I think you are negating the type of honest, open, and loving open relationships that arent traditional monogomous relationships in this statement.

Perhaps just a simple overlook on your part.

So you are complaining about someone's complaint?

I dont think that's technically a complaint, but if we're trying to be accurate, correcting someones grammar is also a violation of community guidelines. Just sayinnn

Part of it comes down to people trying to force themselves to meet societal expactations of how to have relationships. Some people are not mono-amorous, but because monogamy is the societal expectation, they try to conform to it instead of just being openly poly-amorous - they may not even know that polyamory is possible lifestyle.

Well, you should definitely lodge a formal complaint after you post a few more selfies

We did get rock chalked. Both teams had a great effort. Hopefully we can do it again on a neutral court in March!

but there was chit-chat in the selfie...so does it still count?

also, what is the sound of one hand clapping?

    Technically those were fighting words.

Ask a survey of people married for more than 10-15 years on how much sex they have with their SO and I'm guessing the answer will be 1-2 a month or less. Attraction can fade over time and that's not unusual. Even with the most beautiful/nicest people in the world. Added attention from someone usually is what leads to cheating. Again, not condoning it, I just believe that this is why it happens.

Can't say I've ever really understood the succession of thinking that leads to this. Oh goody! A pretty girl wants talk to me about my football team and says she likes my purple shirt! And she smiled! I think I'll take my wee wee out of my boxers and get to work on her as soon as she shows me some knee and gives me some private time in the company broom closet. Cuz I'm sure she will. I still love my wife so I'm sure it will be okay...
I think you misunderstood. Many "cheaters" will have a relationship that's on the mundane phase and rather than fix it, they just comply with whatevers going on hoping that something will happen to have it change. Intimacy and romance will be on a low and just the attention from someone else can possibly lead to more personal conversations with that person along with spending more time. It hardly ever comes out to just meeting a person, then sex. It's usually something that takes a period of time.
People are easily open to conversation when flattery the approach of the other.

It's a sociopathic personality characteristic - regardless of how societally prevalent it is. Don't try to analyze it. Just completely avoid such people.

This is probably the best answer/advice on this subject.

Trying to analyze why other people are horrible is mostly a waste of time. Try to weed these people out of your life. Also, try to avoid them from entering your life. This sounds hard but you can usually see the signals early on and trust your gut. Also, never ever try to "fix" someone. People can only be "fixed" if they make their own choice to (as well and go through years of professional help).

Instead, focus on improving yourself everyday and surrounding yourself with good people who respect you for who you are.

What bothers me more is why people kill each other over affairs. I can never understand that. There is no line between wrong or right anymore.

Why get into a relationship if you're a cheater? Simple. If you weren't in a relationship, you wouldn't be a cheater. Duh.

What I have noticed is that people will usually end up with an SO that emulates their parent. I'm a lot like my wife's dad and she's definitely a lot like my mom.

Not always, but in a lot of cases I believe a cheater (especially serial cheaters) is someone who needs a lot of reassurance/ego boosting- regardless of how amazing their spouse may or may not be, I think a lot of cheaters are insecure people that just need to know they are wanted regardless of the attraction level/ connection level with the other person. I think these types of cheaters just want validation anywhere they can find it, because they need other people to make them feel good about themselves- the sad part with these types is that no one will ever be enough for them, because they don't realize that the problem is within themselves.

I agree with this. But I've also encountered guys, especially guys in rock bands, who were married or in relationships & had massive egos, kissing & flirting with other women at shows (fans/groupies). I don't understand how anyone can cheat & not feel remorse, but it could be a mental thing too like you implied where something isn't right with them mentally, they're not happy or content & they do foolish things to "numb" it, only it doesn't work. It's honestly a mystery as to why people do these things.

*kitten* idk. Maybe it's because the most important person in their lives is themselves. I think that's the only real reason but not an excuse.

Why do people opt for processed foods over the natural healthy choices?
Why do people skip the gym for the bar?
How often do we think critically about the decisions we make? As opposed to reacting from emotion or instinct/taught behavior?

Let's not paint this picture that monogamy has been the "way of the world" since the beginning of time. It hasn't. In fact, the majority of human history suggests men having multiple partners/wives. [I cannot confirm women, I have not done the research] And let's not paint this other picture saying "generations of past fixed their issues...and didn't cheat..... blah, blah..." because that is an absolute lie.

What I can say about cheating, in my opinion, is that the decision to do so is no different than the other bad choices we make. People who smoke, drink, eat poorly, stress, have anger issues, suffer from addiction, etc all seem to get this societal pass... but cheating - oh no- cheating calls for a witch hunt of sorts and 1,000,000 theories as to why people do it. Let's look at our own lives, find the bad choices/habits we have, and apply the same reasoning to why people cheat. The process and reasoning is absolutely the same. Tadaa, you have your answer.

Well cheating IS DIFFERENT. because when you cheat you have the capability to physically hurt someone- as in you know spread disease.
