And what do you think of it? What books have you read recently that floored you?
I'm currently halfway through Hollow City (sequel to Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs) and absolutely love it. I just finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman and, while I enjoyed it, I couldn't help but feel it was a bit over-hyped and dragged a bit.

I was tremendously disappointed with this book and I usually love everything by Margaret Atwood!
Lately I have only been reading gardening books and magazines. Can't wait to get out and dig in the dirt. Only a few more months!

I'm finally reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I decided to see what all the hype is about. I'm enjoying it, but not blown away.1

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It's about two sisters during WW2. It was the most fantastic book. By far my favorite since I read the Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I know it's weird to love two books about birds. Lol. I wish I could have literary amnesia and go back and read them both again for the first time.0

I'm finishing The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher and Three Slices by Kevin Hearne (gotta love short stories about divination by cheese). I have a long road trip coming up, so I'll probably re-read the Dresden Files novels on the way.0

The Shadows by J.R. Ward. Just finished The King by J.R. Ward. Also thinking about re-reading Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.0

Currently reading "The Hiding Place". It's a true story about a family in Holland that his Jews from the Nazi's. Just started so too early to tell how good it is.0

Keep in mind that the first novel appeals more to children - as the series progresses, the writing matures. It's a lovely story! Granted, I'm still on book 5, but still.
Also, You is on my to-read list. I read the synopsis, though... does, indeed, seem creepy!2 -

@clararandall If I was smart, I would've done that! I'm about halfway through Hollow City and just now remembering who each peculiar is.

Slogging my way through Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut. It is supposedly a life changing classic but I am finding it a bit meandering and plotless1
-
Skyjack: The Hunt for DB Cooper.
I have a fascination with true crime and this is an interesting story to say the least0 -
Warriors of the Storm by Bernard Cornwell0

Just finished Morning Star by Pierce Brown.
This was the 3rd book of his Red Rising trilogy. As expected, it was fantastic and actually ended satisfyingly good! These books are a nice cross between technological space war and down in the mud fantasy. It's a cross between Peter F. Hamilton and Joe Abercrombie, in my opinion. (...and that's a huge compliment if you don't know those two authors!)
Here's a top 5 list of books I've read in the past 10 years or so (no particular order):
-Ender's Game by Orsen Scott Card
-The Martian by Andy Reid
-Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
-Unbroken: A WWII Story by Laura Hillenbrand
-The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
...moving on to a Brandon Sanderson Mistborn book next..

I'm a big fan of sci-fi, especially of the dystopia or doomsday type, if anyone has read anything lately they would recommend, please advise!
Also, for any of the books that anyone is reading, would you mind giving a little one-liner to describe what it's about, or at least genre? Please and thank you!0 -
