michelegreat nsv eating the appple and a little bit of fudge instead of ice cream, if i give myself time to work out whether i really want a treat like that ice cream, i love when i make a positive choice. Safe road trip, bet it will feel great to be back home.
joyce how tough about your husbands illnesses, he is right about being mad, not depressed, he is one stubborn man! You can be just as stubborn and cook and eat and dine out the way you need to.
beth??? You okay????
One step, one bite at a time today for me.

Just lost my post!
Tree on the line at Winchester so my train was cancelled. My friend was stuck down the line on that train. They are clearing the tree, so she will get on the next one in an hour and I will hop on it to join her at my station. We will have to get a taxi from Winchester train station as we will be pressed for time.
I am wearing my new HORIZONTAL striped dress with old black leggings as my new navy ones will arrive later today. For your amusement I will post a very badly taken pic. Do you like the 60s style earrings?
DJ - vanity sizing I guess as it's quite loose.
Love Heather UK0 -
Heather, great outfit! You look wonderful! And so youthful!
Rori, part of my job for 8 years was planning a conference for mental health clients, with at least 75% of the presenters being clients as well. I know what you mean about all the work and then you are done! I had real problems with post-conference let down. I did find spending extra effort on the evaluations and thank you cards to the presenters (we did not pay them) would help with that feeling of "what now".0 -
Morning All. I'm new to this community thing and just found this group/thread. I was 50 in November and would live to be part of this group. So much support is amazing !
My main goal for March is to be better at logging my food and sticking to it.
Thanks for all the support!!

Heather, beaufiful. You and the dress. Thanks so much for sharing.
Janetr okc0 -
Heather, You look young, slim, happy, and darling in that dress0
-
Heather, you look fantastic!
I'm going shopping with my mother today. She needs a spring dress to wear to a wedding. I need nothing except a wedding gift for a totally different wedding. Should be a good day.0 -
Hello, everyone. I'm Tammy and I am 54. I've lost about 20 pounds since coming back to the community in January, but I've lost my momentum recently and stalled. My goals for March are to get back on track logging my meals, and increase my exercise. I have a fitbit, and I'm challenging myself, beginning today, to meet a goal of 10,000 steps per day for the next 100 days. With any luck, the weather will start to warm up so I can get outside. It's been a long Winter. I'm looking forward to giving and receiving support and motivation. Together, we can make this a fantastic month!0
-
Good day all! New to the thread. Need all the support I can get. Have diabetes , need to lose at least 50 and having trouble staying motivated to exercise. So needless to say, my goals are to
Keep tracking calories
Workout at least 4 days a week
Get my sugar below 120
Lose at least 7 pounds this month
Quit smoking!! (Should be at the top, I know)
I got Jane Fonda aerobics on dvd last week, tried it yesterday and found my heart rate was 160 just a few minutes into it.
I am so out of shape! Will keep on it though and pace myself till I can make it through without having a heart attack!
Good luck to all, you are such a great group!
Wendy0 -
Heather You look great! Love the dress with the ankle boots!
DJ You are always so inspiring!
Tammy Welcome! Congratulations on the loss! 20 pounds is something to be proud of! You will find that this a very supportive group of ladies! Come when you can and be inspired!
Went to the podiatrist yesterday to review the EMG report. Everything was completely normal, so no nerve problem. I'm very thankful for that, but there is still something wrong with my feet. Doctor thinks it is a Morton's Neuroma. I had a pinched nerve in that same foot probably 13-14 years ago that was helped with 5 injections of cortisone over a couple of months. So.....she gave me a shot of cortisone in the top of the foot and put a little foot pad on my foot to try and see if custom made foot pads will help. The little foot pad is annoying, but doc said it would take a couple of days to get used to it. If I can get used to it, she will have the orthotics precertified through my insurance. The cortisone has already seemed to help a little, but the foot is sore from the shot. At this point, since the pain has progressively gotten worse over the last couple of years, I'll try just about anything!
Still going to try and walk my lunch 20-minute mile. I love to walk and hike. That has been the worst thing about the foot problem! Sometimes it just hurts too bad to walk for more than 5 minutes! And with Lacey (the new puppy) she expects at least 3 walks a day!
Have a great day!!!!

janetr7476 wrote: »Cheri - terrific job on the SWSY program. That's what I'm doing too and have really enjoyed it. I had started another one before I received the book so I added a few others to the SWSY routine including crunches, squats and lunges and I am really enjoying it.
Congrats on the new baby in the family. It is always such a blessing and they are so much fun. I hope you do see them all soon.
We go this
Janetr OKC
I was very tempted to add to the SWSY program as at one point I was way above this routine however since I do an additional group of stretches and exercises on the alternate days for my back and neck I left it simple for now. I know I will have more success by starting easy and building up. Glad you are doing the program also!
Woke this morning to snow....just a light dusting and flurries....temps will increase over the next few days and thus it will melt away thankfully.
I'm sleeping a little better the last 3 nights. Meaning I haven't heard the wind trying to blow the house down (my husband's words), I check the clock when I close my eyes and the next time I look its at least 5 hours later and I am out of bed earlier with a tiny, little bit of step to my walk.
New routine: 8 pm take my meds (Celexa & Elavil) with my Magnesium drink (Natural Tranquility) then an hour later take my Valerian Root (3 capsules). Head up to bed by 10 pm to read a "real" book (no e books in bed) then turn on an audio book (loaded on my phone) and listen till I notice I am not focusing - turn it off and rest mindfully - next thing I know it is hours later. YIPPEE!!! Progress!!!!
According to my Fitbit Flex I am still having the same average number of "restless" times but heck I am not aware of most of them anymore! Hope this continues....
My daughter finds out today if her knee surgery is schedule for a week from this Friday. That will set things in motion for me to be ready to live with her (she lives in Chicago) for a week or two while she recuperates. She is a MFPer too.
Have a great day everyone! Any accomplishment is a step forward!

Happy Wednesday ~ Hump Day to Some!
The strangest thing happened when I went to vote yesterday. When I got up to the table where they swipe your ID, the computer said I had already voted. After much discussion and about 20 minutes of filling out paper work, I finally got to vote on a provisional ballot. Ugh! Hubby was steaming mad about the whole thing and just glad he didn't go off on the people working the polls.

Morning ladies~
sorry I am late, I slept from 7 last night to 6 this morning holy cow~~~ well I did it again, just got up and went straight to the gym, only thing is there router isnt working right so no wifi for me and dont want to use my data.. but did a 1/2 hr on the treadmill ,but didnt want to be late to go feed DFIL, so im up to 6,300 steps as of right now...then went to visit my dad..I brought up the subject about going to Nashville and his eyes lit up.. he says he has a ton of airline miles so he is going to check out what can be used, so maybe the airfare will be taken care of.. then it would be just hotel and rental car. and I will plan on that...
also will try and call Doris and see is she wants to go to up to the Cape Easter weekend,I believe I should be able to do what I want and not have to put off things I want to do, Jean has gotten down there to Florida once, and he will be back next month, did tell her if she could find alternate times I would be able to do it..
Welcome Welcome to all of you new ladies~ you have found one fantastic group...
Heather~ you look fantastic!!!!!

exermom - a spin instr. should not really telling you what gear you should be in because everyone is different and they are all in different levels. i wouldn't expect if someone was to spin w/me to be on the same gear or do the same rpm as i do. it should be taught on perceived exertion (how hard you think you are working)... rpm on a flat steady road, you want to try to be at least 90 if possible, if you can't get there, your gear is too high. on hills your rpm will go down but your power should go up, you want to try to not go under 65rpm if it's too easy, then raise your gear a bit. music is a motivator. alot of times i will do my own thing during the class and won't follow what the instructor is teaching, sometimes i will. this monday i have to sub for the regular instr, it will be fun.
compression socks are supposed to be worn after the workout. some people put them on during the workout. if you get alot of cramps, it will help with that and make your recovery faster.
gloworminwa - thanks :0) about the lawn!
godmomkim - yeah, you're pooped.
jmkmomm- early happy bdayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cityjanelondon - lookin purdy good!!!!!!!!! cutie outfit!
yesterday the train that I usually ride home was delayed due to the wind (20min) then it was updated to 1/2hr. so I decided to ride home. the wind was brutal! Kirby said when I got home that it was 19mph, well it felt like it. I made sure to ride slow because with the rain and the fresh oil on the road and the wind, that's a deadly combo. that's all I needed was to skid and fall and mess up the shoulder again. made it home, still did over 10mph, that was surprising. when I was done, I ALMOST hit the 1000 calorie burn I missed it by 4 measly calories, I was bummed when I added it up!
Kirby said the roof would be done before next week! I think I heard him wrong, he said it will be done in 4 days! he said it is cheaper to get it done this time of year too.
my PT person was out on Friday due to a family emergency and then she has the first 2 Fridays of this month off so that's 3 Fridays in a row I will be missing PT. I try to do some stuff on some days to work the shoulder, usually on Thursdays and Saturdays I work something in on my own at the gym. I want her because she is so good. when Kirby starts doing his PT over hear after his surgery, I told him to request her.
type to ya later0 -

Welcome! This is a wonderful and supportive group.0 -
I am so fortunate to live in a place where I can walk every day including days with rain, snow, ice, and wind. I have the right clothes for every kind of weather and a great Bluetooth headset so I can listen to audio books while I walk. I usually walk with my dogs but if they don't like the weather, I walk without them. And, yes, I put those things on my daily gratitude list often along with so many other things in my life that add to my health, welfare, well-being, and joy.

Vicki ~ Happy Birthday!
Heather ~ You have the sweetest smile and you look great in that dress.
Janet ~ Hope you got your friend straightened out.... There are so many folks here who have major problems and we all love you for the kind words you dispense.
Joyce ~ Hang in there! I have an angry DH also and he doesn't realize that his anger hurts no one but himself and me (who has to listen to it). We are so blessed and he really has nothing to be angry about. But, your DH's circumstances are so different. Too bad he won't get an anti-depressant to help. It also seem that maybe his diet is adding to a lot of his problems. JMO

Heather, you look great! The only thing we have in common is that I am wearing ankle boots like that! Next step is to get your waistline!
Still feeling blue, but trying to fake it as someone wisely suggested -- used up some energy on the elliptical last night -- today at work I slightly de-cluttered my cubicle.
That was outrageous about the voting mixup--I really hope that this election can be fair and tamper-proof. I can hardly watch the news anymore.
DH started PT for the arthritis and I think the meds are finally helping a bit. I might not have lost my walking partner after all.
Trying really hard to not go on FB that much as it seems something always upsets me. Has anyone else had success toning down that habit?
Allie, you go girl! You will be my role model today!

Good morning everyone! My co-op friends and I went to a meeting this morning to present our gallery to the chamber of commerce, hoping to drum up some funding. I did not think it went well, but the other three did, so hopefully I'm wrong. The city manager seemed to focus on how we needed to have art classes for children, and that is not in our plans. It's a gallery, not an art school, so he didn't get that. Besides, I have had clay events for kids and nobody wants to pay enough to make it worthwhile. I lost money on everything I've done for kids. We, it will be interesting to see what they say.
We went to the coffee shop on the corner next to my studio afterward to talk about it, but I had a coughing fit and had to leave. Apparently the crud is not quite finished with me yet.
My studio buddy is here working in the studio this morning. He's such a joy to have around, and he's paid me his rent without fail for four months now. Big plus! So today I want to get in there and do some cleaning and organizing, and glaze a few things. We ran a bisque kiln yesterday, so as soon as that comes out I want to have some glazed pieces ready to go in. No kid duties till 3:00, no drafting to do, and hubby isn't coming for lunch, so I should have some time to get to work uninterrupted.
Joyce, I sympathize with your holes-in-the-wall problem. When my exhusband and I sold our first house we had to patch EVERY wall and door due to fist holes and bullet holes.
Have a great day everyone!
Sylvia

Hello - New to this board. Back on MFP after 1 year. My word(s) for March. Just do it! Sounds cliché, I know, but I can't seem to get myself motivated to do anything! Joined back at the Gym last week. Haven't gone. Got a couple of fitness apps. Haven't used them. Food? Don't get me started. I lost 50 pounds with MFP 5 years ago, so here's hoping I can get back on the wagon and lose that 50 again!0

Got to get motivated to get on the treadmill ... UGH!!!!!0

I had the same problem this morning.. that little voice kept nagging me.. finally after 2 hours I got off my butt and did it, got sweaty and afterwards, that little voice shut up and another said, " Great job!" and I feel much better! Day 2 is done!
Get on that treadmill, even for just 10 minutes. You will feel so accomplished!

Rori: I'm sure the recipe would work with ground turkey but you may decide to tweak seasonings a bit to suit your preferences. Lately we've been adding green onion and a little sweet red or yellow pepper to the rice. Years ago DH had a Reiki treatment from a "practitioner." It was extremely painful and he never went back. I just googled it and found a youtube demonstration about how to use it on yourself. It was nothing like the experience DH had, and was, in fact, quite soothing. :flowerforyou:
DJ: You're right that we will miss DS & DDIL. The Army moves people around, and that is part of the deal. This posting will be good for them but I fear we'll only see them once or twice a year.
JuliafromOttawa, Robin & Wendy: Welcome!
Michele: Last summer we found Weight Watchers chocolate fudge bars that are 100 calories per serving, and yesterday DH brought home WW Mint Ice cream bars that are 60 calories each. They're mint ice cream coated with dark chocolate about half way down. I've gone to heaven. These are so yummy and I can really have just one. I have real trouble with portion control where Ben & Jerry's is concerned.
Joyce: I admire you. You are courageous, strong, and have good sense. That is an amazing set of assets.
Heather: I love the photo! Is the dress a knit? It reminds me of dresses I had in the late 60's and early 70's. Good times. You look young, pretty and happy.
Donna in WV: Good luck with your foot. :flowerforyou:
Cheri in OH: I love the message, "You're always with yourself so you might as well enjoy the company."
Pip: A good PT is a blessing and can't be appreciated too much. I would want to wait for her, too. You are very self aware and savvy about how exercise affects you.
Barbie: I love this message: "Gratitude turns what we have into enough."
Gloria: Sorry about the sneezing and coughing. Rest. I like SleepyTime tea at a time like that. :flowerforyou:
I have yoga in an hour and an appointment with the orthopedist this afternoon. I wonder whether he'll release me for yoga today. I want to ask him whether I'm on the right medicine to build bone density, whether daily pills are better than weekly, and whether there are side effects from long term use.
I told all of you that I took Nexium and its generic equivalent for years and was struggling with some memory problems. Then I saw on the news that it is connected with the development of Alzhiemers. Now that I'm off of it I feel better and more clearheaded. I am not in the camp that says no medicine other than herbal, but I am less trusting than I used to be, especially in considering a long-term medication.

March Resolutions :
1. Log every bite and swallow.
2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on flexibility and back strength.
3. Have fun every day.
4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
5. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Morning Ladies,
Vicki,NE, I hope it’s a very special day.
Julia, welcome. This is a great place for support and information. Come often and join right in. Congrats on your loss. You are off to a great start!!
Janetr, good for you on starting your grateful list. When I was working I was up first each morning and spent time reflecting and thanking the lord for all my blessings. I have to say I miss that time but I do still find time each day to give thanks.
micheleNC, I hope you have a safe trip home. A few years back my DH was not real good at stopping often on a road trip. Now, luckily he will stop as often as I want and sometimes more. I need out of the car and moving around every hour or so and typically take advantage to get a bathroom break. I drink constantly weather at home or on the road.
Mary, I can’t imagine you having time in a day to walk 22,872 steps because you are too busy lifting weights and swinging kettle bells. No one will call you a slacker.
Joyce, thanks (I think?) for the info on inserting a Foley catheter. I know it must get depressing to be around someone so negative all the time. I can’t get over someone that doesn’t want to try to find solutions to health problems but I guess a lot of people are like that. Thank goodness he does go to karaoke every week.
KJ, I hope you get to work in that nap.
Heather, you look M A R V E L O U S!!! Thanks for sharing the pic. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Robin, welcome. This is a great group for support and information. Please tell us a little about yourself to help us get to know you. Come often and chat when you like.
Tammy, welcome to you also. You have had a great start to the year. Please don’t get discouraged because you don’t keep losing at that pace. Good luck with your challenge.
Wendy, welcome. You can do this. I’m one of the world’s laziest people and I was on diabetes meds when I started this journey. I’m now off of those meds and a few others and doing some exercise most days. I still have weight to lose but am no longer in the obese category. Take it one step at a time and don’t give up.
Donna, glad the shot seems to have helped your foot. Ewwww just the thought of that makes me want to cry. Maybe rather than just walking you could walk less and do more upper body exercise (even while you walk). Doing different things with your arms helps burn calories and could reduce the steps you take until your foot gets better. I hope it heals quickly.
Cheri, I’m glad you are sleeping better, regardless of what your Fitbit says.
CarolGA, that’s weird about you trying to vote twice. (JK) You aren’t missing any kind of ID are you? I wonder what happened? Probably human error somewhere along the way.
Allie, I’m so happy to hear that you are taking our advice on your trips!!!! That will be great if your dad can get the airline tickets. You go girl!!! ((((Hugs)))) You must have needed that rest, so glad you got to sleep that long.
Pip, I’m glad you made it home safely. That does sound like a dangerous combination you were riding in. You just never cease to amaze me!!!
Barbie, I love your Gratitude quote.
Betty, since I spend so much time trying to keep up with this group I find that I spend less and less time on FB. Once I got over the initial shock I really don’t miss it that much. I have changed lots of my notifications so I’m not constantly reminded every time someone posts something.
Sylvia, I hope your meeting went better than you think. I’m glad you are getting some uninterrupted work time at the studio today. Is your buddy interested in the co-op or will he stay with using your studio? It sounds like he doesn’t really spend that much time there.
to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Just call me “Push-Up Janet”. This morning I was doing some in the kitchen and DH said I was going to push that counter right through the wall. He is so funny sometimes. Mary, thank you for getting me going on this addition to my workouts. Just doing 10 at a time makes it easy to do 100 a day. Now maybe I need to add something else to this? Well I don’t want to overdo. Lol Seriously, you ladies are so inspirational and I’m often in awe of what you do. Thank you all for sharing your lives with us. I’ve been making some ham and bean soup this morning and have a dentist appointment this afternoon so better get moving.
I hope all of you have a healthy and happy day. ]
