to advise me of; but, much better to pay the extra than to pay 22.99% interest on 5 different cards. My Dad thought that 3% was too high when credit cards came out and were giving them to anybody – even ‘if’ they could not pay. He represented several people in filing bankruptcy because they had maxed out 5 or more of them. But, of course, he's been dead since 1985 and things have certainly changed a whole lot.

Katla – Thanks; I’ll be wearing my other pants because my jeans are falling off me. So, I need to wash a load of my clothes today to have something to fit me. I need to wash clothes even ‘if’ they were not all in the dirty closes. One more cabinet on the bottom and the drawers and I’ll be finished with the lower cabinet space. Something either got turned over or it came through and it is sticky really bad; so I might have to pour warm (hot) water in the tray to get it out. YUK. I was washing down the cabinets and my DH came in and said I looked like a 'plumber' with my butt crack showing. Will give me a chance to go through the boxes/cans to make sure they are ‘in date’. Checking my freezer and cabinets is the first thing my DYS does when he is home. I need to get the stuff out of my house. But, there is probably little I will have to throw out, this time. I need to rearrange my freezer, too. Not really looking forward to that. I have the Marie Kondo book ‘on hold’ at the local library so when they get it back in, I can check it out. I’m going to go through all my clothes and keep the stuff that needs to be altered in one drawer. I hate thinking about cleaning my closet. So much in such a small closet.

jalapenotech – You’re here, so you have joined. Just need to remember that barbiecat posts a link on the last day of the month so you can ‘bookmark’ the new month by going to the page after you have followed the link and click on the outline of the star, so it will turn yellow. The next time you come back, click on the gray star between the gray bell and gray gear; and, then you will be posting in the correct month; it will throw down a list of sites, maybe this one and any others you have gone to recently.

Grandmallie – Does your husband happen to take any type of ‘blood thinners’? Has he started taking any kind of ‘new’ meds? They can cause bleeding, especially under the skin. I’d go back to the MD and explain to him/her what has been happening (especially, if it occurs again). Glad you were able to get it to stop enough to get a band aide on it. I know when I take an 'antibiotic' I bruise a lot and my skin starts feeling really thin; so any time I hit something a big bruise will appear.
