Good afternoon! I'm doing my usual Saturday chores today. I had a great chat with my BFF this morning--we love our Saturday morning chats but she's been going out of town to see her new fella most weekends, so it was really special this morning.
I was playing around on the dating sites yesterday and said "maybe " to a suggestion that popped up. I had been saying no because he lived too far away. Turns out that he is only 30 minutes away and we are meeting for dinner tonight! I'm looking forward to meeting a potential new friend. We'll see how it goes.
I hope everyone has a great Saturday!!

My DDnL#2 told me to buy some 'coconut oil' ... it has so many purposes. Eating, drinking, cooking with it. Maybe in a 'hot' cup of 'something'. Does not melt in cold water ... DUH! I've heard not to pour it or put it in your sinks because I will stop them up. Rubbing in hair only takes a 'smidgen'. If you use too much it makes it greasy; so I have not tried that. Cracker was smelling pretty 'doggie' on Thursday night, so I rubbed a little in her coat. She did not smell doggie until I had the chance to bathe her yesterday. I had to get Louis to come in and rinse, while I held, her. She's gotten a lot stronger and I can't keep her from trying to jump out of the tub. Too cold to wash her under the garden hose. Maybe when it gets warm(er) she will enjoy being washed with water from the hose. He does a better job at washing and making sure there is no soap left on her. I didn't put the soap right on her. In my hands; but, she had a soapy spot that was on a side that I could not hold her and hold the watering can in my left hand. DH washed and rinsed and I held her. I think her running and playing with DOS's dogs have given her a lot of strength and I think getting taller can a problem for me to try to wash her alone. She'd grab at them trying to get her to run after her. She's fast as the wind. Can already outrun his Lab.
Oh, good, DH has rented a 'zombie' movie. I guess, I'll be reading instead. This movie will probably NOT stick. Sometimes he picks movies from the 'not so well-known actors/actresses - they do fine, no sticking; but, if her rents one that we REALLY want to watch ... it sticks. I keep telling him - buy another one.
Thanks for all the comments about my "Cracker". She is so funny! Now throwing her toys.

Hello everyone: Gloomy day today so not working outside with DD. She is working on a project for her Secret Sweetie at work. Doing well so far with food. DH and I are going to a concert tonight in Everett. It is part of a fine arts series at a Presbyterian church there with an instrumental trio playing baroque music.
Kim - love the picture of Levi. He looks like a proper gentleman with his hair parted in the center. Things are just starting to grow here, no flowers yet.
Pip - Nice fence.
Katla - I second the light-weight saddle idea. My DD has a Cordura that she sometimes uses. You might also consider a trail saddle as opposed to a western saddle as they are sometimes lighter. Also check with 4H in your area. They hold a huge used tack consignment sale in Snohomish county and I know they do the same in other areas of the country to raise money. I would not buy a saddle without getting to sit in it first.
Everybody have a good weekend whatever you do. Sue in WA0 -
Lenora - Cracker is so cute! Our little Lacey pup is part Jack Russell terrier and even though she is a"wild child" we love her! Smart little dogs! Lacey weighs 9 pounds now and is learning to follow instructions. I too was a WW member for a few years. I lost 43 pounds then they changed the program. Never made it to goal after the program changed....... I think part of the reason was my favorite group leader retired and then I could never find another class that was not click-ish. I've gained back around 15 pounds. Need to lose 20 pounds. That will make me 155 which is a good weight for me. Still working on that goal.
Becca- congrats on the successful weight loss!
Kjlamore - I'm with you on prepping food for the week. It makes it so much easier to stay on plan.
Going to Olive Garden this evening for grandson's birthday. I'd rather stay home and eat soup. Lots of calories at that place

Lenora~Ohh I love my tub of coconut oil! I put a small finger full in my hand, then cover it with the other hand to melt it. Then I start from my face and massage, (this body takes about 7 finger fulls!) all the way to my toes. It's a mini massage really. If I have dry eyes I put a smidgen on the inside lower lid and blink. I put it up my nose when I feel dry from the weather. I have yet to ingest it though. They say that if you put a small spoonful in your mouth and "Pull" it between your teeth and gums its suppose to be as beneficial as brushing your teeth. But you had to spit it out in your garbage can. It's really only beneficial after doing it for about 20 minutes. And they say, by then, it can dribble out of your mouth a bit....I have things to do darnit! No time for that. hahaha! I like how it soaks into my skin fast. Not just sitting on the surface, like any of the after shower oil based products. I have bought lavender oil (pure) and mixed it with almond oil for a nice after shower deal. It doesnt soak up as quickly as the coconut oil though.
I have yet to cook with coconut oil either. I love my olive oil !
For a great experience put almond oil in your bath, and add some herbal tea packets...(I tie 4 bags altogether) and float in the water. Every so often I squeeze them. Its a great anti-inflammatory remedy. Once when I had a sunburn I used teabags and the pain went out of my skin really quickly. I have also used quick oats in a handkerchief when I had a lot of mosquito bites. Makes for a funky scented bath, and I got a bit hungry smelling oatmeal, but it worked!
So I bought an old wooden tennis racket. My idea is to put my earrings on the face of the racket, and then the handle will be horizontal with little nails to hold my necklaces. The only issue is my post earrings. Not sure how to incorporate those into the deal. Any ideas?
Thanks for all the encouragement regarding my journey! Glad to know I'm definitely not alone in this.

Hi Everyone. My name is Vera and I'm new to this post. At this present time, I have not made any resolutions for 2016. I try to take one day at a time and see how well I do that day. Right now I doing very well as working out in the gym. Just recently retired...trying to fit in different routines. I volunteer at one of our hospital here in Louisiana one day out of the week. My weight is good...down to 138. Always on the go moving or walking. I enjoy walking very much. Participate in different walking around the city.
I'm looking forward in reading and contributing to this post.

Welcome Vera from Louisiana! This is a great group! Any stress's you have just throw into the white areas of this thread :-) No picking it back up now...just leave it there:-) Great job with volunteering as well. Mentally the best thing for me, I volunteer at the Senior luncheon a couple of times a month. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Annr: I like endangered species chocolate too, but I prefer the darker stuff. 72% is my favorite. I especially like that I've been able to get it in individually wrapped pieces with a 50 calorie portion size. If I had a regular sized bar I would get in trouble by gobbling it all up. :ohwell:
Chris in MA: I love the snow photos. The sky color is amazing. :flowerforyou:
Sue: Your baroque concert sounds lovely. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for the encouragement & saddle ideas. It does seem to be something that needs to be "tried on," or at the very least to be seen in person. I want to have good advisor involved in whatever I may decide to buy. I'm enthusiastic and gaining skill. One of those skills is knowing that I need competent help.
DonnaWV: Olive Garden posts menus online with calorie information. Jump online & plan your choices in advance. :flowerforyou:
Pip: Your back yard is lovely. Gardening can really burn calories. Good for you!
Tomorrow is my riding lesson. I'm looking forward to it. The weather forecast is for fog in some places and then clouds with blue sky showing. Sounds great to me. It would be lovely to ride outdoors but that takes extra time & I'm not sure whether my teacher has the time available. The arena is weather proof. I plan to ask some questions about saddles. So far my teacher has said I don't need my own. (And she has been saddling the horse for me since long before I broke my wrist.)

Hello all. I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday. I was not feeling well last night at all. I came home from the studio and just felt utterly exhausted and sore all over. My head hurt too. So, I took some Tylenol and laid down for an hour or so, wearing my sleep mask. It helped a little. This morning I was throwing up and having gut pain. Then about noon I started to feel a lot better. No idea what that was all about.
I'm on the verge of giving up on this weight loss thing. I just can't seem to get back on track. Don't know what to do about it. I know what I did before I got sick, so why is it so hard to get back to that again? This is really hard. I've gained back almost 25 pounds already. I'm not supposed to eat raw fruits and veggies anymore, which were a staple of my weight loss diet, and I cannot stand cooked things, like apples, or carrots and cabbage. I'm not supposed to have wild rice or quinoa, or tomatoes with skin or seeds. So what am I supposed to eat? Mashed potatoes and cream of wheat have lots of calories. I'm still not able to walk my 5 miles daily, either, so if I can't walk, the weight comes back. Tonight I had shredded chicken burrito in whole wheat tortilla. It's not sitting to good either, at the moment.
My grandkids have been passing around some kind of crud, mostly head and chest congestion, and luckily I have not caught that. It seems like everybody in town is sick.
I got most of my drafting done yesterday. Just four more jobs which I can do tomorrow afternoon. We are having another co-op meeting on Monday, then I have a meeting at 5:00 at the food bank to talk about the next empty bowls which will be in September.
Gotta go walk the doggies. Good night!
Sylvia

Chris in MA, thanks for the good word on the book, so glad you liked it. I'm about 6 chapters into the sequel, and have two dead bodies already. Very cathartic.
Katla, this week, I've written on construction drones in five different US states, marine antennas, childhood obesity and martial arts, the Internet of Things, translation services, electrical estimation services, the gamification of corporate training, sensory marketing, and sentiment analysis in marketing. Every day is different!

Donna – “Cracker;” is a ‘wild child’ … but, she is one smart cookie and extremely vocal; but, not a 'barker'. Ocasional she will bark and we tell her to 'use her inside voice'). We really did not have to train her much. We got her when she was only 4 months old and we (mostly I) named her and set a birthdate; DOS’s birthday. I am trying to get her in her ‘dead to the world’ pose. That's when she is more likely to be laying on her bac. Usually, I don’t have the camera on (or close by) when she does it. DH would like for her to be an outside dog (because she sheds); she’s inside … to be a ‘companion’ for me. Sure she sheds but I don’t really care. She weighs about 20lb; and, she insists on getting up in my lap and lay in my arms like a baby. If she would be ‘still’ I probably would not care if she does. She pulls herself up the arms of my chair. I look at her and then she is ready to get; and, wants that more than just being petted.
Becca – I’m not sure I’d like to ingest it. Doesn’t do in cold water … for what reason I tried it. Not sure if I’d cook in it; I also like my olive oil, too.
Idea about the ‘posts’ earrings. Get a small piece of cross-stitch cloth; cut it in strips and maybe weave it in and out of the tennis racket like a pie. Maybe weave them every 3rd or 4th (or more) strand of the racket. Glue it where the meet in the back. Or 'tie' a bow and use (strips) coming together from the front. Cross-Stich and burlap clothe both come in different sizes of the holes. Paint or leave it natural and maybe get some beads or trim and decorate it like you want it.
Pip – What’s the fence made of? You might want to let it get gray or maybe not. Looks great.
Skuwhn48 and Vera - Tell us some more about yourself. Married or status. What you prefer to be called, children, hobbies. This is a great thread to be on. Very supportive. At the end of each month (sometimes on the beginning of the ‘new’ month) Barbiecat will post a ‘link’ to the next month (March’s beginning). She does this every month. Then you will want to bookmark it … Click on the ‘outlined’ star in the upper right hand corner. Click on it and it will bring you to the current month. If you post to the last page of the previous month and see that there are 3 or 4 posts that did not get bookmarked in time. You can go back to previous posts by month. Whenever you click on the drop down line ... you will see how many have posted since you last post. try not to let yourself get too far back; sometimes up to 100 or more for some of us. Then when you hit the gray button between the bell and gear; it will pop down a list of the different months; click on the current month or if you want to know what others have posted earlier you can click that month and go back and read it. However, you need to post in the current month (or else it will take you back to the month). A lot of use just pick up what is for that day. A lot o us with use a 'smiley face' to mark the last time we posted; it will take us back to 'our' last posting. Doing the 2nd post will let you know a little easier where to begin. I also will minimize the page and open up a work processor program side-by-side and type responses in the WP app and then highlight it and paste into you blank posting box. If you hit 'quote' at the bottom ... it will take you back to a previous post and then you can comment on it, in your post. Once there you can delete all others that isn't pertaining to what you might want to respond to. I tend to write long posts so I don't want for it to copy all of it and take up room all the other places. You have up to one hour to 'correct' or 'change' one of your postings ... a gear will show up in the upper right-hand corner of your 'correction' post and then it will throw down - click on to the 'time' and it will take you to the post that you want to. Also is a Private Message that you can send something to one your MFP Friends. Some might have easier ways to do this. Just experiment - you'll get to know how to maneuver around in it

Had dinner with my daughter and her girlfriend and my mom tonight. Relaxed for a little while. Forgot all my problems for a bit. It was nice.
Back home now with the dogs and in my jammies. Dogs are cuddled up next to me snoring away. Wish I could sleep the way they do.
Love the yard pics people are posting. My yard still has snow in it. So no working outside for me yet.
Welcome to new members pretty new myself. This group is filled with wonderful ladies.
Good night sleep well.

The fence is made of cedar. He's gonna stain it. Kirbys old cannondale is lit up again, he lives!

Anne from Wisconsin - No, you don't want to sleep like them. It would probably indicate you have 'sleep apnea'. If you snore ... then you need a C-pap which means you need to go the a Lung MD, or have you GP refer you to one. A Neurologist can also give you the order (for 2 tests). First one will be to decide if you DO snore - without a mask; then the 2nd one will be 'with' a mask. You cannot believe how much better you sleep with a C-pap. I could 'snore' in any position. Ask a family member to stay up after you've gone to sleep to find out if you snore a lot. Doing that will let you decide you want to submit it to the insurance company to have. If you are snoring you have stopped breathing; snoring is the body's way of 'gasping' for air. So many things that are affected by 'sleep apnea'. Bad on your heart, bad for your weight loss, and 'tired' even though you 'think' you have slept 7 - 8 hours a day. You need to get to that REM sleep to actually sleep; and, to 'dream'.
pip34 - LOVE the yard. Is that the bike that Kirby was using when he got hit?

No, that bike was a redline. This one was a cannondale, he had that bike longer than he knew me. We went riding one day and he rode right into a pole and snapped the frame in two. That pic of him standing was that same day, right outside of a bike store where we had to by him a new bike. We couldn't throw it away. Now it is garden art0 -

Hi gals,
Donna – great JOB on walking, jogging, and dvd…
Janetr - sending thoughts to you, but so proud of your family to bring life and hope to other families.
Joyce – daffodils in California!
Lisa – what a shame, it seemed like such a good idea!!!
KJL – I find for some things – stress, relaxation, some pain management the aroma therapies/holistic stuff makes sense to me, but for the “cure” to cancer – heart disease – diabetes I just think that is over the top…
Lenora – the system I have used for something like your tamale or if I have eaten at someones home is to google a recipe for the item, reading the ingredients finding one that seems close and then putting that in the recipe builder on mfp.. it is not perfect, but at least it is an good guess.
Sylvia – so I wonder if your doctor would refer you to a nutritionist who could help with the calories within the choices and your preferences…. You sound so frustrated!!! I am sure there is a way to make this work.
I am exhausted – I have almost everything ready for tomorrow – 6 loaves of home made bread, garlic butter whipped, 4 trays of penne pasta with homemade marinara and sausage ready --- I ran out of marinara, so have another batch simmering, will finish it in the am. I have clean dishes air drying and a sink full still needing to be washed but they’ll wait till morning, not something I usually do but, I have to go to bed.
Night all!
